    UPDATE: David Moses Jassy

RAPPER GETS 15-TO-LIFE FOR ROAD RAGE KILLING
excerpts from an article by KCRA-TV, Sacramento, CA

LOS ANGELES — A Swedish hip-hop artist who ran down and killed a man at a Hollywood crosswalk was sentenced Thursday to 15 years to life in state prison.

David Moses Jassy, who also uses the name Dave Monopoly, was sentenced in Los Angeles County Superior Court for the Nov. 23, 2008, death of John Osnes.

Judge Michael Johnson denied defense motions for a new trial and to reduce Jassy’s second-degree murder conviction to manslaughter.

“In my mind, there is no question that this is a murder” and Jassy “deserves every bit of punishment,” the judge said.

Two of Osnes’ sisters said they still grieve for him, according to letters read in court by a family friend.

“Invariably, even though I was not there, my thoughts of John are often accompanied by a mental picture of my brother lying dead on the pavement, a pool of blood forming behind his head,” Kris Osnes wrote.

Defense attorney Alec Rose said he planned to appeal the sentence.

Osnes, a 55-year-old musician and pedestrian activist, banged on the hood of Jassy’s rented sport utility vehicle after it nearly struck him in a Hollywood crosswalk, prosecutors said.

Jassy got out, punched Osnes in the face and then gave him a brutal kick in the head as he bent to pick up his glasses so that he toppled to the ground, prosecutors said.

Osnes was run down as Jassy drove away.

Prosecutors said he died from head injuries from the kick and a liver laceration caused by the SUV.

Jassy was arrested after police traced him through the rental car’s license plate.

At his trial, Jassy testified that he never intended to hurt Osnes, got out of the SUV to check for damage and thought that there was “going to be an argument, not a fight.”

Jassy said he cried when police told him that Osnes had died.

Los Angeles County Superior Court jury convicted him on Feb. 1 of second-degree murder, assault by force likely to produce great bodily injury and battery with serious bodily injury. Jurors acquitted him of first-degree murder and two other charges.

My sources tell me David Moses Jassy was also convicted of committing first degree assault on the ears of the general public for his involvement in High School Musical. He was sentenced to 6 months of watching “From Justin To Kelly” around the clock.

God, what a piece of work. I have an overwheling urge to run this fucker over a few times. And he started crying when he found out John died? I find it so stupid that this guy thought he was such a big shot to start a stupid argument with a man HE almost hit in the crosswalk. What the hell is wrong with people?? Not only does the major-douche almost run the guy over in the crosswalk, then proceed to get out and punch the guy, but then to kick him while he’s picking up his glasses and THEN run him over? Big guy, aren’t you?? We’ll see just how big you are behing bars with all the big boys. Pussy.

    2. Shemp says:

Now here’s a real fuckhead! Ricky Smyrnes from Wesley H.S. punches handicapped children and this pig runs over people? Yea, I agree with SD – Have fun in prison you asshole!

    3. ApriL says:

What did he expect, when he ran him over? Justice is served. I hope he does most of the 15 years.

    4. vcbecky says:

Jassy, I recommend you change your name to “Currency” because that’s what you will be in prison. FISH! FISH! FISH!

    5. kathybird says:

How disgusting. AND, he only gets 15 years? This should be a life sentence. He didn’t just kill this guy with his vehicle, he also killed him with a kick to the head BEFORE running him over. He cried when he found out he was dead? What, did he think the guy got up after being punched, kicked and ran over and then danced in the street? Did you figure he was giving the guy “Hollywood” experience to become a stuntman? Stupid ass. I hope he gets his ass ripped and kicked daily and then gets shanked the day he’s to be released/paroled.

      • ApriL says:

yea, he probably cried when he found out he died, because he knew he might be held accountable. I bet he cried for himself, not for John. I can’t imagine what else this man is capable of, and what he may have done before. This 15 years may have saved someone else.

      • Max The Cat says:

Some of you guys misread Mr. Jassy’s sentence. It’s 15 years TO LIFE – There’s no guarantee he’ll get out after the 15 years. All it means is he’s eligible for parole after 15 years. It could be a long time before he actually gets it.

        • kathybird says:

Thank you Max for clearing that up. It does make me feel better knowing he’ll be in there for a minimum of 15, but why should he have that “hope” to look forward to? He took all of his victims hope away and his victims family’s too. It should be just mandatory life. No hope, nothing to cling on to. Maybe he’d just curl up into a ball and die then.

    6. Lantern says:

No get out of jail free card for Dave Monopoly ?

Good thing we kept him in the country otherwise he would have become another Polanksi by hiding behind his Swedish citizenship.

Can’t wait to see what celebs pop out of the woodwork to support this clown.

    7. Heather says:

He’s going to be eaten alive in prison. Good. He deserves it.

    8. stormy weathers says:

I blame hip hop and it’s culture of violence……Shit you’d never see one of the Osmonds behaving like this.

but seriously in the rap community they wear past convictions like a badge of honour and the whole thing is pretty much one big pissing contest who can be more “Real” or some such stupid shit……..It makes me laugh that in the past the government has tried to bring metal bands to court for singing about murder and suicide…..yet rappers are actually shooting people left and right and selling crack and the industry has yet to have it’s collar felt by the long arm of the law.

      • Deedeebug95 says:

Nor the Jackson 5, you are right about the hip hop community! My question is were did this clown get his street cred ? The mean streets of Stockholm…. you know Sweden is such an unsafe country and all!

        • Steph-Ann says:

LOL….I was thinking the same thing, Dee. Hip-hop originated in the African American and Jamaican communities of New York City (with the South Bronx as the center) in the late 1970s. This guy considering himself a ‘hip-hop’ artist would be like me considering myself British because I can fake the accent. (IMO anyway) Hey Stormy, name me five rappers who’ve been arrested in the past five years for major crimes and I’m sure I could name five actors, country singers, rock and rollers, doctors, teachers, COPS (so on and so on) that have been as well. Racism is about hate, a hate that is fostered because certain people feel an entire race is no good for whatever assumptions they might have. For someone who claims to rally against racism you sure do make alot of assumptions.

          • stormy weathers says:

Maybe your right but that’s why I listen to classic Bubblegum pop….

and as far as I know The Archies, The Banana splits and Lancelot Link all have clean records.

But in all seriousness (not that i wasn’t being serious about listening to bubblegum) Rappers do seem to get into trouble with the law a lot. i mean take Death Row records which was for all practical purposes a criminal enterprise that had corrupt cops doing murders for them and were involved in a lot of violence or Wu Tang clan who also have a long list of criminal charges.

It’s a sad state of affairs but most rappers like to brag about selling crack and committing violent crimes and after a while they seem to believe their own hype and act like utter wankers just to live up to it.

            • Steph-Ann says:

              Hi Honey, =)
I’m not a big fan of hip-hop either, I just don’t think it’s fair to say all, or even most rappers are criminals. Some rap songs do advocate criminal behavior (though in truth most nowadays really just brag about their cars, houses, possessions in general.) but rather condemn the artest for how they chose to express themselves, I just don’t allow my children to listen to it. Nor can they watch violent movies or play bloody video games. All I’m saying is if someone wants to do evil, then it’s on THEM…not because he or she just finsihed listening to the latest ’50 Cent’ album and went freakin’ nuts…chances are they were pretty much fucked in the head to begin with.

            • Steph-Ann says:

              *Artist*……my bad. ;)

            • stormy weathers says:

No your totally right it’s easy to paint everybody with the same brush but probably not very fair (apparently some hip hop is the total opposite) . It’s just when i see the videos of rappers covered in bling and bikini girls telling people how hard and street they are I worry that it’s almost going to become a self fulfilling prophecy and they will start believing their own lyrics.

or at least it’s going to have some negative impact on young kids who idolise them and look to them as role models……Luckily I was a child of the grunge era most of my heroes mopped about in long cardigans and flannel shirts and sang about being depressed ;)

And I got to say you calling me honey has made my day :)

            • Ivonne says:

Stormy Weathers I’m sorry that you’re racist, classist, and extremely small-minded. I’m sorry that you want to blame rap for society’s problems. I guess rap, which originated int he 70s, actually invented rape, murder, drugs, sex, money, guns, lying, cheating, and any other unsavory thing huh? Because it’s just easier to blame people you don’t know and things you don’t know about (Death Row Records is not even relevant these days) than to take responsibility for the real issues and problems. Last time I checked, people were evil just because. The Nazis were evil just because, the pioneers who wiped out the Indians were evil just because, slave-traders were evil just because, the unibomber was evil just because, plenty of people are evil just because. And I guess people only do drugs and kill each other and kill themselves because of that evil hip hop too. Hm? And all this time I didn’t know Heath Ledger and Michael Jackson and DJ AM and Anna Nicole Smith and Tonya Harding and OJ Simpson and Daniel Baldwin and Ozzy Osbourne and Marilyn Manson (dayum the list goes on and on of people with drug/violence/criminal issues that we all know) etc etc were hip-hop heads! Yeah, it sounds pretty ridiculous huh? How about we blame this dickwad and only him for his own evil and violence. After all, I don’t think all people who listen to metal or rock wanna do LSD and eat their mothers’ brains and kill themselves though I’ve certainly heard rock and metal songs suggesting it.

            • Steph-Ann says:

LOL…Well honey, it’s because I know you mean no harm. I’m sure that when you say you resent hip-hop it really IS because of certain songs that seem to condone violence, and not because hip-hop is primarily a black industry. You’re not opposed to black people, just violence. Since you have no problem with speaking your views on rap (IMO) further shows you’re not a racist. Racist people are REAL careful what they say in mixed company because they are big cowards. There’ nothing wrong with you having issues with some of the rappers out there. I know PLENTY of black people who do as well. Some…that’s just it. Not ALL. I just once again, babyboy, had to check you for generalizing. Stormy’s not a bad guy ya’ll. Take it easy.

            • NavyCop says:

See, I hate rap and hip-hop. The only thing I listen to is Punk Rock. Sex Pistols, Iggy and the Stooges, Ramones, The Clash…. Hip-hop is savage hatred

            • VCBecky says:

I don’t consider hiphop and rap to be ‘black music’ any more than jazz or blues is. Black people may have originated it, but music is for everyone and they originated it knowing it was for everyone. Heck, their goal was to make it for everyone. There are some white and hispanic artists in the mix with the ‘black music’ too, with varying degrees of success. Wiggers piss me off not because they’re trying to ‘act black’, but because they’re emulating the worst points of the subculture that swirls around those styles of music. I find it disgusting.

I listen to and enjoy all kinds of music, but primarily heavy metal. Metal stared as ‘white’ music, but there are plenty of hispanics, blacks, asians, etc. involved and it’s really become world music. It’s not the most calming of stuff when you look at it on the surface, but for some reason it speaks to me. It does calm me to sing in my metal band. It’s like therapy for less money and no one has to know my personal secrets. I cannot condemn any music. I may find it disgusting, but that’s an emotional reaction which is the goal of all music. It speaks to someone and I can’t slam that.

Don’t blame the music for the culture. It just doesn’t work that way.

‘Cept for elevator music. That speaks to no one. Ew.

            • stormy weathers says:

“After all, I don’t think all people who listen to metal or rock wanna do LSD and eat their mothers’ brains and kill themselves though I’ve certainly heard rock and metal songs suggesting it.”

No that’s just the real cool metal motherfuckers who eat their mothers brains with a spoon while tripping out most are just posers and don’t have what it takes!!!!

“it’s just easier to blame people you don’t know and things you don’t know about”

Yeeah your right and that’s why I do it…….It was all the fault of those scary black people your honour!!!

I mean seriously you can’t tell me that you don’t see the inherit violence in hip hop culture……i mean fuck when a bunch of gang bangers are flashing guns in music videos telling people who hard they are and basically sing about a laundry list of criminal offences they are supposed to have committed without any hint of remorse then you don’t need to be a brain surgeon (or a brain eating metal head for that matter) to see that it’s probably a pretty negative influence on youth.

I mean fuck look at Ol Dirty Bastard that guy had a criminal record as long as your arm (longer if you have short arms) and he sang about all this gnarly shit he was into and from what I can make out he was loved in the hip hop community……Because being a gangster is sooooo cool to these people…….shit had the guy spent his youth doing homework and joining the chess club and volunteering down at the old peoples home on weekends then he wouldn’t have sold any records.

I mean look at hip hop cinema (or new wave blacksploitation if you will)…….every fucking film follows pretty much the same formula bunch of people growing up on the wrong side of the tracks wants to escape the hood but his loyalties are torn between the life he wants and his friends from childhood…….and every single fucking film has some sort of a shooting in it.

Now I’ve not even touched on the sexism that is a predominant feature in hip hop (or urban as it’s ridiculously being called these days) culture……hos and bbbbiiiiiaaattttcccchhhheeesss if you will are always objectified and degraded and you don’t hear many rap songs that preach about the virtues of a monogamous relationship…..No it’s all about being a player and a pimp which leads to impressionable youths thinking that it’s right to treat women as pieces of meat. (or on the other hand people like Tupac who liked to rap about treating women with respect then liked to gang rape with his crew back at the hotel)

i mean yeah metal rock has some bad influences like GG Allin (or the mentors) who was basically some brain damaged hillbilly that liked to eat his own shit while singing about rape and child molestation…….but the point is GG never glamorised this kind of behaviour……one look at that portly little man wearing women’s underwear with a bleeding head and a mouth full of faeces was enough to scare any kid onto the straight and narrow….

Where as with hip hop it’s always the ordures pieces of shit that sell the most records look at 50 cent for example the guy is a multimillion dollar franchise with clothing lines, albums films and even a couple of truly morally reprehensible video games where all he does is shoot people and act like a complete twat……and i’ve lost count of the interviews where he talks about his violent with dewy eyes and tells people that’s the reality of where he came from……..

Now maybe just maybe he was poor and because of some kind of inherent racism in the US he wasn’t afforded the same rights to education as your average American (which is a load of shit….but let’s go with it for a minute) that he was forced into selling crack cocaine and shooting at people…….you’d think that possibly when his music took off he might feel ashamed of the things he’s done and try to bury the past……but no not our good friend fiddy he went and built his entire career on the legacy of his violent past.

Even Eminem who is pretty much the modern day equivalent of Vanilla Ice is pistol whipping people outside nightclubs and that fucker is to rap what the jonas brothers are to metal.

I mean really read a news paper once in a while to level of violence in the hip hop community are off the fucking scales every month some rappers entourage gets in a fight some other rapper….and about a week later they will release a “Diss” song bragging all about it.

SO DON’T GIVE ME THIS SHIT ABOUT RAP MUSIC NOT BEING INHERENTLY VIOLENT!!!!!!

and yes metal does have some violent lyrics but the thing is it’s all theatre…….GWAR are not really giant demons who’s only goal is to sexually enslave earth (even though i’d love to think they are)…..Alice Cooper and Ozzy are not the princes of darkness (but in fact two sweet old guys who play golf)……..But on the other hand people like Snoop, DMX & 50 cent are violent unrepentant thugs.

              I’ve been Stormy Weathers

              You’ve been a beautiful audience

              GOODNIGHT!!!!!!

      • VCBecky says:

Marie Osmond’s son recently committed suicide. I’m just sayin’, is all.

I can’t stand rap or hip hop because most of the songs I have heard are glorifying lifestyles and mindsets that offend me. I think they’re products of a society that is broken, selfish, ignorant and violent.

Having said that, I feel you can’t blame the music for the violence. The violence came first, I guarantee it. Music is a byproduct of emotion, Hate and Love being the big ones and the easiest for people to write about.

        • Deedeebug95 says:

I agree Becky, music is and always has been an emotional release for artists and their listeners. They tend to write about what they experience in their lives. Do I think there are a lot of “posers” absolutely! I will almost bet that this douche bag is one. I believe he killed that man to gain respect in the music culture that he is trying to break into. Many rappers have real street cred. Unfortunately one way to gain admittance is to belong to a gang and to have committed violence. The music reflect s the culture. I am not singling out rap, all genres work with life experience one has.

Growing up my dad always said there is but 2 types of music: Country and Western. My mom loved 50′s rock and roll. She also had me listening to Louis Armstrong. Damn I love his singing. Classical I love also.

But I am always coming bach to Hardcore, punk, skin and Oi! My heart is filled with joy while listening to Blood for Blood, Bruisers, Sheer Terror, Yuppicide and so many others.

I love me some old school thrash metal also. Slayer being my favorite. Well before Dave left the band. Metallica before Cliff died. Testiment, Sacred Reich and a few others.

Music is my life’s blood. But Rap/hippety hoppety is not music. A monkey can be trained to push buttons. And putting words together that rym is no huge act of inteligence either.

fuck it all. I love music.
