If a family member/friend/defender has a legitimate argument and facts to back up their argument, then they deserve to have their argument heard. You have always maintained that you are more than willing to hear these people out, but you ask that they have legitimate facts and proof to support their claims. In this case, Carrie's argument has no merit because she provides no factual information - all she has provided is her personal opinion of the situation that occured. We do not know this individual or the people involved, therefore we want to see facts and evidence. The claim that Carrie made of, "I know Randy personally. I’ve known him for 14 years. When we first heard what happened we thought the psycho bitch did it to herself! She is THAT crazy! I hope SHE rots in hell! This is NOT the whole story." is nothing more than her personal assessment of the situation. If these people can provide real information, then they deserve to be heard. But their personal claims are not definitve proof to lessen a perpetrator's culpability in the crime they are accused of committing. I have also thought it was comical that you have always told these people that you are willing to hear their side of the story as long as they provide factual information, but the majority never respond back because they know that their claims have no merit. I understand that they don't want to believe their loved one could hurt another in such a manner... but to attack the victim in that way (especially after a confession and a guilty plea!!!) is uncalled for... and that is putting it as nicely as I can.
