UPDATE: Lam Luong Sentenced to Death
Hallelujah there is justice in the world after all.
Ya’ll remember Lam Luong? He is the piece of shit, pathetic excuse for a father that threw his children, Ryan Phan, 3; Hannah Luong, 2; Lindsey Luong, 1; and Danny Luong, 4 months, off the 100’ tall Dauphin Island bridge and into the coastal waters of Alabama on Jan. 8, 2008. He brutally murdered his children to get back at his wife and teach her a lesson, the ultimate example of domestic violence and child abuse. Or how to be a really big child murdering asshole in one easy step.
Before pronouncing sentence, Mobile County Circuit Judge Charles Graddick told Lam that there is only one penalty for a crime this heinous and cruel. Graddick said the final moments of the four children’s lives were sheer terror, filled with extreme fear and pain. Especially for three-year-old Ryan who the state argued knew what was going on around him. State Medical Examiner, Karen Kelly testified at Lam’s trial that all four of the children were still alive when they hit the water. The cause of death was blunt force trauma and drowning, so they were aware of who was throwing them to their deaths and of the terrifying plunge off of the bridge.
Yesterday, Judge Graddick sentenced Lam to death by lethal injection. He further ordered that Luong be shown photographs of the four children every day that he sits on death row. Judge Graddick further ordered Lam to pay $50 million in restitution thus preventing Lam from profiting on any book, interview or movie sales. Lam began crying and apologized to his wife, Kieu, in Vietnamese, telling her (via court appointed translator) “I apologize to my wife.” Lam’s defense had argued that he was not guilty of capitol murder, but of the lesser charge of manslaughter due to his 
extreme intoxication at the time of the crime. Thankfully, the jury and the Judge saw through this sorry excuse.
District Attorney John Tyson, Jr. told reporters after the sentencing, “I had not anticipated that (the showing of the photographs), but the court was so moved by the facts of this case and those pictures are now the law in this case.” Those pictures include photographs taken before and after the murder. For baby Danny, they are the only photographs of him ever taken.
Speaking of the unusual provision of the sentence, the children’s uncle, Kam Phengsisboum, said “Make him think a little bit, suffer a little bit. Right now, I’m sure he’s got lots of friends waiting on him over at Atmore (prison).” If only that were true, but death row inmates are segregated from the general population. Individuals typically spend 10-12 years on Alabama’s death row as their appeals go through the system before facing the death chamber. I hope that the Alabama Department of Corrections takes to heart the orders of Judge Graddick and not only shows Lam the photographs of his children every day, but wallpapers his tiny cell with them so that there is no escape from what he did. Let him see their smiling, shining faces in life, and their cold sightless eyes in death and may they haunt him for the rest of eternity.

January 12, 2008 – Danny Phan’s remains are found by duck hunters in a marsh near Port Aux Pin, Alabama.
January 13, 2008 – Ryan Phan’s remains are discovered in Bayous La Fouche Bay, Alabama.
January 15, 2008 – Lindsey Phan’s remains are discovered near Pascagoula, Mississippi.
January 20, 2008 – Hannah Phan’s remains are recovered near Venice, Louisiana.

Nissa… he is going to get MUCH better than what he deserves… what he actually deserves is to be ruthlessly killed by someone while he’s in shackles; give him a taste of what it’s like to helpless while someone takes your life.
The pictures are a nice touch. That should be mandatory in every murder conviction.

Finally! That is one of my favorite fantasy punishments, and this judge uses it! I LOVE this judge! He even went so far as to order that he look at the death pictures! Way to go!!
I swear I will go postal if the ACLU tries to intervene. This sick fucker should be strapped to an electric shock machine that zaps him anytime he is not looking at the photos.
I am going to hunt for a way to contact the judge, and let him know that at least some people are behind him 1000%.

i agree give the judge a fucking medal if more baby killers shared his fate maybe the rate of child murders would decrease judges are afraid to punish the offenders fuck them who have taken an innocent life and sentenced a family to a life sentence of pain and heartache for there loss i know killing these assholes doesn’t bring them back but this case is one that gives me the piece of mind that one less baby killing asshole is breathing the same air as my children ,I plead for all justice systems to take a harder stance on murderers not just the extra depraved kind like this shit bag but all killers

I would have shackled him and thrown him off a bridge as part of his death sentence.
The pictures would have come into play beforehand, I would have painted a mural of them in glow in the dark paint on his cell’s ceiling, that way, when the lights go out, he’s forced to see it.
Lack of sleep + shackled feet when being thrown off a bridge = POETIC JUSTICE.

there is no penalty harsh enough for a man who murders his children…. to get back at his wife? And then he goes home and files missing person reports to cover his ass and tell his wife some woman named “kim” stole their children. That poor woman. I look at the photos of these smiling children and I know so many families would have taken them in with love if the parents couldn’t cope.

I think I like the way this judge thinks–possibly staring at his childrens pictures will make him want to die and not use his appeals–getting this loser to hell as quick as possible.

I am not even for the death penalty, on the grounds that I don’t trust the goverment to have power of life or death over it’s citizens. But I loved the picture idea. Good one, judge. I hope that haunts the fuck out of him.
We need more Judges on the bench like Judge Graddick. I hope those pictures fill Luong with more mental anguish and sorrow than waiting for the death penalty would ever bring.

Yeah, death row. He will sit there for 20 years or so while we pay, with our tax dollors. to feed and clothe the SOB. The US court system is too soft on losers like him. Kill him now and save us all some cash and give the family faster closure.
Agree. However, at least if he sits there for 20 years, lets make it as miserable a 20 years as we possibly can. Let his inner demons eat him up as he sees evidence of what he destroyed, 7,300 times before we finally kill him.
I would rather keep these human scumballs alive and miserable for their natural lives. I think it’s a far more dreadful punishment than a humane death. My objection is that the conditions that these wastesacks live in is far too good. Bread and water, no TV, no books, no magazines and no human contact except Barry Manilow music 24/7 – for starters. And photos of the victims plastered all over the walls of the cell, of course.
That would probably be way more incentive for these turds to stay out of jail than what we do now. For most of these people, jail is just an institution. They can get used to it.
I think something akin to stripping the flesh off of his body bit by bit via Hellraiser might be a better solution. Or medical experiments. Don’t we need test subjects? He can earn his keep while he waits on death row. What a worthless piece of offal.

I remember this case. It was kinda close to where I live, so this story got a lot of media attention in our local area. This was one of those cases that reminds you that you can still be shocked even when you think that you’ve heard everything and nothing else could possibly shock you……then – surprise!!! Another gut-turning story to shock your morals to their foundation. This guy deserves way worse than hell. To kill your own children just to get a little revenge on your wife – what a twisted fuck!! This guy deserves a slow and painful death for what he put those innocent babies through. I keep picturing the terror and thoughts that must have been going through their minds wondering why “Daddy” is hurting them like this. That thought makes me physically ill and want to vomit. I hope he dies a painful death!!
Toss him not off a high bridge where he might die quickly but into an alligator -hungry gator-filled pit-no need to pay $ for him to set on death row for 20 years and gators got to eat-though they would probably refuse to eat this pathetic hell bound loser-
I love the picture idea but they should take him off suicide watch and give him things to try to commit suicide with that are not sharp enough to do the job and make him take showers in lemon juice after. Give him pills so he thinks he is going to kill himself and let them turn out to be placebo’s or sugar pills if you will. I think it would make him insane that he can’t die and staring at those pictures and maybe at the end let him try to slice off his own head off with a little knife since he will think he is immortal. I’m sure people here would pay money to see that and then he would earn his keep. Shit put it on ppv.
WOW! You are a GENIUS! I would definitely watch this on PPV- I have lots of friends that would watch this too. I think you would have to wait to start filming until he had taken about 200 pills and was pacing back and forth, drooling and mumbling to himself.
I was recently on vacation in Mobile to see my family that lives there. I just moved from Mobile Alabama in 2006, they are going to name the Daulphin Island Bridge “The Angel Bridge” for these children. I crossed that bridge several times while I was down there recently and thought what a sick Son of a bitch he is. I didn’t know that he was on PYSIH and I was actually researching this story to submit it. Guess I’ll have to find another one huh?!? Good Work on this story Blondie.
