TEEN TAUNTS ANIMAL RIGHTS ACTIVISTS AFTER GUILTY PLEA FOR KILLING CAT IN OVEN

A heartless kitty killer hissed angrily at animal rights activists Wednesday, grinning widely as she took credit for stuffing the helpless pet into a 500-degree oven.
“It’s dead, bitch!” snapped an unrepentant Cheyenne Cherry, sticking her tongue out after a plea bargain that will put her behind bars for a year in the May 6 killing of tiny Tiger Lily.
Cherry, 17, was confronted after her guilty plea in Bronx Supreme Court to charges of animal cruelty and attempted burglary in the May 6 killing at her former roommate’s apartment.
Tiger Lily was left to die inside the blistering oven after Cherry and a 14-year-old friend trashed the apartment of Valerie Hernandez, destroying furniture before stealing DVDs and food.
After her arrest, Cherry told police the cat killing was “just a joke.”
In court Wednesday, Cherry admitted to Judge Margaret Clancy that the younger girl put the cat in the oven – and “I didn’t let the cat out.”
The pair fled the apartment because they didn’t want to hear the dying cat’s cries or desperate scratching at the oven door, authorities said.
The second girl is facing trial in Family Court because of her age. Prosecutor Jennifer Troiano said Cherry was granted a plea deal because her cohort was “more culpable” for the crimes.
Under the agreement, Cherry pleaded guilty to two charges in a six-count indictment. She waived her right to appeal and agreed not to keep a pet for the next three years. Cherry, jailed on a probation violation, faces formal sentencing July 31.
As she exited the courtroom, she passed a row of animal rights activists outraged by her crime.
“Justice for Tiger Lily,” read one sign held by the demonstrators.
Sharon Tuerlings, 43, of Levittown, L.I., extended both her middle fingers and kissed them. Cherry grinned widely, stuck out her tongue and responded with her profane retort.
Cherry is not new to animal crimes.
She was busted last year for using a BB gun to dog-nap a teacup Yorkie with her boyfriend. She was also arrested for robbing a man of his iPod at gunpoint.
The dozen animal lovers who attended the hearing said they represented more than 20,000 people who signed an online petition supporting harsh punishment for Cherry.
They were thrilled by the deal that guaranteed Cherry would do time for the cruel killing. “She is dangerous,” said Brooklyn cat owner Josie Marrero. “A very dangerous young lady.”
Tuerlings said she wanted to get a glimpse of the monster behind the cat execution. “It felt so good to look at her ugly face,” she said. “Those evil eyes that she has.”

The fur started flying in a Bronx Courthouse when a teenager charged with baking her ex-girlfriend’s cat in an oven taunted animal rights activists minutes after she pleaded guilty to animal cruelty.
“It’s dead, bitch,” said Cheyenne Cherry, 17 as she stuck out her tongue at the half a dozen cat crusaders who came to show support for Tiger Lily, the feline she admitted to roasting like a Thanksgiving turkey in June 2009.
The unrepentive act was aimed at Sharon Tuerlings, a Levittown mortgage saleswoman who moonlights as an animal rescuer. She flipped Cherry the double bird when she was exiting the courtroom.
“It felt good to look at her ugly face. She should have gotten a longer sentence,” said Tuerlings.
Cherry, who felt scorned by her lesbian lover and took out her rage on the woman’s cat, pleaded guilty to charges of attempted burglary and animal cruelty and will likely serve one year in jail. Cherry will also prohibited from owning a pet for three years.
According to Bronx assistant District Attorney, Jennifer Troiano, Cherry’s 14-year-old partner-in-crime was found to be more culpable for the putting cat in the oven, which started a fire at the Mott Haven home of Cherry’s ex-paramour, Valerie Hernandez, 19.

I want to share a story with you all.
Yesterday, I was out in my yard cleaning my car. Just a normal day in the neighborhood, I guess.
My big bad ferocious 20 pound pug, Gump, was keeping me company. I don’t keep him on a leash since he doesn’t ever stray more than 10 feet away from me (he is scared of everything).
Well, I turned my back for about 3 seconds and at that very minute my wonderful neighbor came across the center of my yard with her obnoxious barking wiener dogs and hoodlum son (who was for some unknown reason was carrying a broomstick). Gump ran into OUR yard towards the group, tail wagging and NOT barking. He would not ever have gotten closer to them than he actually had (about 10 feet). Then he sat down for a second and trotted his pleasantly plump self back toward where I was.
The reincarnation of the Devil child ran after him, swinging the stick as if it were a baseball bat. Gump was petrified. He stopped and hunched down, his usually curly tail was straight between his legs, and he was shaking. I honestly thought the kid was going to bash my puppy senseless. I looked at him and he turned around to go toward his mom.
I was livid.
His mom just kept happily walking her dogs and didn’t say a word. On her way back, I asked her to please refrain from walking on my property anymore. To which she replied, then I’ll have to walk too close to the street (since our property line goes to 3 feet from the road). Too bad, my dog has a right to run in his OWN yard without worrying about being beaten by someone who is technically tresspassing (signs are posted).
I guess I’m posting this because I’m curious as to why people feel like violence is the best defense against animals. I guess I could understand a bit more if he was a rabid rottweiler.
I have a feeling we will see my hoodlum broomstick weilding neighbor dumbass here soon, especially since his mom couldn’t have cared less about his actions.

Well, sometimes when people feel threatened by animal, they only know to resort to something every creature responds to: violence. Animals can’t talk it out with humans, so they are often victims of violence with no one to advocate for them. The kid was probably just trying to scare your dog… how old was he? It’s no excuse, and you were right to ask them to get off your property, but the mother should have told her son to get the fuck away from your dog and taken that damn stick away. Parents are supposed to give their children BOUNDARIES and teach them to respect all living things. ADA’s plea for a probationary record review!

the discussion, we could see that the Defense Attorney was clearly upset. The Judge left the court
room at one point with the Attorneys and was gone for 20 minutes!!!
Although there are many unanswered questions, all 8 of us felt certain that this move was a direct
result of all your letters, phone calls, faxes and support for justice!!
