Luis Antonio Mejia
El Modena High School in Orange County, California. What a place. First there was Principal Brent Bailey, 56. Principal Bailey was forced to resign from his position in the year 2007. This stemmed from an incident which occurred one sunny afternoon in a crowded park in December 2006. Principal Bailey was lurking on a trail which was known to be frequented by prostitutes. As a man approached Bailey, the principal began touching his genitals, then pulled out his unit and started masturbating. What Principal Bailey didn’t know was that the man who he thought was a prostitute was in fact an undercover police officer. Oopsie. Looks like Principal Bailey unwrapped his Christmas package a bit too late. Or maybe too early?
Then there was the music teacher, Carrie Atterbury, who faced eight felony counts in 2008 which resulted from her involvement in an ongoing sexual relationship with one of her male students, aged fifteen. “This one time, at band camp…..”
But seriously, this one takes the cake.
Meet forty-nine year old Luis Antonio Mejia. Mejia was a janitor at El Modena high school for over twelve years. Mejia is accused of groping and sexually assaulting a female special education student known as Jane Doe throughout the period of December 2008 and April 2009. Mejia started off by giving Jane Doe several small gifts such as money and candy. The two then started exchanging several notes , including “I love you” cards from Mejia. Additionally, Mejia was reported to have sent over 100 text messages to Jane Doe on her personal cell phone.
After successfully gaining the young girl’s trust, Mejia sexually assaulted Jane Doe in his office at the school on several occasions. It has been reported that on these occasions, Mejia instructed co workers to cover video surveillance cameras with tape so that he would not be detected alone in his office with the student. Other times, Mejia had co workers stand outside his office and “guard” his door, instructing them to be on the look out for his wife, who was known to drop by the campus unexpectedly. All of the co workers involved claim that they had no knowledge that Mejia was sexually assaulting Jane Doe in his office. At this time, it is unclear what the hell Mejia’s co workers thought he was doing with Jane Doe behind those closed doors.
In April 2009, Jane Doe confided in one of her classmates, a fellow special education student, that she was “in love” with Mejia. Jane Doe also told her friend about the sexual abuse which had occurred in the office. Thankfully, Jane Doe’s friend knew that this was not right and immediately went to her teacher with the information. So basically, a special needs student was smart enough to suspect that the relationship was inappropriate, but the staff who guarded doors and taped surveillance cameras weren’t? Yes, it’s another one of those WTF moments here at PYSIH.
Mejia was placed on administrative leave and a formal police investigation ensued. The school claims that they are “looking into” the staff who taped cameras and guarded doors while Jane Doe was being sexually abused by Mejia but at this time, those staff face no criminal charges.
Mejia is being charged with two felony counts of sexual penetration by foreign object on an incompetent victim, two felony counts of lewd acts on a dependent person by a caretaker, two counts of sexual penetration by foreign object of a minor, and one misdemeanor count of child annoyance. If convicted on all counts, Mejia will face up to thirteen years in prison.

WTF??? I don’t even wanna know what “sexual penetration by foreign object” means in this case. What I WOULD like to know is are they planning to charge these “co-workers” (read accomplices) who helped this douchebag cover his tracks?
I honestly don’t know what the world is coming to. There needs to be a more stringent screening process, maybe even psychological testing, before hiring people to work with/around children.

Ours was the head coach for the boys teams. He had an affinity for high school tail; he eventually married someone who had just graduated high school.
Our Senior AP English Teacher was having sex with one of our classmates, she was 18 though…. they ended up dating after graduation for about a year. He left his wife and kids for her, then they split up. She must have gotten too old for him lol.

You might want to make that sentence about the Principal and the undercover cop less ambiguous. When I first read it, I thought the cop started boxing the clown in front of Bailey. For a second I was like, “um, that’s a pretty clear-cut case of entrapment right there.”
That freaked me out too! I had to re-read it a couple times before I figured out that it wasn’t the cop that pulled his junk out.

What an asshole to take advantage of this young girl. It’s scary to think about these sickos being in schools. It’s stories like these that make me thankful that I am able to home school and do distance learning education with my daughter. I hope this girl is able to move forward because she deserves the best in life!

I’m a little concerned and curious about the Jane Doe… I hope she is getting the help that she needs… Are there any details about her disability? Was she competent enough to make such decisions? From the article, I am assuming she wasn’t… and THAT makes my blood boil to know that there are assholes out there that would take advantage of a special needs child. Sick sick SICK! I want to be sure.

A teacher at my school is rumored to be having an affair with one of the kids at my school. He’s 19, but I still think its sick and I wanna know if I can report her. She touches all of the males students inappropiately and she openly flirts with them. The staff does nothing and no one seems to mind.

If you were my kid, I would take the problem off of your hands, but I guess not all parents will do that. So, if you don’t feel like you can talk to your parents about it, I would suggest that you consider reporting it directly to the police. If you feel like your principal is a decent person, you might try notifying him/her. But two things, make SURE that you explain that it is a rumor unless you have pretty good factual evidence, and don’t even think about faking a complaint just because you don’t like the teacher. The authorities will keep you anonymous unless they think that you are pranking – then they will come after you.
Otherwise, good on you. I am happy to see that a young person has morals and scruples and is willing to at least consider doing the right thing. No teacher should ever be in any kind of sexual relationship with a student, regardless of age. It is a serious abuse of trust. Believe it or not, when teens grow up, having that kind of encounter will impact them forever.

I’ve seen them spending time with each other after school and she’s always all over him. The school is very small, about 150 kids so its not like it isnt being noticed. Its just accepted as the norm.
No one at the school tries to talk to this kid because we dont wanna compete with a teacher.

Because she’s only 19 (which sounds too young to be a teacher 0 she should be in school herself learning to be a teacher) some of the adults may overlook the whole thing because the two are so close in age.
The fact that they are not discreet in a small school screams that neither of them have much common sense – people may not care because they are both thought of as trash and why bother caring for such.

Our school cop was having sex with a student. In jr high school. It was said to be consensual though. But junior high you are like 13 or 14 right? I don’t think he got into any trouble for it either.
