HARNETT WOMAN INDICTED IN TODDLER’S DEATH
09/24/2009–Nearly two years after the remains of an 11-month-old girl were found in the attic of a Spring Lake home, a Harnett County grand jury has indicted the child’s mother in her death.
Johni Michelle Heuser, 27, of 1680 Ray Road, was indicted this week on a charge of first-degree murder in the death of Harmony Jade Creech.
Deputies found the toddler’s remains in her mother’s attic on Oct. 20, 2007. The indictment states the child was killed between Aug. 31, 2007, and Sept. 30, 2007.
The child had been wrapped in a plastic bag and stuffed in an empty diaper box in a corner of the attic, authorities said. The body was so badly decomposed that medical examiners have never been able to determine a cause of death.
When the child’s father, Sgt. Ronald Creech II, a member of the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, returned from a 15-month deployment in Iraq, Heuser claimed the baby had been abducted, prompting a statewide Amber Alert.
She later told investigators that she found the baby dead in her crib weeks earlier and hid the death out of fear.
I really had no idea how depraved this woman was until I started reading some of the back articles on this case. I guess this next story really showed me that Johni Michelle Heuser isn’t just a woman who snapped and hurt her baby. I suspect there was alot more going on than that the day Harmony Jade Creech lost her life. Read on and decide for yourselves.
911 CALL, NEW DETAILS EMERGE IN SPRING LAKE BABY’S DEATH

10/22/2007–A seemingly distraught Johni Michelle Heuser can be heard crying while her mother talked with an emergency dispatcher Friday morning to report that Heuser’s baby daughter, Harmony Jade Creech, was missing.
During the 911 call, Heuser wailed, sobbed and retched as she clung to the child’s father, Sgt. Ronald Creech II, who expected a joyous reunion with his daughter after a 15-month deployment in Iraq.
But Heuser’s wails and sobs were an act, Creech and law officers say.
The baby’s decomposing remains and clothing were found in a diaper box in the attic of the Harnett County home where the 911 call was made. Investigators say they think the baby had been dead for several weeks, and neighbors had complained since this summer of a foul odor coming from the red-brick home on Ray Road in Spring Lake.
Heuser, 25, has been charged with first-degree murder.
Creech, a native of Alabama, had just arrived at the home he rented for Heuser before he was deployed. He had not seen his child since November, when he spent 15 days with her during a mid-tour leave, said Maj. Tom Earnhardt, a spokesman with the 82nd Airborne Division, on Tuesday.
Earnhardt released a statement from Creech that said Heuser had convinced him and others that Harmony was alive.
“Harmony’s mother was good at deceiving everyone who would ask about Harmony and where she was,” Creech said in the statement. “The stories were credible, and everyone believed her. My goal for the last year was to complete my mission and return home to my children. I have returned home to a tragedy I would not wish upon any parent of any child.”
The Harnett County Sheriff’s Office released a recording of the emergency call that Heuser’s mother, Brenda Irizarry, made to report Harmony was missing from her crib.
Heuser sobbed quietly at first and tried to quiet her other three children. Irizarry calmly explained to the 911 dispatcher that the child’s father had just returned home from Iraq and wanted to see his child. Irizarry said that the window in Harmony’s room was open and that she was gone, along with her diaper bag and clothing.
Heuser’s quiet sobs dissolved into wailing when her mother asked her what the child was wearing. Pink pajamas with the words “Daddy’s Girl” across the front, Heuser answered in a high, quavering voice.
Heuser told her mother to tell the dispatcher she saw her daughter at 11:30 p.m. the night before.
“It was right after you left when I fed her,” Heuser said to her mother between sobs. Local and federal authorities had doubts about Heuser’s story from the start of their investigation. Harnett Sheriff’s Maj. Gary McNeill said Tuesday that Heuser had flunked a certified voice stress test administered by the sheriff’s office and a polygraph test by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
“The statements she was making to us indicated she was deceptive,” said McNeill, who added that the investigation continues.

One of the theories being kicked around by police is the Heuser was obsessed with an online video game, in this case “Final Fantasy 11″. How that connects to Harmony’s murder I couldn’t say, but I just found this album an interesting coincidence.

Oh boy. Reading that made me feel like I’d been kicked in the stomach. I think that would have been worse than the time I went to a cemetery to visit someone’s grave and had to leave because I smelled that same “foul odor” coming from a crypt.

I feel so heartbroken for both baby Harmony and her daddy Sgt. Ronald Creech II. Harmony’s pictures are absolutely adorable and I hate to think what this POS mother could have possibly done to her.
And then on top of that, Ronald spent 15 months honorably serving in the Military only to come home and discover his daughter has been murdered by the POS mother. What a fucked up thing!!!

I was wondering the same thing diana, my mom would notice for sure if she was at my house and didn’t see one of my children running around. On the 911 call, the mom sounds indifferent, like she doesn’t really care that the child is missing. If that was my child my mom would have been frantic and a complete basket case.

I agree, I may have had a short fuse when it came to potty training and mouthing off to Mommy, but when my girl was 11 months old, she was nothing but joy and love (oh Lord, NC is being a softy) and a wonder to behold. well if it was some sort of tragic accident, she buried herself by not calling for help. she murdered that baby by not getting help… I play games, but I also take care of my children. Putting ANYTHING before your kids is immoral, and shouldn’t be done as much as it is. Honestly, this story stands out to me in a way that the other entries on this site do not. There are strong red flags here, at least in my eyes, that we are jumping to judgmental conclusions.

Nothing suggests to me that this isn’t exactly what happened. So yes, that would make this woman a terribly irresponsible parent, and a complete idiot. She’s responsible for a child’s death, should be held accountable for that, and by no means should be raising other children. But does she belong on this site alongside people who have deliberately planned and executed cold-blooded murder? I wouldn’t say so, not without stronger evidence that what’s being presented here.
Granted, I’d like a cause of death, but after being exposed to dozens and dozens of cases like this of the last few years, I’ve learned to recognize the signs of someone who’s just a frightened, troubled woman who made a mistake, and a woman who is being deceptive because she’s guilty of something more than bad decision making. I’m with the cops on this one. Reread the second article Rick, and listen to the 911 call afterwards. It might put a different perspective on Johni Michelle Heuser’s behavior the day Harmony Creech “disappeared”.

Women who murder their children aren’t all stupid. Some know that SIDS is a very difficult diagnosis to make..sometimes impossible, and some women can rightly assume that their dead children won’t be found for weeks, perhaps months thereby making cause of death impossible to determine.
So this murdering bitch didn’t blame the bath-tub, or the sofa…common “culprits” when one’s child suddenly ends up missing and is later found dead. Nope, she simply said the child was dead in her crib, leading some to assume that SIDS was the cause of death.
I think the murder of this darling little girl was premeditated, and for the life of me can not understand why you wouldn’t call 911 immediately if you found your child dead in their crib. But then again, I’m not a child-murdering bitch.
This cunt is no better than the Tracey Herman’s of the world, and should be treated as such….though in this one I hope for a prison sentence longer than 50 years.
If I was a mother and my baby died for any reason, my first coherent thought would be to call 911. I wouldn’t think “What if they think I did it? I’m scared!” and then hide the body. This woman, guilty or not, thought only of protecting herself. An innocent mother would have had a different reaction.
Mothers are closer to their instincts than most of the rest of us. A mothers instinct is to protect her child even at risk of her own life, and without any forethought in most cases.
Heck, look at it this way – I’m no ones mom and never will be, but I would risk my life to save anyones baby without any forethought ie. “Oooo, Godzilla is about to step on that baby! Imma grab the kid and run!” It really is an instinct every sane person has. Protecting the children is protecting the future of mankind. We are all wired to want that. At least, those of us who are sane are wired to want that.
Sick case all I can say. This reminds me of the Casey Anthony case.

Just thinking out loud, I am leaning towards long term neglect by the bitch-child starved, died from untreated medical condition, or abject stupidity-she didn’t want to be bothered in the middle of her video game role play so she drugged the kid with cough syrup and overdid it and killed the child. I don’t see premeditation as she had a large block of time to rid herself of the body or come up with some more plausible reason for the child’s disappearance-the kidnapping excuse, someone car jacked my car with the baby inside excuse and so forth…so I think she killed the child with sheer stupidity, neglect, ignorance and evil and didn’t give a damn when she killed the kid but was too stupid to premeditate a murder method. Either way, the end result is a poor baby that is dead and thrown in a box like a sack of trash. Does she deserve hell? Yes and a whole lot worse…
I agree with you – she did not outright kill the child, and given the fact that she “got nervous” her selfish acts were not against Harmony, but rather so selfish that Harmony’s welfare was not a factor.
Given that she’s 27 (Johnni), makes it worst, I could see a 17 year old being selfish that way….
Still for the most part an 11-month old can survive with minimal care – a bottle check and diaper check every hour will keep a baby at that age alive and in decent condition for quite some time!
If the lazy bitch could not do that then she needs to be spayed just incase she in never executed!

I don’t believe the “I found her dead and I panicked so I stuffed her away and lied about her being dead” story. I have an extremely guilt-plagued mindset. I can’t walk into a store looking for a specific item, discover it unavailable and then leave. I have to purchase something or I feel like people will think I’m stealing. People can’t look at me without me thinking they think there is something wrong with me. It’s a real pain in the ass. BUT, when my child died, I did not for a MOMENT think that people would think I did something. All I could think about was the grief, the loss, the hurt – doing what was right by my child, which was to honour his short existance with a proper burial. I just don’t believe it, I don’t.

What did she tell the other three children about the baby’s disappearance, and how come the kids didn’t say anything about it to their grandma or someone else? How could grandma have not missed Harmony during that two month period?

Didn’t I read that Sgt. Creech said that this POS was very good at giving ‘rational’ excuses on why the baby wasn’t available whenever someone inquired? I could see that keeping people at bay. After all, who would ever believe that a mother has murdered her child? There wouldn’t be any reason to question this POS’s explanations.
There is no possible way that her sorry explanation of being afraid is legit. She would only have fear if she did something to cause the child’s death.

I would love to break her already busted nose. How do you have a child by a man you “love” who leaves on a call of duty, just to kill the child by either neglect or your own hands? I always get a kick out of reading the MySpace pages of infanticidal mothers featured on PYSIH.
Invariably, these pages are plastered with cheesy animated GIFs that mimic the sort of bumper stickers used only by incredibly tacky people.
The comments they post under the pictures in their photo galleries are often written in “gangsta speak” or some other incredibly ignorant manner that I can only describe as eyeroll-inducing.
If you’ve checked out the Heuser woman’s MySpace page, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about.
On the other hand, it’s probably a good thing that these women turn out to be ignorant and not terribly bright. While killing your own child is a heinous crime regardless of the circumstances, I find it far more disturbing when an intelligent, sophisticated, well educated parent commits a crime of this nature.
I just learned about this site and I would like to write some thing.
Supposedly the grand mother had been sick,most time in bed.The step grand dad was off on a big rig. Joni lost Rons’ truck keys and so would call the grandparents to run chores for her.When they did go to the house,Joni would meet her /him at the door or gate & say the baby was asleep.The other little ones were told that the baby was at a friends or grandmas house.[depending who was asking]
While Ron ii was gone,she had access to his money.When he came home,things had not been paid.–utilities,truck payment,truck insurance,etc.
Even the locks on the other children’s bedroom doors were turned to the outside of the door.
Our beef now is this: We still do not have the Baby’s remains to give her a decent burial.We plan to bury her in Alabama in our family plot,beside a cousin of hers.
A judge has issued a court order to hold her until after court.
She has been to Chapel Hill at least twice–to Texas–to Canada.Nicotine in the body is all they can find .
If anyone has any “pull” with your congressmen,will you try to get them to pressure the judge to rescind that court order and release her remains to us?
Ron is out of the Military now and I suspect that he will have to have her shipped her,as the Army would have done it if she had been released back then.
We have contacted our new Rep.,Bobby Bright,and they have promised to “help that boy”[Ron.]This was told to me–then
Ron went the next day to Montgomery ,also talked to them and signed papers for them.Hopefully Mr Bright can contact the Congressmen from N.C.and get them working on it.
I hope Ron gets the help he needs and I hope he is doing OK after all that he has gone through with the death of the baby

I was locked up with this woman and by no means is she innocent…she can put on a pretty good act for anyone..me becoming a mother myself the first thing i would have did when i fount my baby dead or anything i would have dial 911…thats why its there in case of a emergency! The thought of walking to my window in my cell everyday and seeing her across the room with a smile on her face made me sick…I spoke my peace and told her what I thought of her!She does not deserve the right to be called a mother.
Wow – this is heart breaking story. They say that there’s nothing like the smell of human flesh…. it’s just so tragic that these types of people are allowed to breed in the first place….
