UPDATE: Randy P. Aaser
Hi there readers. As you can see, this is a different kind of update than you’re used to here at PYSIH. Usually, an update is just an article an portion of an article from an online newspaper, followed by commentary by yours truly (for what it’s worth).
But this time I thought I’d handle things differently. Many updates are inspired by comments from supporters of on of our featured members, protesting one of our stories on their friend or family member and claiming their innocence. That forces me to dig into their friend or family members case.
That’s exactly what happened here, only I had to do quite a bit of research in Randy P. Aaser’s case. Not because it was difficult to find, but because there was so much of it, all pointing directly at his guilt.
Now before we continue, I should refresh people’s memories on what Randy P. Aaser actually did. According to the Criminal Complaint, after a night of partying to celebrate his wife Meg Lundeen’s birthday, Randy slashed her throat during an argument over Meg smoking a cigarette. The crime happened during the early morning hours of June 13th, 2007, in the Minneapolis, MN suburb of Brooklyn Center. This video will provide all the details for you:

From what I’ve found out, he admitted he did it. According to the official Criminal Complaint against him, Aaser called a friend around 3 a.m. and said Lundeen had pulled a knife on him. he said he grabbed and then cut her neck. He said he was sorry, the complaint said. Police arrested him around 3:20 a.m. Police found a bloody 8-inch knife in the couple’s kitchen.
BTW Carrie, have you seen you seen Randy lately? I have.

The victim certinly does not deserve to rot in hell and I think anyone who could say that can go there just as a karma ‘come-up-in’s’
Thanks Doc – I see that you were bothered by the same thing I was. That was why I went to the lengths I went to to show how guilty Aaser was. When I found his file on the Minnesota Correctional System database, I knew I had her.
It’s always a mistake to trash the victim on this site. Sometimes, it’s a really BIG mistake.
Last I heard, it wasn’t illegal to use tobacco. Commerce might be the reason for that, but that’s not important. That excuse is as stupid as claiming that your sweetie ate too many twinkies and was fat, so you assaulted them for that.

Janey, that was my thought when I first saw his name. I actually even read his last name as Ass, when I first saw it. Don’t know why, maybe it was just a feeling I had with him being on PYSIH. I agree with Max, you had it right the first time.

Just wanted to say a thank you to Max for your response to Carrie. Nothing, and I mean nothing makes my blood boil than when the victim is blamed for what happened to them.

Not only did this silly bitch have no idea what she was talking about, but she accused Meg Lundeen of self-mutilation, insanity and perjury without anything at all to back it up. Obviously, when the perpetrator – in this case Randy Aaser – confessed that HE cut Miss Lundeen’s throat, well, I guess it’s time for Carrie the Loudmouth to have a big “L” for loser tattooed on her forehead.

The thing is Mulch, when these clowns come and claim their loved one was unjustly accused, in spite of plenty of evidence to the contrary – enough, in fact, to convince 12 jurors in most cases – it’s not just a difference of opinion anymore.
What bothers me the most is their complete disregard for the feelings of the victims (if they survived) and the victim’s family. They vow to keep fighting for their loved one’s freedom. Many times they choose to call the victim a liar, or a nutjob. In murder cases, it’s common for family members of the perp to trash the dead victims reputation, like that somehow lessens their loved one’s responsibility.
If I say I run this web site for the sake of the victims, so the things that were done to them will not be forgotten, so that THEY will not be forgotten, then it also means I have to be ready to defend their honor when it becomes necessary. I don’t mind at all.

Yeah, the accusations seem to pretty ingrained in this lot. I don’t know if its the Jack Nicholson circa Col. Jessup or Steve Martin as Jonas Nightengale but there seem to be a whole lot of people who seem to become biblical scholars the moment their loved one ends up “balls deep in a platypus,” as has so eloquently been stated.

I’m fairly new to this site, and I’m just curious if any of these supporters ever gave you facts that mitigated (at least in part) of the perpetrators. Or do they all only give you unsupported and/or irrelevant facts?
Unsupported, irrelevant, and in a few cases, completely fabricated. We just caught one guy over in the Daniel Catarino Reyes making up several lies to support his “argument”, if you can even call it that.
It’s not that I don’t want people with contrary opinions to post here Heterosis – if a person is respectful and and has a good point, I enjoy debating with them. Sadly, 95 percent of the time all we get is the kind of thing you saw in this update.
Yup, what Max said. Once we get over our disgust (notice I didn’t use the word ’surprise’), all we can really do is bat them back and forth until their heads fall off… um, I’ve apparently been spending too much time with my cat.
To be fair, there have been one or two times I read a comment on PYSIH where a person actually had their head screwed on straight and condemned, or at least were ashamed of, a criminal relative or friend. They come here to grieve just like the rest of us, sometimes much more deeply and with more eloquence than we can manage ourselves. They are also victims of these criminals.
Finding out a relative or friend of 14 years is an Aaser is almost as traumatic as having that person die. It seems most people aim their grief at those of us who are expressing our disgust and use us as therapeutic punching bags. Most of the time they don’t even realize it.
I think we express our own disgust in a pretty harmless way. I mean, there are those of us who would set aside two weeks vacation to come out and terminate some of these skinbags with our bare hands. None of us have done that, so far anyway. Mostly because we know how to keep a thought from becoming a reality unlike the skinbags.
Words hurt. In most cases on this blog, I don’t care.
I comment occasionally Max on this website when I really feel that I have something to say that is relevent or necessary. This last paragraph made me laugh out loud that my usually quiet husband came to see what I was reading. He read it and smiled which is a lot coming from him. Thanks, for bring a smile to his face on something we do not have in common. I am crime (almost in my first year of Law school and he is finance.) It was a meeting of the minds over a “Now shit the fuck up.”

And Carrie: By no means do I condone bashing someone over the internet, alas, i’d say it’s safe to say that you’re ignorance baffle’s us all. \: Granted yes, you allegedly being close to the couple you have an insight that none of us have. But, next time you decide to make wild accusations, that even people following the case, can disprove i’d think it wise to simply not say anything.

People like Carrie (IMO) are the motivating factors behind why people do these things. They enable them by turning a blind eye. Brutal crimes seldom pop up out of nowhere, usually there is some history chalked full of red flags but the people closest to them choose to ignore and take up the ‘My brother/sister/son/daughter/friend/whateverthecasemaybe couldn’t have done that. He/she/it is a good person” type attitude.
I’m a fairly easy going parent but I can tell you with 100% certainty that when my kids fuck up I put them right back in line. That’s whats missing in most cases like this…the 1 (or more) people who should care enough to beat their ass back back to reality and show them whats right and wrong. These people seem to have no one to guide them, though attempted murder should be kind of obvious in the right and wrong scale even for the most mentally challenged of us.
It’s kind of like a cat I used to own. My ex disliked cats and would scare the cat every time he saw him, after about 3 years of continually having the crap scared out of him (not in mean ways..the usual sneak up behind him and scare him type stuff) the cat decided it was payback time. I would get up early with the kids and the cat would be waiting at the door to go outside..ex would get up to find the cat had ripped out the inside of his shoes and pissed on everything he could find of my ex’s..night would come and I’d let the cat back in to repeat the cycle again the next day. Long story short I enabled my cat to piss on my ex’s shit (subsequently we broke up about 6 months later..although it had more to do with the fact he cheated on me while I was 8+ months pregnant with his kid then it did with the cat pissing on his stuff).
My point? Your environment has a lot to do with how you turn out. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m a big believer that you are what you make of yourself and that you should learn from the mistakes those closest to you make to better yourself, but in most cases it’s just easier to repeat the cycle then it is to break it..and we all know it’s human nature to take the easy way out.

I wanted to add that friends and family of the suspect are usually dealing with a heavy case of denial. I understand that they don’t want to believe their loved one could hurt another in such a manner… but to attack the victim in that way (especially after a confession and a guilty plea!!!) is uncalled for… and that is putting it as nicely as I can.
You just want to shake some sense into them, you know?
