    Sean Lynde

Sean_LyndeI’m not sure why there are a handful of people out there who have such an intense hatred of cats that the feel that torturing and killing these sensitive, gentle creatures is an OK thing to do. I tend to blame the cats for this. They are very discriminating about the type of people they show their affection to, and obviously they’re going to express nothing but disdain to those people who have such a serious defect in their character. Cat killers must find that quite antagonizing.

I imagine 36-year-old self employed graphic artist Sean Lynde probably had a resentment against cats well before he moved into his his girlfriend’s Upper West Side apartment on October 1st, 2008. On his Web site, Lynde doesn’t come off as a crazed cat killer, but The Daily News wrote that he made his preference for dogs perfectly clear:

He lists, among his favorite things:

“spending time on The Lake in Maine with my wonderful family and two of the most lovable dogs you could ever meet.”

Three days after Lynde moved into her apartment, Rachael Strate’s 15-year-old pet kitty Cleo was found behind the dryer with a mouth full of laundry detergent and evidence of head trauma. By the end of October, Strate’s other cat, Zoe also mysteriously suffered severe head trauma and had to be euthanized.

Rachel Strate didn’t suspect Sean Lynde in any way, and the following month she the woman adopted two kittens, Willie and Betty. Willie became unresponsive after his first night in the couple’s home and had trouble walking because his legs had stiffened from trauma. He was returned to his adopter.

Victims of Cat Killer Sean LyndeThe second kitten, Betty, died November 24th. Lynde told the veterinarian the kitten had suffered brain damage and stopped breathing after falling off a table, The second kitten, Betty, died Nov. 24. Sean Lynde told the veterinarian the kitten fell off a counter top and just stopped breathing.

After these two deaths, it became painfully obvious to anyone who knew the couple that Sean Lynde was a serial cat killer. In fact, one of their friends actually reported Lynde to the New York City branch of the A.S.P.C.A., but for some reason, nothing was done with the complaint.

Rachel Strate must have been crazy in love, because instead of booting Sean Lynde out on his ass, she instead adopted two more kittens named Emo and Bonafide. I would have thought by now the word would have gotten around and no one would have given her a cat for all the tea in China. The same day he was adopted, Dec. 18th, 2009, Emo was treated for a broken paw. A month later, on January 22nd, 2009, Emo went missing, never to be seen again.

Shortly before Christmas, Bonafide suffered phantom trauma resulting in blindness and brain damage. A month later, on January 23rd, the kitten’s body was discovered with it’s neck broken. That’s 5 dead cats and one severely injured in the space of 4 months. Even Rachel Strate couldn’t fool herself any longer. She broke up with him and went to the A.S.P.C.A.

Six months before Lynde was arrested, a warning was posted on Craigslist that read, “KEEP CATS AWAY FROM THIS MAN.” It was not immediately clear who put up the notice. Lynde was named on the site, which also posted a photograph of him wearing a paper crown from Burger King. “He is currently under investigation for six counts of aggravated animal cruelty,” the site said.

Assistant Director Joseph Pentangelo of the ASPCA, which arrested Lynde, said:

“I’ve never seen this series of incidents carried out against animals in my experience.”

Sean Lynde was arrested Friday, August 14th, 2009, on charges including six counts of felony animal cruelty. He pleaded not guilty at state Supreme Court in Manhattan and was freed on $5,000 bond. He faces 4 years in prison on the animal cruelty charges alone.

He was also charged with harassing and stalking Strate, which are misdemeanors. And this was not Lynde’s first brush with the law. He was busted in March of 2009 after he allegedly punched and broke ex-girlfriend Strate’s Apple Macbook, causing $800 worth of damage, police records show.

Editor’s Notes: So that makes him an abuser of women too – My God, what a cowardly son a bitch! What I wouldn’t give for a chance to get it on with this guy in a fair fight.

Leavn u a presntAll of the other cats I know dislike Sean Lynde as much as I do. This little orange tabby kitten sent in this photo, asking me to include it in my story, and I was more than happy to oblige.

The two kittens in the second picture are Bonifide (l.) and Emo, the last two victims of Sean Lynde. If that picture doesn’t break your heart, I don’t know what will, especially when you go back and read how they were tortured to death. What kind of person can look into those innocent eyes and feel the kind of hate it takes to kill? Sean Lynde is a budding psychopath, and if he hadn’t gotten busted for the cat killings, I think we would have been writing about how he chopped Rachel Strate’s head off.

I could never imagine doing such god awful things to helpless animals.

I hate snakes, petrified of them, can’t even see them on tv or in books, but if there is one on the road, I go around it or over it so I don’t kill it.

      Geez, what a sick bastard.

    2. AgJu says:

I absolutely LOVE cats! I’m a total cat person and have only ever had cats as pets. I currently have a wonderful little orange kittie named Dulcie. She has been my faithful cat for 9 years, spending as much time in my room as I do. She is playful and energetic and when it’s bedtime, she’ll come and sit on my pillow, waiting to be invited under the covers where she’ll sleep with my arm scooped around her.

So you can imagine that I get such a chill from reading stories about cruelty to cats (or any animals for that matter). I’m not someone who refers to my cat as, “my child,” because she’s not (she’s just a cat), but if anything were to happen to her I’d be crushed. This guy should go to Hell, but not before he’s suffered every trauma that those poor kitties suffered. :(

    3. Noelegy says:

Well, look on the bright side: He’s already creatively provided the solution for his own punishment.

(I’m a cat person. I cannot bear to devote too much thought to the specifics of the cruelty involved. For some reason, cats seem to bear the brunt of animal abuse.)

    4. sabocat85 says:

My ex-husband has a history of animal abuse and also abused me. These people cannot be trusted with any life. It starts with kittens, then with girlfriends/wives, and then who knows what.

    5. dooflotchie says:

I hate stories like this. It didn’t surprise me at all to find out this fuckin bastard abused his girlfriend too and then stalked her after she finally figured out he was a psycho and dumped him.

An ex-boyfriend of mine had a kid that was about 7 or 8 years old when we were together. He lived with his mother and visited us on weekends. I had an older cat that wasn’t raised around kids and she scratched the boy a couple of times when he tried to pet her, so he was afraid of her. I was so scared he’d lash out at her, I did all kinds of things to help them get along but I told myself if he ever deliberately hurt her he’d not set foot in my house again. Probably that would also mean his father would have moved out too but I’ll be damned if I’d ever put up with anyone abusing my cats, let alone me. Thankfully it never came to that.

I’m going to go pet and kiss my kittahs now!

    6. Maelstrom says:

Insane cat lover here too, and I so hate hearing about this….I can barely bring myself to read the details.

I will never, ever, ever, ever, ever understand how anyone can harm an animal. Nope. Not in a million years.

In honor of these poor kittens I hereby promise not to scold my siamese cat the next time she jumps from the floor to the door frame of my bedroom door at 2 am. like a damn ninja. – Oi, that cat can jump like nothing I have ever seen.

Absolutely fantastic creatures though, cats. I adore them.

    7. Z.Ward says:

At least this story is about cats being abused and not about parents killing their 3 year olds. Im sure this guy would have graduated to something bigger. What a sick fuck.

      • Anna says:

These types of comments are so damn stupid. There will almost always be something worse. These sorts of statements are zero consolation to the victims of crimes.

Seriously, are you going to start posting, “Well, at least the child was only raped and not murdered!” or “At least it was a teenager murdered and not a baby!”?

        • LJ says:

Yeah, I am sure your belittling response helps the vicitm here as well! (those poor little kitties)
Jesus, man let people say what they feel.
At least the commenter didn’t say something like, I love cats, they taste like chicken!
Leaving comments after stories all over the web has become ridiculous. The person next in line to respond is usually happier to attack another commenter than actually reply to the story!
And we wonder why we can’t get anything done in this country?

          • Z.Ward says:

Thanks Lj ! I appreciate your support. What is she the defender of all comments? My first comment on this site after reading every story on here and it attracts the weirdos from the rafters.

            • Max The Cat says:

Don’t let it get to you Z.Ward. I’ve been the editor here for almost a year now, and I have to deal with every nutjob, racist, homophobe, troll, and opinionated snob that comes down the pike. Your comment was just fine – as a matter of fact, I post these animal abuse cases to give everyone a break from the steady diet of child abuse, rape, murder and baby killing stories I usually publish on the site. If you keep commenting like this, you can be sure I’ll be around to defend your right to say what you want to say.

            • Z.Ward says:

              I sure appreciate it Max!

            • AgJu says:

I didn’t really like the wording either…”Well, at least it was cats and not kids!”

But I thought about it and I knew what you were getting at, plus your parting bit about calling him a sick fuck made me think that you had good intentions so I didn’t say anything.

Maybe be just a tad careful about how you word something so it doesn’t get misconstrued? I dunno. But I personally don’t have any ill will. :)

            • LJ says:

Weirdo, nutjob? Guilty as charged I guess. Yeah, I went off my meds that day, it won’t be long until you read a story about me on this site…

            • LJ says:

See, I told you I went off my meds! I thought you were calling me a nutjob! (it is depatable)
Sorry guys. I just need to step away for a day or two. Too many of these stories are making my head spin, stomach twitch. All I have to do is open my morning paper and the gruesome stories run rampant!

        • NavyCop says:

Anna- If you look through the words and into the intent, the wording makes perfect sense. I read that while Z. Ward is sickened by the abuse of the cats, he/she is at the same time relieved to see something OTHER than parents violating their sacred trust and destroying their children’s lives. And I agree with that sentiment. As a parent, it tears my heart out to read about useless morons abusing and killing their children for apparantly no reason.

    8. MB says:

What a worthless sack of shit. He hurts animals and women…what a big freakin’ tough guy….

    9. Rorschach says:

Oh God, I actually had to keep myself from crying when I read this article. The black and white kitten in the the picture (Emo, I think)looks like a kitten who I found abandoned on the side of the road and adopted. He’s been with me for a month now and he is the most affectionate cat I have ever had in my life, always giving my face tongue baths, cuddling and purring.

People like this waste of oxygen make me livid. So fucking livid. Anyone who abuses a helpless being, be it human or animal don’t deserve to live without suffering, physically and mentally, for their crimes. Here’s hoping some of his jailmates are cat lovers.

    10. Corey says:

If this is how he treats cats and women, imagine what he would do to a baby girl that pissed him off. Yes, your past actions are a good indicator of how you will act in the future. Wake up women (and some men too, but its mostly a woman thing) you cannot change him. He is what he is, or she is what she is. I guarantee this sick bastards father or brothers or friends hate cats and he was brought up to be cruel to them. I’ve seen it before. Straight to hell where the demons are cats for this sick prick.

      • Fred says:

I agree – what he did to the cats is an indicator of the fact that he would do harm to a wife or a child.
While he may never actually kill another person, because he may be too much of a whimp, he most likely would have made any child’s life a living hell.
One can love dogs and cats…………..

This evil fuck needs to be neutered so that he can not bring any offspring into his privately run hell.
Also a warning needs to be tatooed near his dick so that any woman who goes down on him will know enough to break up with him.

    11. Rick says:

“Editor’s Notes: So that makes him an abuser of women too – My God, what a cowardly son a bitch!”

How does punching a woman’s laptop make him an abuser of women?

I agree this guy is a piece of shit, but you know… Judge not lest ye be judged.

      • Max The Cat says:

What? Did you miss the part about him harassing and stalking his ex Rick? Ever hear of emotional abuse? Sean Lynde has been terrorizing Rahchel Strate ever since they broke up in January. The computer was broken in March, two months after they stopped seeing each other – I wonder what that was about. And he was \charged with several counts of harassment and stalking in the same indictment as the animal abuse charges.

That’s not judging, that’s calling a spade a spade. So “Shut the fuck up, lest you be called a fool.”…LoL

        • Maelstrom says:

Let’s also not forget that the fact this asshole killed this womans cats IS a form of abuse. It’s terrorism and emotional abuse.

I once dated this guy who knew I adored cats, and when he got pissed at me he would delight in telling me how many dead cats he saw lying in the snow after having died from exposure. Whether or not any of that was actually true I don’t know, but I considered that a form of abuse.

This guy is a prick and deserves every unfortunate event that might happen upon him. I HATE animal abusers, and it really is such a fucking cowardly thing to do. Kind of like beating on a child…only pussies do this.

    14. Cactus says:

I don’t really like cats but even I wouldn’t do that to helpless kittens. What I don’t understand is why he didn’t tell his girlfriend “I don’t want a cat”.

      • ultranothing says:

He couldn’t possibly just “tell” her. He’s an artist, ya know? He’s a very visual sort of guy. He needed her to “see” what he was trying to convey.

It’s probably not far from the truth…

    15. Kenny says:

I will normally vote no when the creep is only killing animals, but this guy has serious anger issues and would likely move onto beating severely and possibly killing later. To Hell with this one.

      • Mazzi says:

Killing animals with reason is one thing. Hunting for sport and eating your kills is fine (although I would never do it), killing animals as population control – again, I am against it, but I understand why it can be considered necessary. Killing / maiming/ torturing animals for “science” makes me want to puke, but I can understand (even if I disagree) with the rationale for it. Lowest ion the scale of ‘acceptable” animal killing would be killing because a pet is a pain in the ass, or something like that. But at least, if someone just puts a bullet in the head with no suffering on the part of the animal, while it is cold-hearted, it’s not necessarily cruel.

But what this guy supposedly did is completely different. His goal was not to kill the animal, but to torture it. The killing was peripheral. Honestly, it’s that torture, rather than the actual killing, that makes me want to send him to hell.

If he did what he is accused of (and unlike some cases, there is strong evidence that he did) then he needs to be punished much more harshly than he will be. AND he needs to be watched forever, because a guy who gets off on torture of small cuddly love-bugs like those kittens is a fucking danger to society.

        • ultranothing says:

Killing an animal…because it’s a “pain in the ass”, huh?

No no, no…that’s perfectly reasonable! Considering it’s on the bottom of the “acceptable animal-killing rationales” totem-pole.

    16. melb1984 says:

I’ve read the stories on this site daily for the past few months and this story made me finally register as a user….it hits pretty close to home. I have two miniature dachshunds, Molly and Peanut. My ex and I had been dating for 11 months when the unthinkable was witnessed by my landlords who lived on the same property. Among several things, they witnessed him winding his arm back, holding the retractable leash with the collar around Molly’s neck, slamming her onto the cobblestones on the porch. I was not present at the time, or I would have slammed HIS ass against the cobblestones. Long story short, when I got home, I found Molly’s arm swollen and sounding like bubble paper…she was bleeding through her nose. I rushed her to the ER vet, and I was told she had a fractured pelvis, broken rib, broken arm in two spots, head trauma, and had to have three teeth removed…luckily, after surgery and TLC, Molly has returned to her happy sweet self. What I found in my house the next day was sickening….there were smears and splatters of blood and feces on the floors, walls, and doors–Molly tried to hide from this bastard in every corner of my house…everywhere. I found blood all over a miniature ironing board that had been tucked under the couch, the little prongs that hold the board up had been flattened and paint chipped from beating it on the floor so hard. Unfortunately, I live in Mississippi, where animal cruelty is only a misdemeanor with a maximum jail sentence of 6 months. I do not understand how this could be a misdemeanor when my house was a gory crime scene. I am working with a group and a legislator to make this a felony crime. It is one of four states left with this slap-on-the-wrist punishment…The Dakotas, Idaho, and of course, last at everything, Mississippi. My ex, by the way, never hurt me in any way. After this incident, within minutes everything clicked…all the unexplainable visits to the vet made sense. The unexplainable way Molly’s toe nail went missing 2 weeks prior. Or why I had to wash her bedding twice in one week for poop stains, when, every time I took her for a walk, her poop was solid. Or why I’d find shit smears in other places that were elevated from the floor. The signs were there. Once, he even said “we should put a camera up during the day while we are at work to see what the dogs do, I bet Peanut and Molly play fight”….. It was like his sick little secret as if to say “stupid bitch, if you only KNEW what I was doing to your dogs when you aren’t here”. Of course, I didn’t for one minute suspect him of hurting my dogs because he acted like he loved them in front of me. They acted like they loved him too. Other times they acted terrified of him. What’s funny is he only did things to Molly. I have had Molly for 5 years, and Peanut I got while we were dating. It was a step child thing. I am just thankful that my dogs are okay, and that he didn’t end up smashing MY head on the cobblestones. My dog made the ultimate sacrifice for me, and I’m so thankful I found out before it was too late for her.

      • The Bosses Secretary says:

        Wow, Melb1984.

I know abusers pretty well and I can say for a fact that either you or your kid was next in line on some fine day when he got drunk or loaded. Some abusers know its wrong to abuse so they do it to someone who can’t cry out when no one’s looking.

      • LJ says:

Holy Shit, what a sick fuck!
I have been rescuing pit bulls for about 11 years now and have had a lot of sad cases but if my husband/boyfriend EVER touched one of my dogs I would go off!
Glad you figured it out for Molly’s sake and the she is safe!

    17. Violet says:

As a shelter volunteer and frequent “foster mom” for shelter cats (as well as having four of my own) this makes me ill. Not only am I disgusted with Lynde, I’m disappointed in Strade. She let the pattern perpetuate too long before she finally stopped deluding herself. The last SEVERAL kittens could have been saved if she hadn’t deluded herself that her precious boyfriend wouldn’t behave that way. I caught an ex of mine tormenting my foster cats by taking away their food. He claims he was “just having some fun”. I threw him out and told him to never come back. Strade should have done the same.

    18. weggis says:

This man is seriously a sick individual…also an idiot. Cat’s demand respect…i have a mother cat with 3 of her kittens and they are the best rat catchers ever to live in my house. They are also affectionate and playfull. Anybody that kills cat’s or tortures them will be cursed forever. LONG LIVE ALL CATS!!!

    19. sam mcatee says:

Any pet that can be trusted to go outside and come back with out being called clearly demands respect .
Dont get me wrong i like dogs but i prefer cats ( that doesnt mean i kill dogs though )
They should give him 10 minutes alone with an amur tiger as his punishment.

    20. Jess says:

We should be careful with people like him because today he abuse the poor kittens, tomorrow maybe it will be a kid or anybody else… He is obviously sick in the brain, but not stupid because why he don’t go & try to hurt another man…nah he abuse & kill a little kitty casue he knows they can’t defend themselves.. Shame on him, I whish the law could be more rough with this sick people so they can think twice before they hurt another innocent animal..

    21. Alfred Thein says:

Most every incident that happened to Molly under his supervision, he had been drinking. Plenty of people get wasted and do not do this to animals…I’m hoping his defense attorney doesn’t pull that card. Also, another thing–he was reaaaally good with kids. My nieces, who are complete daddy’s girls and are usually shy with anyone other than their dad, really liked him. It’s chilling to think what kind of hold he had over them, or what it was about him that drew them to him from day one. The good thing is, out of respect for them being my brothers’ children and rule of thumb, I never left them completely unsupervised with him.

      • Smiley says:

        melb1984….
Wow your story gave me chills and choked me up. When I think of little Molly hiding and shitting in fear throughout the whole place….just makes me cry. I am so glad you figured him out before she was dead. Good thing you didn’t leave him with your nieces!! I was just wondering….did he give you some bullshit excuses, and if so what were they? I was just curious how someone can try to justify doing that to a sweet small dog. Bravo to you for pressing charges, and working to make that a felony!!

    23. ivy says:

How do I put this eloquently… Someone should make that mother fucker drink laundry detergent. And his abused girlfriend should be charged right along side him for her negligence. All those poor cats and kittens didn’t deserve any of the suffering they had to go through. RIP

Somehow I find killing cats to be occasionally worse than killing people (at least adult people), ’cause human beings are liable to come back at you with knives and guns and guided rockets.

Besides, anyone who does this to cats is capable of doing it to people. Our affinity for cats is genetic, and people who hate them are simply defective.

    26. Kathy says:

Incinerate the bastard and all others like him! I’ll light the match!

    28. omar says:

While I will say that I have a severe dislike of cats, I can not comprehend how anyone can torture and kill an innocent animal or person for that matter.

On a side note I am not fond of frogs but I do my duty every morning and inspect the pool and rescue as many as I can, and most of them are perfectly content to wallow in the chlorinated water even though they are soaking in the same water their bloated friend is.

    29. Chinchillazilla says:

As someone with four (!) rescue cats and two rescue dogs, this makes me want to punch him and not stop punching until some bones break, mine or his.

I’m terrified of spiders, but I can’t even kill them and as far as I know they have very unsophisticated pain receptors. Purposefully harming a fellow mammal is just… appalling.

to melb1984, and all animal lovers, i hope molly is doing well, as an animal lover myself i have 2 cats ( a 2&1/2, 7mnth) and a 1 &1/2 yr old dog, all were either found or given due to crappy owners, the oldest was found in box with his sister & brother on the side of the road (due to weather/how long they were) the other tqo didnt make it, i named him dudditz (anyone ever read the book or watch the movie dreamcatcher?) since i was going through a bad time in my life i named him that because to me ‘he saved my life’ not having any kids myself, to me they are. I’ve just spent 2 days in hospital having surgery and when i got home they were there waiting with barks and meows :) which made me smile and the pain ease…not so much now since its taken me 1/2hr just to type this much…any human being or animal that suffers in anyway is a crime and whoever does it deserves to be strung up either by there nuts or tits, anyways i hope this makes sense as i am on medication…lol…smile always jane the animal lover :)

    33. kira says:

seriously…did he have nothing else to do except kill cats….That’s pretty sad…and that woman is a little dumb if she didn’t realize sooner that her cats were dying the very second the man came around. sad

    34. Thinkbolt says:

Is he ACTUALLY guilty? You all have him convicted, and you don’t even know him. Earlier this year, a girl I know cut up another girl’s face with a knife. The victim hated her ex-boyfriend so much, she called the police and told them HE did it. They arrested him, and he had to wait for the investigation to clear him. My point is, when you read abotu stories like this, involving people you don’t know, you have NO IDEA

    35. Thinkbolt says:

      - – continued – -
…you have NO IDEA what’s really going on. The “victims” in these situations are often actually “participants,” and it’s not black-and-white at all. If there’s any truth to this story, it sounds like they’re both crazy as hell.

Oh, and the violence expressed in these responses is very disturbing. How many of you have expressed similar outrage to Dick Cheney?

      • NavyCop says:

And again, we’ll have a verdict at the end of the month. Dick Cheney is not on trial, here. This is not a political forum, so try and keep the politics out. Please and Thank You

    36. 5345 says:

Burn the faggot’s balls off slowly and bash the empty skull in of the faggot’s girlfriend, for being such a dumb fucking piece of shit for continuing to get cats, knowing that cock sucker is killing them. Slaughter them both.

      • NavyCop says:

Thank you for the mind numbing hate speech. Now can you please go back and read the article in full? She did not know until kitty number four that Sean (allegedly, to appease the bleeding hearts) had a penchant for animal abuse

    37. Corset Lass says:

I hate reading these stories about people that abuse animals. I have four dogs, a cat, and two turtles. I love them….I consider them like my kids. I would go hungry before I allowed them to go hungry. People like Sean Lynde are psychopaths waiting to happen and he will eventually move on to killing people. It will not surprise me to see another story about him killing someone on PYSIH one day. He deserves to suffer the way these poor cats and kittens suffered. Fucking bastard psychopath!

    38. Psychoofthesand says:

I agree I think it starts with animals and makes its way to people. He is a heartless bastard. I think we should stone him. I rescued a kitten someone threw in the dumpster. We had him for a long time. His name was lucky. And my best friends dad was driving and saw some guy throw a box out of a car curious he pulled over and in it was a kitten. He took her to the vet and paid out of his pocket. We took care of her the rest of the night but sadly she died from it. How can people do that to animals. We called her violet and made a little bed for her she ate a little. Hopefully we showed her some love and she felt it before she died. I’m sure she knows we still think about her.

    39. christine says:

i had an ex who would always threaten to “kill my fucking cat” when we got in a fight, luckily he never did anything (to the cat)…he tried to choke me(several times)…either way this story makes me sick…i’m sorry but the girlfriend had to have an idea, although denial is very powerful i can concur, i would have kicked the dude out after the second one died…(i know hindsight is 20/20)…

    40. SteveFromChicago says:

First its animals – then he will kill people.
Lock this sick MF for good.

    41. Scott says:

Any sick motherfucker who hurts innocent animals deserves to burn in hell. That’s really all I have to say about it, other than hoping that he gets mauled by a larger animal at some point in his his sick, worthless life. Anyone who hurts animals isn’t to be trusted.

    42. Chelle says:

I think he will definitely be turned out, used up and laughed at in prison. This guy is retarded (at best) to hardened criminals, so that can only predetermine what a “man” he is going to be in prison. :)
Hope he gets his hands and feet broken and chokes on…. you know, maybe cause a little brain damage due to suffocation? Human abuse in the prison system at it’s best! Retribution can be a beautiful thing.

    43. pollywog says:

Cat’s are worthless animals. They have no souls, therefore, it’s not a sin to kill them.

      • Jason says:

Tell that to the 100 million people killed by the black plague shortly after a massive and pervasive effort to kill cats as agents of the devil helped to balloon a population of rats that could carry a very specific and very dangerous flea–a flea that incidentally could not live long on cats.

Tell that to the woman in Texas who had her life and the lives of her family members saved when her cat detected the carbon monoxide killing everyone in her house, and proceeded to wake everyone she could up.

To animals not having souls, the Catholic church conferred Sainthood on a dog named St Guinefort, until the inquisition burned the shrine, disinterred the dog and cast the dog and his following out as a heretic. Your statement of a cat having no soul, extends from the efforts of inquisitors in the British isles attempting to stamp out various heresies associated with Celtic and Welsh dog worship in an effort to reserve the right to a soul to man. The Bible doesn’t actually support this concept since the concept of a soul is a derived artifact extending from Greek and Egyptian mythologies of a perpetual afterlife. The Jews believed in a whole resurection as a part of Abraham’s heart until the covenant could be fulfilled by God. They absorbed the concept of a soul and wrote of the Guf of souls from the Babylonian captivity and the Egyptian enslavement. Given that possession was deemed by the Catholic church as an extension of a Demon’s craving for a soul, when Christ placed demon(s) successfully into the vessel of a herd of pigs, some semblance of a soul vessel was present in the unclean animals of pigs. Given only Agustine and inquisitorial postings, some of which claim the Earth is flat, I think it safe to say that until word on high arrives, I can feel comfortable in considering an afterlife for faithful pets, feline and otherwise, as I currently find an afterlife without them to be a darker and dimmer place.

      • Max The Cat says:

Watch it bub, I resemble that remark. Good thing I know you have a good heart from some of your other comments, or I’d send a couple of my bros over to spray you.

        LOL

      • VCBecky says:

Anything that feels love has what we refer to as a soul. That’s how I see it anyway. Everyone’s concept of ‘soul’ is different, though some don’t believe in a soul. I do. Funny coming from an athiest, but I do. I won’t go into my beliefs here, but just because I’m not religious and don’t believe in an all-power doesn’t mean I’m not spiritual.

My cat Skeletor has a soul. Before I sit down at my desk at home, he jumps into my chair, scuffs around and tosses away any small bits of paper that might be there. Then he lets me sit. He knows my moods and reacts to them. He sits near me without touching me when I’m working, and just purrs while staring at me. He cries when I leave. My cat loves me. How can he love me if he has no soul?

BTW, I didn’t name him. My husband did. It was too fantastic a name to deny! We call him ‘Skelly’ for short, of course! The neighbors find it damn funny if we have to shout at him, like “SKELETOR! Get down from there!” in an angry voice. Or if we’re looking for him, “Skeletoooooooorrrrr…. Skeletooooooorrrr….” echoing thru the neighborhood. Hehe.

So yah. Cats have souls. Some people, however, don’t appear to.

        • Jason says:

Now I am tormented by the idea of an alabaster tabby wearing a blue hood and tights, desperately seeking the power of Greyskull….

          Does this date me much?

          • VCBecky says:

Yes it does. Me too, *sigh*

I miss those old cartoons. Especially the ones before that period. Tom and Jerry? Buggs Bunny? Popeye? Marvin the Martian!!!!! There was some REAL cartoon violence! Wile E. Coyote, Super Genius… /anvil… Ahhhh, those were the days.

    44. NY Cop says:

If this case sounds suspicious, it’s because it is. Don’t be surprised if you see headlines about the girlfriend soon…

I have to say that, as a police officer, I’m a bit sickened about how easy it is for a woman to make crazy accusations that wreak havoc on the life of an innocent man.

Stay tuned for the finale on this one!

    45. sof says:

I read this story with my kitten sleeping on the couch next to me. I had to give him a little cuddle afterward. I can’t imagine anyone wanting to hurt a pet, let alone a helpless little kitten.

    46. Mike says:

Dear Sean Lynde / NY Cop…

It’s laughable that you’d impersonate a NY police officer. And I find it hilarious that you’re STILL trying to deflect this to anyone but yourself or at least maybe you know…explain your actions or present some evidence.

The only thing I’ll be surprised about is you don’t see some serious prison time for your alleged crimes.

And the only thing that sickens me is that you can’t take responsibility for your own actions. Seriously dude….is that your best excuse?

It’s suspicious because it is? Your logic lost me at “it’s.”

Instead of deflecting Sean…you should stand up and take responsibility for what you’re accused of (or at least present some evidence besides “it’s suspicious because it is”).

      Good luck with that one!!

      :-)

      • Missy says:

Bo i know exactly what you mean about knowing what your pet wants by their eyes. You learn to know your pet and how they react or act about something. My dogs are my pride and joy, i love them dearly and are the sweetest things on earth! I could never imagine hurting any living thing especially something so innocent and pure. I adopted (adult) pit bulls from our local shelter and i couldn’t speak highly enough about my babies and the mere thought of the abuse that pits endure on a daily basis makes me ill! My wish one day is to create a hand help zapper that we can just zap away all of the disgusting pieces of shit like the people on this site. I personally will hand out one “piece of shit zapper” to everyone on this site!!! lol

i gave chopper some turkey for thanksgiveing, and he loved it,lol.now he looks at cat food like{i have to that shit}.lol. and as for pitbulls,no animal dog or cat is born mean, they have to be taught that.i live in austin tx and we love our animals and our kids, and as a proud supporter of b.a.c.a.{bikers against child abuse},i try to look out for animal babies and human babies.

I have a permanent link to a site of a litle kitty playing with its owner and it’s just sooooooooo cute, my house has pictures not so much of family, but of my friends and my pets as they are my life, in saying that if anyone or anything hurt one of them, trust me when I say my name would be on here as a pysih.

    50. Daine says:

I have to admit it does kind of warm my heart to know that this website doesn’t consider animal cruelty unworthy of the title “murder”. One of the most traumatic experiences of my life involved watching my brother drown a kitten in a bathtub; may both of them burn.

I SAY DO UNTO OTHERS AS U WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO U SO LET’S BAND TOGETHER & THROW HIM IN THE TIGERS PIT AT THE ZOO & LETS SEE IF HE CAN DO WHAT HE DID 2 THOSE KITTENS 2 THOSE TIGERS =0]

    52. Lyndepleadsguilty says:

so now we know….Sean Lynde confesses his guilt to killing (died from a broken neck) Bonafide….a friendly, 8 week old kitten. HOW DARE HE? “if this case sounds suspicious……” RIGHT…. just another example of the depth of, IMO, sean lynde’s psychopathy…no guilt, no remorse, no conscience. btw, although im not a religous person, the apt. building where lynde committed this (these) crime(s) was on property owned and leased from st. john’s cathedral on the uws. he did this quite literally, in God’s backyard. imo, even a sicko like lynde had choices and this was the choice he made SIX times even though he only confessed to once. hopefully, upon his death, there’s a special place in hell waiting for this guy. a place were the meanest and cruelest of evil will prey on and torture him for all of eternity. it’s obviously not my mortal condemnation that counts or matters, but i can promise you this…God saw what he did and these innocent, trusting senior cats and four kittens were born into this world, not as sacrifices for sean lynde, but as sentient creatures whom God loved as much as you and i. the only exception in this whole equation of love and trust is sean lynde, by his own design and again, God saw what he chose to do to satisfy his own cruel desires.

    53. Cant believe it says:

I have known Sean since 1995. I went to college with him. I even lived with him for a year. I have met his family etc. All I can say is this. Sean was the most happy go lucky person I have ever met. I never once saw him get anrgy or hurt anything or anyone. We toured with Phish for a year and I would say, fit the description of your typical wannabe hippies. I simply can not bring myself to believe that he has done this. I have lost touch with him since he moved to NY. Drugs are the only thing I can think of that would allow him to commit such an awful crime. I can’t express to you enough how nice this kid used to be, and I could get a hundred people to back me up. A mutual freind has recently told me that he is going to meet up with Sean soon. I am anxious to hear his side of the story. In my opinion, if this story is true, and you killed those kittens. I want you to know that you have disgraced many people, including myself and I doubt that we will ever forgive you. you are a sick man and you need to be locked up forever. I am sorry that I ever met you. Die a slow, lonely and painful death you worthless piece of shit.

      • NavyCop says:

It’s always the ones you least suspect…

      • lyndeadmitstokillingkit says:

drugs? nope. i can assure you that no drug motivated sean lynde to methodically torture and kill any of these pets while alone with them ON SIX SEPARATE OCCASSIONS and then on the day of their deaths, again alone with his victim, run all over town with each pet individually, dead, making sure to use different vet practices in order to try to conceal the pattern of his abuse and torture. no drug would make sean lynde conspire to kill these animals and go to great lengths to concoct absurd reasons for their deaths. no drug would have sean lynde, personally, having more interest in explaining the actual, physical death of the animal (his victim) than the circumstances which could possibly have led to it. sean lynde is sneaky, an imposter. NO DRUG WOULD MAKE ANYONE CONFESS TO A FELONY COUNT OF AGGRAVATED (which encompasses torture) ANIMAL CRUELTY OF AN 8 WEEK OLD KITTEN WHOSE DEATH RESULTED FROM AN EVIDENCED, NON-ACCIDENTAL BROKEN NECK IF THEY WERE INNOCENT!!!!!!! sean lynde can try to blame whoever he wants to but EVIDENCE is what got him indicted, EVIDENCE is what got him arrested and EVIDENCE is why he confessed and grabbed the plea bargain. sean lynde KNEW the prosecution would win because of the EVIDENCE. no drug made sean lynde what he is, sean lynde made the choices which got him arrested because of what he is. btw, a hundred people? sean lynde has done his best to fool everybody, thats what sociopaths do, its their whole m.o. i’d be very anxious to hear his (twisted) side of the story too. just dont expect it to be the truth.
