Christine Schurrer
Spring – the flowers are in bloom, the birds are singing and it seems as if the entire world is waking up from a long winters nap. For a lot of us, spring is a time to either take a vacation (spring break anyone?) or plan a vacation. In June 2006, that is exactly what Torgny Hellgren of Sweden did, he took a vacation to the Greek island of Crete. Some rest, relaxation and a little sun, a little booze, maybe a woman, exactly what every red-blooded young man could want. While on Crete, Hellgren met Christine Schurrer, 32, of Germany. According to Hellgren, they had an extremely passionate four or five day affair. But vacations do not last forever and Hellgren returned to Sweden with fond memories of the Isle of Crete and Christine Schurrer.
That was until Christine Schurrer appeared in Arboga, Sweden, the hometown of Hellgren. He was a little put off, but decided to give 
the relationship a whirl as they had enjoyed one another so much on Crete. But you can’t recreate the magical world of a mystical vacation, no matter how hard you try or how much booze you consume. Hellgren soon realized that any relationship with Schurrer was a mistake. So he broke up with her, via text message. Tacky, I know. Schurrer did not take the news especially well. She tried everything to get Hellgren back from feigning a pregnancy to attempting suicide. While Hellgren could use some smarts in the “how to break up with an unstable woman department” he recognized that Schurrer needed help and tended to her during her recovery and then dropped her off at the airport to catch a flight back to Germany. Probably waving bye-bye and doing the happy dance. But as young, virile people are 
prone to do, Hellgren moved on. He met 23-year-old mother of two, Emma Jangestig. They had an instant connection and he quickly moved in with Jangestig and her children.
But like bad body odor, Schurrer kept coming back. She couldn’t let Hellgren go, but more importantly, she wouldn’t let him go. She loved him, wanted him, needed to be with him (yikes, a stalker) and wouldn’t take no for an answer. She sent letters. She wrote emails. She called him and professed her love. But Hellgren by now had realized that what looked great in a drunken stupor on Crete was in reality a whack job and wisely told her to move on. But Christine Schurrer would not be throw away, oh hell no. Hellgren was her man and if that bitch Emma were out of the picture then he would see that she was a raving beauty (ok, maybe just raving – put her face next to Hitler, frightening) and he was not complete without her in his life, forever and even, amen.
WARNING: This is about to get ugly. If you are easily offended or have a weak stomach, please exit out of this now. Seriously people, it’s really, really bad.
On the evening of March 17, 2008, Christine Schurrer flew to Sweden and paid a little visit to the object of her rage: Emma Jangestig. She brought with her only two items: her fury and a hammer or hammer like object. Emma Jangestig testified that the last thing she remembered was 
answering the front door and a German woman smiling and saying “Hi, I’m Tine (Schurrer’s nickname).” Schurrer then struck Emma 15 times in the head with the hammer. Little 3-year old Max came rushing to the aid of his mother only to have Schurrer turn her fury on him and strike him repeatedly in the head. She then moved onto little 1-year old Saga and practically obliterated one side of her skull. While Emma survived the brutal attack, little Max and Saga died. Their father, Niklas Jangestig, was unable to control his emotions in court as he testified against Schurrer. He cried profusely when he told the court of his visit to the morgue to identify his dead children. He testified that, “My children weren’t murdered. They were butchered like animals. I sat with my children for around two hours and cried and cried,” he said. It wasn’t until viewing their battered little bodies did he realize that his children were gone forever and the absolutely agonizing method and manner of their death.
Christine Schurrer was convicted of the murders of Max and Saga Jangestig and the attempted murder of Emma Jangestig. She was sentenced to life in prison. In February 2009, her murder 
conviction and life sentence were upheld. She and her attorneys are appealing the decision to the Swedish Supreme Court as Schurrer claims that although she was in Sweden the night of the murders, she was there to see a stone ruin. Now before you break out the Jägermeister thinking this woman will spend her life in prison, here is a little lesson in Swedish law: In Sweden, a life sentence translates to 12 years. She will be released from prison in 12 years and be deported back to Germany. The Germans must be waiting with baited breath and great anticipation and the return of this butchering whore. So you might want to think twice about traveling to Germany in oh, 2017.
I included a picture that was taken of one of the children (I will not name which one) after the body was prepared for the autopsy. It is up to Max’s discretion whether or not he will include the photo (it is extremely graphic). I support whichever decision Max makes whether or not to publish the photo. I did not include this photograph in an effort to provide gratuitous violence or to exploit these children in any way. I included it to show the abomination that this woman wrought. There are no words to adequately describe these devastating injuries or to even begin to contemplate the absolute terror and excruciating pain that these two tiny children suffered as the medical examiner testified that their deaths though quick, were not instantaneous. I chose the tamest of the photo’s available as the others were just too graphic and frankly, too heart wrenching. I included this photograph because it is one thing to read words and formulate a picture in your mind, quite another to see the actual evidence. Look at that photo and remind yourself that this woman will be out and free to roam society in 12 years. Probably will be looking for her next great true love.
Little Max and Saga Jangestig were buried together in the same coffin, holding hands. They were laid to rest under the simplest of gravestones, a heart with two engraved angels – together forever. Rest in peace little angels.

An absolute waste of carbon and water. Can Germany at least confine her as an obvious nutjob when she’s released, or have they dispensed with involuntary confinement?
This really does suck. Unfortunately, it’s almost a European wide thing – life means about 12 years. After time served in custody (on remand) during the trial, and taking into account the behaviour of the murdering scumball in prison (plus the pretty much mandatory parole hearing after only a few years) I would be very surprised if she serves anything like 12 years – it’ll be more like 6-8. In the UK, we watch people murdering people all the time and getting sentences of 12 years or so that transpire to be about 8 years sentences in reality (we recently had a woman convicted of manslaughter who has spent 18 months in custody, got a 4 year sentence and walked FREE the day she received her sentence because of time spent!!) Kids in this country can murder at 13-19 years old and be out of prison before they hit 20-25….
God Bless these children! What a shame to have shut a waste of a judicial system that these people can freely take lives (of joyful children nonetheless) and not have to worry about losing much of their own lives to a meager little 12 year sentence. Sad, sad, sad!
This is the first time that I have responded to a story I’ve read but wanted to MANY times. I can not believe that this kind of evil exists. My children are the same ages as the deceased. I can’t imagine anyone hurting an innocent child. I hope she rots in hell. 12 Years………………that makes me sick!

Sometimes, as horrible as they are to see, you need the photo to convey just how brutal an attack took place. What a nasy, evil little bitch Christine is. 12 years is nowhere near enough.
In the picture, she looks like she’s waiting for a traffic citation or some other minor inconvience. That’s just chilling.
Oh, wow. I don’t even think that there is anything to say… How sad for those babies. I can’t imagine that the mother is feeling all that great about surviving.
I normally do not like to even consider submitting crime/autopsy photo’s, but there were just no words to describe the injuries that this carbon life form inflicted upon this family. She viciously attacked and butchered two innocent little children. Very rarely will something move me to tears, but this one did. I had to take a break and grieve for these lost babies. Reading the transcripts, autopsy and police reports just enraged me. And she is out in 12 years. Free. Free to live her life, while these two children were taken from their parents. Their father will forever live with the image of his babies in the morgue. Their mother will live forever with the loss of her children and the physical and emotional scars that she suffered at the hands of this beast. She will see this bitch’s smiling face saying “Hi, I’m Tine” in her nightmares. Chilling. 12 years. Not enough. If she isn’t hell worthy, I do not know who is.

Third, I don’t think an autopsy photo of any child should be on any website without the express permission of both of the surviving parents.
I don’t say this because I’m disturbed by this photo–I wish I hadn’t read this so close to bedtime because I am disturbed–I say this from the concern I’d have if I were either of the child’s parents and I was faced with a foreign language website with a graphic, autopsy photo of my dead child on it. They may never see this site, but I wouldn’t want them to suffer an ounce of regret for having seen it or for coming here.
I in no way have any legal or binding way of asking you to take it down, but I simply urge you to, in the event, however unlikely, that someone related to that child comes here to visit and add their two cents to “Tine’s” condemnation.
You know Jason, there are only a few people I respect enough to make me reconsider my decision to publish the autopsy picture, and you’re one of them. For that reason I’m going to take it down….there are other ways I can make it available to people who wish to see it, and I won’t be responsible for ambushing someone with what amounts to an emotional obscenity.
I think this is the right decision and I applaud you and Blondie both for this piece. I don’t think what you did was inconsiderate, I even think that picture should be seen by many if at all possible. I hope the parents of those children someday receive comfort from someone who read this article.
Jason, I respect your opinion. Please know that I debated not only the photograph, but the entire story for days out of respect for the family. Went over it and over it, pro’s, con’s, etc. I in no way wanted to exploit either of the children. Please be assured that was not my intent, and no I do not believe that you thought it was. In the end, I decided to submit the photo because of the impact. Their story, all of it, needed to be told. Alfred Hitchcock once said, “In feature films the director is God; in documentary films God is the director.” After careful consideration, I submitted. You can describe in graphic detail the horrific injuries this woman inflicted upon these innocent people and it would never even come close to the actual event. SEEING brings the horror to life, and the fact that this woman will serve only 12 years for these crimes, made me realize that God, as well as every other thinking, feeling, human being was royally pissed at the inadequacies of the human justice system.
There are those that will argue that Christine deserves rehabilitation (those that live in lollypop land) and making her serve life (true life, not 12 years) in prison or condemning her to death is WRONG. For those individuals, I submitted the picture. Take a look at that child, take a long, hard look and then tell me that the death penalty or true life in prison is not warranted. Tell me that you would welcome Christine to live in your home, or neighborhood when she is released. Tell me that you would welcome her to your dinner table, with your children. As far as I am concerned, you might as well start digging your grave now. Some people are just evil. And like stupid people, you can’t fix them. You can’t fix what doesn’t know it is broken or more importantly, does not want to be fixed.
Thank you for standing up for Max, Saga, Emma and their horrible faith. I know Emma appreciates all you people who helps remember her little angels, and everyone else around her does to, including me.
There are no punishment cruel enough for Schürrer… I saw her in court, and the memory of her ignorant face and smirking smile still haunts me. She looked so pleased with herself, facing the couple she punished so severely through her actions, butchering the two people they loved the most.
When the court showed a video of Emma, taken shortly after she woke up after the attack: Schüerrer couldn’t even prevent herself from smiling.

Max and Saga were little angels in life, I so wish they didn’t have to be angels for real.
Thank you, for not letting people forget them. We all have to remember this, take a close look around us and do anything we possibly can to insure us it won’t happen again.

Christine Schurrer is one of the worst “things” or “monsters” to ever grace this site. If her public condemnation gives either of her parents a micro-second of relief from the grief they feel for the loss of Max and Saga, I say Blondie deserves a special award and perhaps a few indulgences for a Friday night in Vegas.

As soon as I read this story (I got here after Max already took the photo down–and I was glad for that), as I do with pretty much any other one I read here, I searched deeper to see if I could find anything else on it–and I came across a forum with the entire crime report and autopsy report on the kids along with medical information on Emma–{I read it, not to see the pictures but to read the report I really interested in things from a medical/legal point of view} and as I was reading this report–all 700 plus pages (in swedish to which I had to translate into english), I got to about 300 and scrolled to see how much further I had to go. I was sitting here drinking a Mtn Dew and eating some pretzels–and what did I come across but the autopsy photos of both children and hospital photos of Emma–my stomach turned and not from the flu I have been battling all week.
To do that to a baby and get only 12 years; absolutely disgusting, unfathomable. To do that to 2 babies; I have no words. None at all.
The sentence in my head–she should be imprisoned for as long as the mother continues suffering. Why should she get off so easily and the victim is punished for life??
I only just read into this being in the UK. This is so so very sad and a chilling tale of the evil that is still out there in todays society.
This woman should be locked up forever and to take away those young lives like that is so heartbreaking.
This is clearly a double murder and attempted third murder.
I know the parents will never read this but my heart goes out to them both and please be strong, there is nothing wrong with having all the love in the world that you had for the little ones, remember those magical moments together and be strong for one another.

As I mentioned in my previous post on this story; I have been reading a forum on this story–a long and tedious process since most of it is in Swedish.
I did come across the entire case file, and apparently it was the father of the children who released the autopsy photos originally. I am not saying that just because they’re out there to see, that they should be posted, but he was willing to share the damage this woman inflicted on his family–and frankly, I am glad because the kind of monster she is is scary. I hope everyone gets a chance to see the kind of rage she is filled with–and protects their families accordingly.
My heart definitely goes out to the family–more so since seeing all I have. Seeing all of that has made it more real in my eyes–and maybe if someone comes here trying to defend her (as some crackpots tend to do for some people) that they see exactly what she did.
I never would have submitted that photo had the father not published them. As a parent I could never intrude on them. But also, as a parent, I would be the first one splashing the pictures of my children’s bodies across any media for the entire world to see. I would want everyone to know what they endured. What they suffered. Of course that would be from my own jail cell because I know I would never allow that woman to live had these been my children. I would gladly spend the rest of my life in prison as well as all eternity in hell for bashing her head in with a hammer. But that is me. 12 years, ugh. Remind me never to move to Sweden. The US justice system may not be perfect, but at least this shit would have gotten true life or a fast track to the needle.
Blondie, this story is by far one of the most herrendous tragedies which I have ever head of. I just cannot begin to imagine the cruelty, the outright evil that would have to exist in ones soul to do this to anyone, let alone babies for gods sake. Did you know that the father of the two dead kids was the one who originally made the autopsy photos availably online, along with the entire police casefile? Believe me, I saw all the pictures, and the one linked to was the mildest of the lot. I found myself tearing up more than once, which I believe was the effect the Dad was looking for. It certainly was the effect both Blondie and I were looking for.
It was the Chinese who said “A picture is worth a thousand words”. In this case, they couldn’t have been more right.

Generally speaking, crimes of such a brutal nature are by someone who knows the victim etc, to have such a rage to want to DESTROY the person utterly. What I don’t get… is how this lady had such rage against children she never met?

When I saw the preview photo I was already thinking of some smart remark, but when I read, I became a lottle more serious.
As far as the autopsy phto goes, I am glad that it was available, so we can really see how evil this POS really is.
I can understand going after Emma, but the children have NOTHING to do with what is going on – the boy “deserved” a shove or a smack at worst, such repeated blows could only be inflicted by someone truely evil, someone that really enjoys suffering.
The father looks to be a bit of a loser, but that’s moot for this story.
Shurrer is just plain evil and it’s a shame that we are not reading about how the father killed her in the court room….. It’s scary to think that she may be free in 12 years…… that means that if I had killed my first wife the night she started sleeping with the POS that was to become her 3rd husband, I would only have 2 years left! While 12 years may have been appropriate for offing Captain Viagra, 12 years is nothing for killing these two children. Death is he only thing she deserves, the sentence carried out in that court room.

If this sick bitch had an issue with the guy – if he promised to love and cherish her forever to get in her pants (it doesn’t sound like it, but whatever) and she felt betrayed, I can ALMOST understand her desire to lash out at him for deceiving her.

First of all Emma is way better looking than Christine, so instantly there is a jealousy factor here, By the way they both look in their pctures, it’s almost obvious that Emma has a soul, Christine does not, so even if the people switched bodies, Emma’s warm personality would put a pleasant smile on Christine’s face – a huge improvement over that puss. Chris is a poor looser. There are some people, who when they know they are loosing, will make every effort to make sure that winning carries a heavy price.
I find such people worst than theives, at least a theif takes from one for some type of gain, but such people like Chris, want others to have nothing or at least less than them.
So because I “understand” why she went after Emma, it does no mean I condone it, or would go easier on her, but rather it means that I am not as baffled as other people, it also means that I have an idea of why she did it and I also know just how evil she is and can also state how she’ll pose a danger to society should she ever be freed. I also can see how she may skate out of a mental hospital, and “suddenly” relapse.
There is no rehabilitation of jealousy, especially of such an extreme….. it wil only go dormant.
The legal system in the Nordic countries (I´m from Finland) really sucks. Life sentence means maximum of 12 years in prison unless you´re seriously mentally ill and will pe put into a mental institution for an undetermined period of time. It´s appalling that killing a swan might get you a longer prison sentence than killing a human being (nothing against swans :D )! In Finland we have been especially appalled with the wide range of sentences for people guilty of child molestation. In some parts of the country certain courts just give those scumbags merely a slap on the wrist – in one case one guy raped an 11-year-old girl and the court decided to let him go with a few months of parole because the rape was done quickly!

I’ve seen all of the autopsy photos of these poor kids, and it was a horror. Their skulls looked like the cracked shell on a boiled egg. The apartment they were killed in looked like a slaughterhouse. And the sick murdering bitch who did this gets only 12 measly years?!

I’ve been reading some Swedish law. She must serve 12 years of her sentence at a minimum, in Sweden. At the end of that sentence, as a German citizen, her country must request her back (a simple formality), at which time, the judicial authority can ask that she serve an additional 15 years in prison under German law. If the Germans don’t ask for her back, which is unheard of, she has to ask a judge for clemency to be released. The issue in Sweden is that the longest sentence is 10 years(or recently increased to 12, I can’t make heads or tales of some of this) or a life sentence which is, you’re in prison until they let you out.
I hope in 12 years a prisoner could impliment the death penalty!

You know I do believe that this is the first case where I actually felt bad for the prsioners that were going to have to put up with the scum coming in. True justice would be in this case not only releasing the photos to the public but passing them around the prison that she is going to inhabit. Let other mothers take care of dishing out the justice part of her sentence. I also do believe that if you only get 12 years for killing someone in Sweden then I would have sought justice for my children by doing 12 years no problem. Have you ever considered what the families of these people being locked away for life are going through? They had parents too at one point, and more likely than not they were parents who had hopes and dreams for their child. For one reason or another that child went and fucked up. By imprisoning a person who comitted a crime with a victim, you are doing nothing for the victims of the initial crime! You are simply creating further victims by refusing a person an opportunity to change. Shit happens. Get over it.

Although I cannot speak for the prison system in Sweden, I can speak for the ones here in the US. There are individual counseling, group therapy, behavioral therapy, art therapy, occupational therapy, animal therapy, faith based therapy, and countless other therapies that are available to every prisoner. The problem is that for any rehabilitation program to work the offender MUST admit their guilt. They must accept responsibility for their actions and take specific actions to alter not only their behavior, but their way of thinking and often times, their entire way of life. And that usually contradicts their appeal.
I remember when convicts were convicts, then they became inmates then residents, then prisoners because some bleeding heart little liberal like yourself said that it hurt their widdle feelings to refer to them negatively. The bitch based in the heads of two toddlers. She practically removed the front portion of the face and skull from one of them in a blind rage. She had no vested interest in the children, her rage was solely targeted at their mother. Yet, she took the time, energy and effort to strike the children again, and again, and again, and again, killing them. Try this experiment: Get a hammer and 3 hip joints from a cow (your local butcher will have them). Go out into your back yard and hit the first bone as hard as you can 15 times. That was the mother. Now, hit the second one, 20 times, that was Max. Now the third one another 15 times, there is Saga. See for yourself how much energy and effort it takes. That is evil personified.

As a special update, it looks like she will be spending the next 25 years of her life in a German prison. She was given a life sentence, but through a special deal, instead of the “weaker” Swede sentence of life, that would be merely 12 to 25 years. She gets to go to Germany where she will serve 25 years for the life sentence.
