This nasty hag is Maliea A. Martin. Maliea seems to have some problems getting her priorities straight. On Monday she was arrested for walking out of the Wal-Mart in Hannibal, Missouri with $750 worth of stuff. That’s a bad priority, isn’t it? But it’s nothing compared to what she did two days later. You see, Maliea apparently got in a bit of a ruckus with an old boyfriend, and called the cops.
It gets a bit murky here, but apparently a different guy – Joshua A. McAtee, who is not the bad boyfriend – came out and decided to get all aggressive with the cops. Why? Who knows? There is no known relationship between Martin and McAtee, which makes what happened a few minutes later even more incredible.

SONTOYA GUILTY IN WOMAN’S DEATH DURING SEX ASSAULT
BY PAT PHEIFER, Star Tribune
Two families sobbed in a St. Paul courtroom Thursday night when Michael C. Sontoya was convicted of first-degree murder while committing a sexual assault and second-degree murder while committing a felony assault in the Sept. 30 death of Gabriela Romo.
Ramsey County District Judge Marybeth Dorn set sentencing for 9:30 a.m. today. Sontoya, 32, of St. Paul, faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison, with a minimum of 30 years.
There’s only one person who knows exactly what transpired the night of Sept. 29-30 when Romo went home with Sontoya, a man she’d known since second grade and trusted as a friend, County Attorney Susan Gaertner told the jury in her closing argument Thursday.

Here’s a nice little something I’ve never heard of before.
How many of us have heard of parents who rub a little whiskey or brandy on their baby’s gums to ease the pain of teething, or even used that old home remedy themselves?
Quite a few I’d guess.
Now, taking it to the next level, how many of us have heard of people who slip their kid a little booze to help them get to sleep when they’re cranky or uncooperative? Not so many, but it’s still not that big a deal to some parents.
This is 26-year-old Jessica Ann Barlow Miner.

This is Michael Carrasco Sontoya, age 32. Michael enjoys rough sex, and it seems he doesn’t care if the women he’s with isn’t quite so into it as he is. Some of us, in fact, most of us would call that rape, but not our boy Mikey here. He just says, “Well, the rougher the better.”
Unfortunately for Gabriela Romo, 31, the Michael Sontoya’s of the world don’t come with warning labels.
On September 30th, 2008, Police and Paramedics were called to Sontoya’s apartment at about 6:45AM and found Gabriela Romo, reportedly unconscious according to Santoya.
Paramedics found Gabriela lying on her back, fully dressed, on a bedroom floor. St. Paul Fire District Chief Fawn Hawkinson, who was present on the scene, and another paramedic saw blood on the bedroom floor and walls. It appeared someone had tried to clean it up.

STEVEN LOPEZ’ AND ANDREW WALTERS’ SUCCESSFUL APPEALS REVERSED BY NEW MEXICO SUPREME COURT
Back in November of 2008 when I wrote the original story (Read It Here), I said Steven Lopez and Andrew Walters had just successfully appealed their convictions to the New Mexico Court Of Appeals in the case of the abuse and murder of five-month-old Brianna Lopez. That was not entirely true. Actually the court found that all three defendants (Brianna’s mother, Stephanie Lopez, was also convicted) should not have been tried together because it violated their right to cross examine all the witnesses against them in 2006. It’s all very lawyerly, so please don’t ask me to explain the details.

Leo Weingarten, who is Israel Weingarten’s younger brother, prepared a statement for Brooklyn Federal Court to be read at the end of Izzy’s sentencing hearing in support of his niece, the victim. I’ve read it, and it as powerful and touching a document as I’ve ever had the privilege to read. Leo is a man who has his priorities straight, and I wish I could have the chance to shake his hand. I can only imagine how hard it must have been to go against his brother, but it was more important to him that he do the right thing than the accepted thing, and that makes him a man I would like to someday call my friend.

These two beauties are Gayle and Sheila Muhs. Gayle, 45, and Sheila, 45, are VERY protective of their privacy. They put up a sign in front of their property in Liberty County, Texas that reads “Trespassers will be shot. Survivers (sic) will be reshot!! Smile I will.” They mean it, too – They once took a shot at their next door neighbor.
Nice people, the Muhs.
The Coffeys are nice people too. Donald, 36, his wife Becky, and their two children Donald Jr., 7, and Destiny, 5, are described by their neighbors as nice, simple country folk who never bothered anybody and were always there to lend a helping hand. They enjoyed taking their vehicles off road in the woods near their Westlake, TX subdivision.

For those of you who do not have children, when the doctor places your firstborn child into your arms and you look into their eyes, you are instantly filled with awe at what you have created, intense love for the little being in your arms and a strong sense of responsibility. As you stare at the slimy mass of goo that is crying and changing colors, you are instantly transformed from being a woman into being a mom. You know that you will do whatever it takes to make sure that your child is safe, secure, happy, and healthy.
