Joshua Enriquez
This handsome fellow is convicted felon Joshua Enriquez, aged 25. Joshua isn’t a very nice guy. Any woman foolish enough to get into a relationship with him soon finds out that he he is abusive, controlling, and all the other things that make up what most people would call an asshole.
Twenty-year-old Karina Paredes was one of those unfortunate woman who had the bad luck to get involved with Joshua Enriquez. During the course of their two year long relationship, Enriquez would punch, choke and suffocate Karina. Enriquez also shot her in the arm, stabbed her in the leg and threatened to hurt her family if she told anyone who did it to her.
Karina Paredes described some of violence she experienced at the hands of Joshua Enriquez for the Chicago Sun-Times:
Paredes. . . .said Enriquez’s anger flared when he drank. He sometimes accused her of cheating. He was not remorseful.
“He wouldn’t even let me scream,” she said of the one of the attacks. “He just told me to shut up. . . . He would choke me. He held my face in the snow.”
Paredes recalled his stabbing her so deep into her thigh she couldn’t walk for two days. He also shot her in the arm last year and then threatened her, warning her not to tell doctors that he had done it. . . .
Eventually Karena Paredes had taken all she could, and she dumped Mr. Wonderful. Unfortunately for her, Joshua Enriquez was having none of that. He began to stalk her.
On the morning of May 3rd, 2009, Karina was riding in a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am driven by her girlfriend, 21-year-old Maria Ortega, in the area of Chicago known as Humboldt Park. Ortega’s 
sister, Gabriella Almanza, 22, and Nicole Mijares, 19 were also along for the ride.
The four women had stropped at a gas station when suddenly Joshua Enriquez, who had been following them unnoticed, pulled up in his 2000 Jeep and began arguing with the group. The four got into their car and left, thinking the incident was over. It wasn’t.
Enriquez followed them in his Jeep and began repeatedly ramming into the Grand Am, causing the Ortega to lose control. The car flew off the road, crashing into a tree at the southwest corner of Humboldt Park. Maria Ortega described what it was like:
“The first time Joshua threw his Jeep into my car, that was just like the biggest shock. After that, no one reacted, just focused on driving faster and faster to try to get away from him. This was no accident. From the very first time he hit us to the second and third time. He could have actually stopped,”
“He just kept hitting us harder, hitting us harder. My last thought was, don’t hit the tree, don’t hit the tree, don’t hit the tree.”
Nicole Mijares and Gabriella Almanza were both pronounced Dead On Arrival at an area hospital. Karena Paredes and Maria Ortega were critically injured in the crash but survived.
Joshua Enriquez rolled his jeep, but managed to walk away from the wreck. And walk away he did. It took five days for detectives to find and arrested Enriquez. Several members of the community tipped them off to where he was hiding out.
At Nicole Mijares’ house, her eldest brother laid red rose petals from the front sidewalk up the porch stairs to the front door in her honor.
“She lost her life for nothing,” said her brother Benji Rodriguez, 27. “… She was always smiling. … If you knew Nichole, you knew Nichole. She was always honest with you.”
Nicole Mijares attended Josephinum Academy and would have gone to prom Friday. She worked at a health club managed by her older brother. College brochures have been arriving at their home, and she talked of being a doctor.
Maria Ortega said her sister Gabriella Almanza was treasured by her friends.
“In everybody’s hearts and memories, there was no one like Gaby. No other girl like her,” Ortega said. “She was just so joyful. She always had people cracking up. She made people open up.”
Joshua Enriquez was charged with 2 counts of First Degree Murder and 2 Counts of Attempted First Degree Murder. He was denied bond and is being held in the Cook County Jail. His lawyer has stated several times that Joshua is extremely remorseful, but insists that the whole thing was a terrible accident.

Not important, but Humboldt Park as far as I’m aware isn’t a seperate city but rather a neighborhood in Chicago (like Rogers Park, Lakeview, Boystown, Wrigleyville, Albany Park, etc.) I used to live in Humboldt Park and it’s kind of crime central. Someone broke into our car just to steal a pair of gloves. And yeah, this guy is a scumbag.

Yeah Max, Humboldt Park is on the north, northwest side of the city. Saw this on the news when it happened. And the only thing he is sorry for is that he got caught. Hope the bastard likes Cook County lockup.

I am telling you, the more you allow an abusive person to manipulate you and threaten you, the more their sense of entitlement grows. They increasingly view you as property, not a partner. And this is a prime example of how dangerous someone like that really is. It wasnt just Karina who was affected. Two young girls lost their lives for the sole fact that they associated with her.

what a loser. I am beyond sick of these “men” thinking that they own someone and are entitled to do what they want. I had a friend whose boyfriend was like this. A couple of years ago she broke up with him and we were driving when we saw him in his car. he chased us for a good 20 minutes before she finally rushed to my house. When he got there(about 2 secs after us), he actually chased her into MY house… my mom was quick to step in and when my brother showed up with a baseball bat at the door he got the message and left. needless to say, we were both terrified. I can only imagine what these poor girls went through and the fact that 2 girls had to lose their lives for this loser makes me angry, really angry. “men” like this think they are Gods gift and they should have their balls cut off, just to emasculate him and prove what lil bitches they are…

Wait Poptart… Karina does hold some responsibility for this situation. Not because of this asshole’s contention of course, but for the same reason that lots of women bear some responsibility. She stayed with this abusive SOB for two years. She allowed him to beat her, choke her, smash her face in the snow, stab her, and even fucking SHOOT her. She was a murder victim waiting to happen.
Maybe she finally left him because she met another guy, which is no excuse for him to do what he did, but certainly is a factor that a woman needs to consider when she leaves an abusive asshole like this. And then, to be quite honest – it does not sound like the women used even the smallest amount of common sense when he started his attack. The driver “drove faster and faster” to get away. I can imagine that the women were angry and excited as well as scared, and maybe the adrenaline caused them to run like that. The smart thing would have been to slow down to maybe 10-15mph and immediately call 911. Too fast for him to jump out of his car and run to theirs, but slow enough that they would not DIE if they crashed while they waited for the cops.
Regardless, that does not mean that the women were to BLAME for this. That dishonor belongs entirely to el Gordo (the fat one) up there. But certainly the women’s actions contributed to the horrible outcome.
We need to teach women to stop playing victim, and to take control of their lives, at the same time teaching them not to let anger guide their reactions. Had Karina walked away from this lardass after the first slap, and had the driver used her frontal cortex (reason and rational decisions) rather than her amygdyala (impulse and emotion) this situation would probably not have happened or would not have resulted in two innocent deaths.
But that’s all incidental – that Fatsack is the direct, total, 100% CAUSE of the deaths, and he holds 100% BLAME. I hope he melts in hell.

I live across the street from where this happened and saw the whole thing. My husband was the first to call 911- Joshua Enriquez not only killed these women by hitting them repeatedly in his (much larger vehicle) he also flipped his own car landing on the roof.
Amazingly he walked away- or rather- this total piece of shit human called his homie on his cell and was picked up and whisked away while the three women were trapped injured (or dead) in their car and the fourth lay on the ground in the grass injured.
What kind of world is this were humans treat other humans like this? It’s totally disgusting. Where are the parents of Joshua and how was he raised to be a complete animal? I’m glad he lived- he will be haunted by this act for the rest of his life. RIP to the ladies killed. It was terrible terrible day.
