Arnold T. Ross
As a rule, I get several suggestions a day for candidates to join the People You’ll See In Hell Allstars. It’s not that unusual for two people to nominate the same person, but it is very unusual when SIX people nominate the same dirtbag. That tends to get my attention. In fact, until today, it’s never happened before.
Until Arnold T. Ross came along that is.
Arnold, even at the tender age of 17, is quite the man’s man. His rap sheet already includes arrests for drug possession charges; obscenity; battery on a correctional officer; three counts of battery on a school teacher; theft; weapons charges; and assault. Our high school drop out is just the guy I’d want to babysit my 8-month-old baby while I was working my full time job, wouldn’t you?
Well, apparently Arnold’s 34-year-old line-in girlfriend thought he was. So it was really no surprise, to normal thinking people I mean, when the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call about an unresponsive infant at the home in Gretna, Louisiana, where Ross was watching the infant.
Sheriff’s deputies arrived and found eight-month-old Da-Von Lonzo apparently unconscious and in serious distress. He was immediately rushed to to the hospital where doctors pronounced him Dead On Arrival.
Naturally, police were curious to know how little Da-Von ended up in this condition of permanent deadness, and seeing no one in the home but young Arnold T. Ross, they were forced to ask him, “Arnold, what happened to little Da-Von?”
Imagine the officers surprise when Arnold answered them by saying, “Well officers, I believe little Da-Von fell down the stairs.”
Ahhh, the old ‘he fell down the stairs’ defense. I’m quite sure the deputies had never, ever heard that before. Unfortunately for Arnold, a neighbor reported hearing loud noises coming from the apartment, and investigators noted some inconsistencies in Ross’s statement.
Finally, after some prodding from the detectives interrogating him, Ross admitted that Da-Von began to cry while he was watching him and he:
“confessed to beating the infant repeatedly. According to Ross, the child began to defecate on himself. Ross claims he placed his fingers inside the infant’s rectum in an attempt to clean up the child.”
Arnold T. Ross has been charged with first-degree murder and aggravated rape in the death of Da-Von Lonzo, and he will face those charges as an adult.
Here’s one more case of a woman who was too stupid to have ever been allowed to be a mother, allowing a violent, immature thug to watch her helpless baby. And now that baby is dead and gone, because of that stupid mother’s decision that it was much more important to keep her man around the house than it was to keep her baby safe and secure.
This kind of thing seems to happen more and more, and still, women like this fool still put their children at risk. I’m glad that Arnold Ross is being prosecuted to the full extent of the law, but it’s time to start holding mothers responsible for the tragic results of their incredibly bad judgment too. Maybe it’s enough that they’ve lost a child, but I wonder if they really learn anything from that.
All I see is a dead kid, and I want everyone who is responsible to pay.

Thank you for writing the story. I do agree with you she is to blame also for the horrific death of her son.
I agree too. If she had left her child alone she would have been charged with neglect and that baby might still be alive. But no she made the sound minded decision to leave him with a thug, who beat and raped him. Her decision on child care resulted in the loss of her child. Her most important job after becoming a mother was to protect that child. She failed. She will have to live with it.
yes… failed is one way to put it… another way to put it is she fucked up, and will never, ever be able to live this mistake down.
These stories horrify me! It’s not so much the “people” that commit these kind of crimes (these “people” do nothing but succeed in pissing me off to no end and questioning why). It’s the victims and the horror that these helpless, defenseless victims must have felt/gone through.
Sometimes my body just aches and my mind is so completely numb from my own mental imagery that I am physically tired. Does anyone else get this way?
I agree with holding the mother accountable for this type of crime, especially with all of the “issues” surrounding young Ross’ short life. WTF was she doing living with a 17 year old boy anyways?

I knew him 6 years before we married, and 5 years before I introduced him to my daughter. He has been a wonderful stepfather to her, but he knows his place in my life. He knew before we started talking about marriage that if I had to choose between him and my kid, she wins. In fact, I told him from the beginning that I wouldn’t remarry till she was in college. He thought I was worth the wait, and it turned out that he was too good to wait for. She was 14 when we married, and he was often the calm voice of reason that she turned to when the teenage stuff was getting overwhelming.
This is why I am not against stepparents. (She has an awesome stepmother too). It all comes down to choosing the mate properly – and for God’s sake – KNOW them before you bring them into the family.
A 34-year-old screwing a 17-year-old boy? Practically speaking, what the hell does a 17-year-old know? I mean, yeah, there’s the five boners a night factor, but if someone gave you five cheeseburgers, none of them with anything on it but meat and cheese, dry, no ketchup, pickles, lettuce, etc. how much of a damn bargain is it? As a working single mother (in the military), I am away from home quite often. Much of the time I am getting my ass chewed by my seniors for not being able to be on call 24-7 when in garisson and take my ass chewings proudly I might add. My son goes to a special needs school and very good before and after school daycare and I’ll be damned if I’m going to let him stay with any Joe/ Jill that would let me push him off on. There is absolutely NO excuse, at all. Hell, I’ve never to this day left him with anyother man except his father no matter how much I love and trust my boyfriend. I just don’t get it. I know it’s hard. I feel for the mothers of these angels but there has got to be a point where a parnt is held responsible for whom they leave thier children with, especially a 17 year old thug with a long rap sheet.

You are 100% correct. It does in fact, take two people to make a baby, if that baby is made the old fashioned way. We a ripping women who put their sexual/romantic needs before the safety of their child/children. I can pretty much guarantee that if this was a case of a father choosing an utterly inappropriate mate, which resulted in the murder and rape of an eight month old baby, pretty much everyone here would be screaming “What is wrong with these MEN?” It is not an attack on women in general, but the ones who neglect their babies in favor of, as you so graphically stated, letting some fucktard “get on top of her.” As for the birth father in this case, well you pose an excellent question…where WAS he? The case with some similarity I recall is that pertaining to Nevaeh Richardson who was murdered in infancy. The person thought to have committed the crime was her father Chris Richardson. He was never convicted of the murder from what I recall.

I was wondering something about this case. If the mother of the child was 34 and this scumbag boyfriend was 17, then could she be charged with statutory rape charges for sleeping with a minor or is the age of consent law where they live lower than 17? Does anyone know? I am not saying she should be charged or not….I was just wondering because if this had happened in Florida, then she would have been charged. What a terribly sad situation all the way around.

I recently became a mother (well, step-mother) to a beautiful blode haired, blue eyed little girl. My (now) husband and I obtained custody of her at 8 months old due to the fact her biological mother broke 8 of the baby’s ribs. Her story was that she “squeezed her to make her stop crying…” then the stupid bitch waited over 24 hours before taking the baby to the hospital. She wasn’t even going to take her, but the grandma stepped in and made her. It’s taken everything in me not to seek retribution, she is in prison until 2014, but still. I love my setpdaughter as if she was my blood. How any person could hurt a baby or put a child in a dangerous situation is beyond me. Fuck life in prison, a bullet between the eyes is cheaper. Let me do it, they’ll never know what hit em!!!1
