HARRIS SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Sioux City man convicted of killing his two step-daughters will spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole.
In fact, a judge sentenced Lawrence Douglas Harris, Senior, to two consecutive life sentences for strangling and stabbing Alysha and Kendra Suing last January.
Before the sentencing only one witness was called to the stand to read their victim impact statement.
It was Alysha and Kendra Suing’s mother.
It’s the first time Marla Stroman took the stand in this case.
As Marla Stroman walks to the stand she says writing her victim impact statement was a difficult one.
“I cry almost daily, and I know my life will never be the same without my daughters.”
As she talks about on how life’s been without her 10-year-old daughter, Kendra and 8-year-old daughter, Alysha Suing, she says she’s not the only one that’s been affected. So has her son, Triton. He was the one that Lawrence Douglas Harris, Senior was casting a spell on the day of the murders.
Triton is now in therapy.
“He blames himself saying that if he was home that he could have stopped Larry,” said Stroman.
Stroman says she’s torn about the fact that her ex-husband is going to jail for the rest of his life.
“I know by sentencing Larry to prison for the rest of his life, will not bring Kendra and Alysha back. However, it does give us some peace knowing he cannot, and will not, be able to hurt any one every again,” said Stroman.
She says the pain of losing her only two daughters hasn’t gone away.
“He told me two weeks prior that he could hurt me in the worst possible way without even touching me and he did exactly that,” said Stroman.
The last thing Marla Stroman said on the stand was something directed at Larry Harris, Senior.
She said she hopes, through all of this, that Harris “finds God.”
That’s because she says she has.
Before the judge sentenced Lawrence Douglas Harris, his defense attorney once again asked for a new trial.
Mike Williams said the jury didn’t evaluate his client’s insanity plea during deliberation.
JURY FINDS HARRIS GUILTY

After only about an hour and a half of deliberation Thursday, the Jury found Lawrence Douglas Harris guilty on two counts of first-degree murder.
The story of Kendra and Alysha Suing, two bright young girls who loved to read, came to an end Thursday.
“It’s like the last chapter of the book the way you hope it would end,” said Salina Stroman. Salina is the victims’ cousin and paid close attention to the trial.
“Justice has been served,” said Marla Stroman, Kendra and Alysha’s mother. Those words were said over and over as family and friends gathered after Harris went into custody once and for all. “The jury, I am so thankful for that they came to the conclusion I’ve been hoping for since day one,” cried Marla.
After lengthy closing statements Thursday morning, the jury did not accept Lawrence Douglas Harris’ claim of insanity. That’s something Harris’ siblings expected all along. “We’ve been saying it since we were kids,” said Harris’ sister. His brother explained, “He used to get into my mom’s old nursing books and learned how to fake seizures.”
Tears flowed freely as family took comfort in the verdict. “He used to wear a shirt all the time that said, I’m no longer a threat to society, and I wish I could give it to him cause now he is not a threat to society any longer,” said Marla, smiling through tears.
Thursday’s guilty verdicts read as the last chapter in two bright young lives, cut far too short.
It’s been a while since there’s been any news about this especially disgusting POS, so I decided to do a little research of his fate. The good news is Larry the loser was convicted of the murders of Kendra Suing, 10, and Alysha Suing, 8 and sentenced to two consecutive life sentences. What I found really disturbing was the documents presented at trial that showed that Lawrence Douglas Harris Sr. committed these murders for one of the oldest and simplest of reasons – revenge. Lawrence Douglas Harris was angry with his estranged wife, Marla Harris Stroman, and according to her, threatened to hurt her in the worst way possible:
“He told me two weeks prior that he could hurt me in the worst possible way without even touching me and he did exactly that.”
There was a lot made of the Satanic or black magic angle of this case. Lawrence Douglas Harris told police the children died as a result of a spell that went terribly wrong (to read a transcript of Harris’ interview with Sioux City police, click here). The police also found several items associates with the Church of Satan and witchcraft.
It became obvious during the trial that that was all part of Larry’s plan to play the mental illness card. The defense placed a lot of emphasis on Lawrence Douglas Harris’ interest in devil worship and his belief in black magic in a desperate attempt to bamboozle the jury into believing he wasn’t responsible for his actions. That attempt was a utter and complete failure, as it took those jurors less than two hours to come back with their verdict; guilty of Murder in the First Degree of 8-year-old Alysha Suing; guilty of Murder in the First Degree of 10-year-old Kendra Suing.
He was sentenced to two consecutive Life sentences. In Iowa, Life means Life. There is no such thing as parole. One newspaper, The Sioux City Journal, actually figured out the likelihood of Lawrence Douglas Harris Sr. dying in prison, and came up with 98.4 percent. I guess that means their a 1.6 percent chance that he could escape, or be pardoned, or be abducted by aliens – I’m not exactly sure.

This mother sounds like a real piece of work. How could ANY woman worth her salt as a mother bring a convicted sex offender into her house with children?!?! Justice has defiantly NOT been served, this excuse for a human needs to feel the pain he put those two young girls through, not to mention the family that now needs to live on with out their daughters and sisters. I have said it time and time again; we are far too lenient on criminals in this country, if any solace could be gained from this is that this child murderer will live in a constant state of fear and hopefully a good amount of pain from his fellow prisoners.
I find it interesting that Marla Stroman got remarried on Dec. 18. Hope she did a better job picking a husband this time.

Hey Jessica and everyone else, if you all actually knew Marla you would know that she does miss her daughters, and she thinks of them everyday. Ya she married a loser the last time she got married but why is everyone down on her for TRYING to move on with her life, is she suppose to be unhappy the rest of her life because a worthless piece of crap decided to take the only thing that she lived for away from her?
I happen to have known Marla and her kids for along time and I know the pain and agony that she is still going through, she is looking for answers and she knows that she will probably never get them but atleast she is trying to understand why it happened. (other then the obvious that he is a piece of crap) yes he threatened her two weeks before he killed the girls but she didnt think he would do something like that. Really if that was the case maybe we should blame everyone who was around this pos and who heard everytime he said something strange or threatening or whatever. And I know for a fact that she asked the kids if they all liked Larry and if they wanted him to be their stepdad and they said yes, so she did think of her kids. If the kids would have said No then she would not have married him, Like I said I have known Marla and her kids for along time and that is one thing I will not sit here and let you people say is that she did not think of her kids and that she isnt thinking of them now.
