The only completed tests appear to be on the swabs from the animals themselves, which were not the tests of the equipment.

I don't know why this testing eggs on and on and on. I think we may in fact get some of the same updates about this case as far as public news articles. I've continued to update this thread, for good or ill with anything that changes, including docket changes.

Note how the "Seized Items" header considers that no explanation has been given regarding the testing of the tools.

Hi Jason - how have you been? :)

Not "disingenuous", I included the link to the full article - just posted the only intelligent part of it. lol

So, they've had reports on DNA results - upon which "everything hung" - since July, and September (the DA asserts they just got these reports...more damage to 'credibility"); NO DNA is found. And what exactly are they doing with the "alleged" tools? -- examining them at the sub-atomic level? In seven (7!!) months, and while attempting to build their case, you'd think they would have AT LEAST got this in hand...

This young man is innocent of all charges. No human is responsible for the deaths of these cats. It's not over yet, but I stand right where I did from the beginning - based on many similar cases across the country, and for reasons already stated long ago.

Your post hadn't been approved yet when I commented with the same, completed post. It is slightly disingenuous to abbreviate the article on the defense comment only. I still argue the tools are the only connection they can make. The likelihood of finding usable human DNA on the bodies of the animals was slight.

The tools... when are they going to directly(not indirectly as they have already)discuss the tool testing?

No human DNA found on mutilated cats in South Miami-Dade
http://www.miamiherald.com/2010/02/23/1494648/no-human-dna-detected-on-slain.html
The Miami-Dade police crime lab did not find any human DNA on 11 of the cats slain and mutilated during a killing spree that terrorized South Miami-Dade pet owners last summer, according to newly released court records.

NO FORENSIC TIES

The negative results mean there still is no forensic evidence linking accused cat killer Tyler Weinman, 19, to the grisly mutilations.

However, the state is still awaiting results from lab tests being conducted on scalpels, clothes and other items seized in Weinman's car and house.

Weinman is accused of killing and mutilating 19 cats in all.

Miami-Dade crime scene technicians swabbed the mouths and paws of the dead felines, hoping the animals bit or scratched their attacker and drew human blood or skin cells that would provide a DNA match.

CLIENT `INNOCENT'

``We are excited that the results are in and confirm what we've been saying since day one -- Tyler Weinman is innocent,'' said David Macey, Weinman's defense attorney. ``This is just another step toward vindication.''

Prosecutors declined comment.

Weinman is charged with 19 counts each of felony animal cruelty and improperly disposing of an animal body, as well as four counts of burglary for allegedly returning to homes to dump the cats.

If DNA linking Weinman to the killings is eventually found, it would bolster the government's circumstantial case.

SEIZED ITEMS

Detectives seized scalpels, knives, nylon rope with duct tape attached, computers and clothing from his car and home, but they have yet to make any connection between those items and the killing spree. Weinman's father is a dentist.

In arresting Weinman last June, police detectives said they had attached an an electronic tracking device to his car that placed him in the immediate area of one killing reported June 6.

In an interview with police, Weinman described in detail how he had dissected cats in anatomy class at Palmetto Senior High. Weinman had long red scratches that suggested he had struggled to subdue the felines, police said.

he just seems a little too eager to toy with police and discuss cat dissection to me. He also seems a little too smug and arrogant for his own good. He knows that at the point in time of this article, that there's no hard evidence against him so he's just going to keep dancing around the issue until he's let go.

If he's innocent, someone should smack him for his attitude. If he's guilty, someone should slice him open and pose him in front of other animal abusing assholes.
