RAUL SARINANA, CATHY SARINANA SENTENCED TO DEATH IN NEPHEWS’ MURDERS

The marriage of Raul and Cathy Sarinana was “a match made in hell” that resulted in the deaths of two defenseless boys, a judge said Friday before sentencing the Corona couple to death.
Raul Ricardo Sarinana, 42, and Cathy Lynn Sarinana, 32, were convicted in March of torturing and murdering 11-year-old Ricky Morales, their nephew. Authorities have said they believe the couple also killed 13-year-old Conrad Morales, Ricky’s brother, in Randle, Wash. Charges have not been filed in that death.
In pronouncing sentences for the Sarinanas in Superior Court in Riverside, Judge Paul E. Zellerbach followed the recommendations two juries made in April. A sentence of death in California is automatically appealed.
Cathy Sarinana will be the 16th woman on California’s death row. Overall, 680 inmates await execution. The most recent execution was in January 2006.
Zellerbach said a dominant factor in his decision was the way Ricky was abused repeatedly by both Sarinanas. In autopsy photos shown at the trial, the boy’s body was covered with new and old scabs, bruises and scars, and a pathologist testified that Ricky had cracked ribs and a torn lung.
“The ongoing and almost mind-numbing extent of the torture inflicted on these boys … is horrifying,” Zellerbach said.
Ricky died in a closet at the Sarinanas’ Corona home on Christmas Day 2005 after Raul Sarinana kicked and beat him for cleaning a bathroom too slowly, according to trial testimony.
Raul Sarinana also told police he had beaten Conrad and later found him dead. The older boy’s body was found encased in concrete in a trash can outside the Corona home.
In a courtroom packed with members of the Sarinana and Morales families and members of the two juries, five of Ricky and Conrad’s relatives told the court Friday how the boys’ deaths have devastated their family.
Rosa Sarinana, the boys’ mother, described how Conrad and Ricky always knew when she was upset and tried to help. Now her main consolation is her youngest son, the child she was carrying when she learned of Conrad and Ricky’s deaths, she said.
She sent Ricky and Conrad to live with the Sarinanas when she and other relatives couldn’t care for them.
“How can I enjoy life after what they’ve done to my sons?” Rosa Sarinana said.
“God has given me another chance, but it’s not the same.”
She and the boys’ sister, Destinee Morales, 19, said they believed death sentences would serve justice, although Rosa added that Raul and Cathy should suffer the torture her sons did.
Jurors were released from their obligations in April but some returned Friday. The harrowing experience of the three-month trial has stayed with Brad Wrightstone, 34, a Riverside resident who was foreman of Raul Sarinana’s jury.
“I pretty much think about it every day,” Wrightstone said. “I wanted to make sure that our decision that we came up with was upheld, and if it wasn’t I wanted to know why.”

It always warms my heart to see the death penalty actually being USED- especially when it’s on people who torture and murder children. Yay.
Just because they got the death penalty, does not mean they’ll GET the death penalty…more the pity.
I wouldn’t count on a death sentence for either one.. They deserve it, no doubt, but this is california we’re talking about.. There’s nothing wrong with california or the people in it, but there’s a high percentage of bleeding hearts per capita..
On a side note, MN doesn’t have the death penalty, but I wish we did.. Anyone remember Alfonso Rodriguez and the Dru Sjodin case?? That guy was a level three sex offender, and he’d already been imprisoned for kidnapping and rape.. The only reason he was finally sentenced to death was that they were able to make it a federal case because he transported her across state lines.. I read that typically there’s about 10 years of appeals before a sentence is carried out..
This is why there should just be a date set.. If someone doesn’t get out of the death penalty in a certain amount of time – say, oh .. five years.. and is, without a doubt, guilty.. thats it.. They’re done..
Yes, we Californians can be stupid at times. Sometimes I’m embarrassed that we have an idiotic talentless actor as governor, but then I remember that once we had an idiotic talentless actor as president, and then I don’t feel so bad.
What sucks about the death penalty, when it’s rarely applied, is not so much that it’s putting POSs to death- rather, it’s that it doesn’t put them to death quickly enough.

I can’t think of any argument that any anti death penalty person could come up with to justify not putting these two morons to death…too bad it will take a long time of appeals before it can be carried out.
I hope they burn eternally for killing these two boys. Conrad & Ricky deserved so much better in life.
Also, the last article said that the boys showed signs of being sexually abused. Were they charged with sexual abuse charges? Does anyone know?

Hmmm.. an old friend of mine struggled with her weight her whole life. When she had a daughter, she came down with the hammer. The kid was always hungry, but my friend regulated every morsel that went into the kids mouth. When she was about 5, they were my house and I gave the girl a cup of yogurt and a banana, and my friend snatched the banana away and reamed me out for feeding the child. Well, I am not a shrinking violet in real life either, so I went right back at her about healthy snacks vs. donuts – but to no avail.
Our friendship ended soon after, but I was close to some of her family, and heard the nasty progression. Naturally, the kid began stealing food which then would get her punished (by being even stricter with food) and so on. Needless to say, the girl (now in her twenties) had a really hard adolescence. That whole food thing caused addictions (to all kinds of things) and the second she was out of her mother’s sight, she would steal money and eat anything she could. She also had bulimia and was cutting herself etc.,etc., etc. It was almost a case study in how to destroy a child.
Anyway – that may help to explain why Fatty McFatterson and her kind starve the kids. Or maybe they are just nasty skank whores who like to hurt others?

Take a look at her original booking photo. If you’re not planning on eating any time soon. And the part where she put out her cigarettes on the boys’ bodies (shudder). This was one case I’ll try to forget for a long time.

if anyone deserves death, it’s these two slobs. somehow though, i find it inadequate. people like this should be tortured until they die, just how they did those two lil boys.
as for their mom, i don’t know her circumstances as to why she couldn’t care for her children, but hopefully she doesnt send her newest baby off to live with someone else…

This is the type of stuff that makes me want to get into the business of vigilante justice.
And as a CA resident, I can’t even explain how pissed I am at CPS. And anyone who has experienced the foster-to-adopt program knows how amazing it is that CA will leave loving, responsible parents in a painful adoption-limbo while simultaneously throwing kids in foster care with people who just want the money or leaving them with shady relatives so CPS can ignore them. It’s maddening.
The system needs to do a better job looking into the family before letting kids live with them. Keeping the family together is not always a good thing. Personally, I would have taken one look at these two and turned right back around with those boys in tow.

I was their landlord in Randle, WA. I never met them but my employees did. They told me how the young boys were nice kids. Sarinana family put me in a stress. Community of Randle, Lewis County got devastated because of this sick couple. Death sentence is too easy for them. They need a life sentence to rotten in jail and think how bad people they are.
Amen to your observations. Life in prison without possibility of parole is so much worse and richly deserved.

i am admittedly large. although as opposed to the sick fucks we see here on PYSIH on a too frequent basis, my kids have been the inspiration for me to make healthier eating choices for them and me. I’ll tell you one thing, sometimes times are tight, and they always eat before me or their dad.
These people disgust me, and they deserve to die.
Those boys could’ve been the thing that saved that fugly mass from herself, instead she used them as punching bags and ashtrays, and then threw them in the trash. Her male pis mate is just as repulsive and i am glad that justice will eventually be served. Just wish it was waaaaaaaay sooner.

Death is too kind for people like this. We should find an island near the north pole where escape is impossible and let these animals live out the rest of their pathetic lives shivering and hungry. We could make regular airdrops of pig slop for them to eat and give them just enough clothes to keep from freezing (although the fat pig has plenty of blubber to protect her already). This is what we should do, but instead we taxpayers will spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on their incarceration and the appeals process.
I think our death penalty should work this way:
after you’ve exhausted your appeals, and i only say that because some people have been proven innocent by dna after being on death row for many years.
but after that, you should be taken out, shot in the head, and your family should be billed for the bullet.
I can afford these two the fair trials and appeals that they seek. That’s what makes me different than them. I have justice in my life, and they aren’t human enough to afford anyone justice. These aren’t humans like you and I. So appeal away, Sarinanas. In the end, we all die. The true judgment….your true punishment, will come at the hands of God Almighty, and there is nothing I can inflict upon you like the wrath that you have surely wrought for yourself in the next world. I’m an anhialationist, so I believe that you’ll ultimately simply cease to exist, and those boys are safe from your abuse. I will warn you to protect yourself in prison, though…people like you don’t last long. That’s the thing…even in prison, even the WORST criminals know that what you did was pure evil, that what you did makes you the scum of the Earth, the scourge of humanity, and a plague on life everywhere, and the vast majority of them have children. So watch out.
