I'm really happy to hear that you're doing well, and that you're with a family that cares for you.
Anyone who judges you for what happened is an asshat who doesn't deserve your time, because what happened wasn't your fault and anyone who can't see that is an idiot.
I'm glad you're using your experience to help. No one who is forced into helping is ever truly a help, but you sound like you're enjoying doing that. Hold onto that and use it. Someone down the road is going to need your compassion and empathy after their experience, and I hope you continue to do good.
I'm glad you've found forgiveness. I'll never condone what your parents or the car dealer did, but if you're willing to offer your parents forgiveness, I'm willing to hold back any harsh words I could say about them. You've proven your maturity.
I wish you the best of luck in anything you are planning on doing in the future. I hope that whatever it is you have success and bring happiness to yourself. And if you bring happiness to anyone else, that's a bonus.

I know the young lady who is the victim in this story. She is an amazing 16 year old who is focused and holds no bitterness for what happened to her. Instead she chooses to focus her energies on her education so that she can go to college to earn a degree that wil allow her to help children in abusive situations. She is strong, has a good attitude and believes in herself. She is smart and has a great deal of common sense. She has every right to be bitter, angry and vindictive yet she will not allow herself to become the kind of person her parents are.....she wants better for her life and I believe she has the drive to reach her goals. You will hear great things from this young lady in the future....she will be remembered not because of what happened to her but rather how she chose to rise above the hand she was dealt. She is my hero

Can't blame the government. Why is it their responsibility to make sure people aren't assholes? Ignorant people, I'm talking people living in undiscovered rain forests in neanderthal conditions, raise their young with love and care. It's an instinct, not a learned behavior. Rape and child abuse are unacceptable in any society. Those things go against survival, if for no other reason.

I think 'an eye for an eye' would do wonders for the child welfare system. If a kid gets burned by an iron, burn the parent. If a kid is cut, raped, beaten, castrated, drowned, etc., inflict the same horror and degradation on the responsible parties whoever they are. If a person rapes a child, put that person into general population and let the inmates know what they did. An eye for an eye is quite a deterrent if it's used properly.

Stormy, before you say it, no I don't think that's barbaric in the least. If someone doesn't have the instinct to treat children properly, they have something missing from their mind and no amount of education can change that. They're a monster. Kill it. Just kill it.

Society shouldn't be obligated to treat the individual more humanely than that individual treats society. I have never read a logical argument that convinced me otherwise.

Whatever happened to personal responsibility? Just because someone is well educated does not mean that he/she will be a good person, mike. Ted Bundy, Armin Miewes, David Koresh; these men were well-educated and they still turned out to be twisted human beings.
