UPDATE: Ivan Hancock
Ivan Hancock was handed down a sentence of 15 years to life today in prison by Superior Court Judge Arthur Harrison in a Fontana court room.
Hancock had pleaded no contest last month to one count of second degree murder in the beating death of 15-month old Amber Russell, the daughter of this then-girlfriend, Iyesha Lightcsy. Lightscsy also was charged with murder and later pleaded guilty to child endangerment. She was sentenced to eight years in prison.
Hancock was also charged with murder in the beating death in San Bernardino of Talonia Johnson-Boutee, who was also 15 months old when she died Jan. 2, 2007, after a New Year’s Eve 2006 assault.
Sad to report that the murder charges of little Talonia were dismissed as part of the plea agreement in the murder case of little Amber. District Attorney Vicki Hightower, who was to prosecute the case, stated that Hancock will not be eligible for parole until he’s served the full 15 years in prison and will remain on parole for life.

Patricia Darby often wonders what it would have been like to watch her granddaughter, Amber Russell, grow up.
Amber died at 15 months old almost six years ago. Authorities found her beaten and strangled in a Colton apartment in August 2004. She was covered with bruises, had cuts on her throat and a cigarette burn on her chest, police said at the time.
On Monday, Ivan Hancock, 48, of San Bernardino, was sentenced in a Fontana courtroom to 15 years to life in prison for the killing as part of a plea deal he agreed to last month. He pleaded no contest to one count of second-degree murder in the death of Amber, the daughter of his then-girlfriend, Iyesha Lightcsy.
Lightcsy also was charged with murder and later pleaded guilty to child endangerment. She was sentenced last year to seven years and four months in prison.
Two years after Amber’s death, Hancock — who had not yet been charged — was implicated in the beating death of another toddler.
He was charged with murder in the killing in San Bernardino of Talonia Johnson-Boutee, who also was 15 months old when she died Jan. 2, 2007, after a New Year’s Eve 2006 assault. That charge was dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
Talonia’s mother, Talonia Henderson, 38, who was Hancock’s girlfriend at the time of her daughter’s
killing, pleaded guilty last month to child abuse and to infliction of great bodily injury. She is scheduled to be sentenced Friday and faces 12 years in prison.
Authorities suspected Hancock and Lightcsy in Amber’s killing but could not obtain charges initially due to what they described as lack of cooperation from witnesses.
Following Talonia’s death, prosecutors reopened the case and filed charges in both cases in November 2008.
Darby of San Bernardino, who is Lightcsy’s mother, broke down in tears as she attempted to read a statement before Hancock’s sentencing, describing the pain the family has suffered.
“Amber was my little sweet baby,” she said
Darby said later Hancock’s conviction helps a little.
“I needed that closure,” she said. “I just wish he could have gotten more time. I just don’t want anybody to go through what I went through.”
Angela Stephens, Darby’s sister and Amber’s great-aunt, said Hancock should have gotten a harsher sentence.
“Fifteen years to life, that seems too lightweight to me,” she said. “(Amber) didn’t even get to spend 15 years on Earth.”
Deputy District Attorney Vicki Hightower, who was responsible for reopening the case, called the outcome a “long time coming.”
Hancock will not be eligible for parole until he’s served a full 15 years in prison and will remain on parole for life, she said
“I think ultimately it gives justice to both of the victims,” Hightower said.
Hancock’s attorney, Julian Ducre, said he had no comment on behalf of his client.
Editor’s Notes: Perhaps one of you fine people can explain to me how dropping murder charges against Ivan Hancock for beating Talonia Johnson-Boutee to death in anyways gave justice to this little victim.
Lets just go over the injuries Talonia suffered. The 15-month-old toddler had extreme swelling to her brain, bruising of her neck and face, and several cuts on her body. She was strangled to death, but also showed signs of being severely abused over a period of weeks.
Now, because of a plea deal, Ivan Hancock will never go to trial for the horrible things he did to her. He will never pay for ending her life in the cruelest of ways, despite several witnesses who saw him do many of the things he is accuse of doing.
I’m pleased that Baby Talonia’s waste of skin mother, Talonia Henderson, pled guilty to child abuse and infliction of great bodily injury, and is awaiting sentencing. She faces up to 32 years in the California state prison of your choice.
I’m also glad that Iyesha Lightcsy, the incubator and so-called mother of Amber Russell is serving a eight year sentence for child endangerment connected with baby Amber’s death.
I guess the best we can hope for is that Ivan Hancock never receives parole – 15 years just isn’t enough for the life of an innocent baby, much less two of them. It’s disgraceful that this walking, talking puss bag gets to breath the same air as all of us, while Amber Russell’s and Talonia Johnson-Boutee’s tiny bodies decompose in the cold, wet ground.
I don’t know what can be done about this, except to offer my condolences to the families. For all my anger and hurt, nothing I feel can compare to what they have been, and still are, going through. I can wish the best for them, and hope someday they will be able to move on with their lives.

I was just reading YESTERDAY how the “Long Beach Slasher” got over 400 years in prison, and 11 consecutive LIFE sentences for STEALING and SLASHING two women in the process of committing the robberies, but he did not kill not one person…. and all these baby killers, and rapists get off SOOO EASY.. this guy killed TWO babies and gets 15 years? that doesnt even add up to 10 years per murder… Does that make sense to anyone????

This was my thought exactly… I have a baby girl a little older than these two angels and it is such a fun age. How could anyone want to hurt a sweet baby girl?? And this guy found not one, but TWO cum dumpsters to turn a blind eye or even help him murder their babies. Hell for all three!
Almost once a week I hear about these women(that don’t have a maternal bone in their body) letting some asshole they just met “disipline” their young children. I, by far, hate these bitches the most out of everyone featured on this site. It would seem to me that these “women”(and I use that term as loosely as their vaginas are) are lacking the very qualities that are supposed to make them women. Kindness, compassion, protectiveness of their children. Female animals in the wild do a better job of taking care of their young. There is two kinds of those bitches….Ones that know the kids are being abused….and ones that pretend to have no idea that their boyfriend could do such a thing. I hate them both. Like a woman doesn’t know that small children require an extreme amount of patience and that the guy you just met, who probably sees your kid as being in the way, might not be the best baby sitting option.

I am outraged. I am not a fan of drug dealing, but it seems insane to me that a drug dealer could actually get more time than a two time baby killer. Fifteen years….ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? I bet they get even more pissed when they have babies of their own that they can’t see because they’re in prison for petit theft or some other lesser crime. Fortunately, in the hierarchy of the prison system, those who prey on children are at the bottom of the chain. Unfortunately, it’s usually those same people who are allowed to do their time in solitary confinement so they don’t get murdered.
I heard from an acquaintaince who was a prison guard in all of California’s federal facilities, that even if the child killers are kept separate and protected, the other guys are persistent and sooner or later get at them. They get very creative. They have nothing else to do.
That soothes my soul a bit.

He said the guards will literally just turn their back and then can tell their superiors truthfully “I didn’t see anything happen.” He also said inmates with muscle on the outside manage to bribe the guards. Was a prison guard at ElDorado ks and could never figure out why? 1. Why are we not allowed to let inmates know what they have done? 2. Why we are not allowed to let them kill themselves? 3. Why we are not allowed to strap them to a picnic table and let the other inmates use them with pipe, barbed wire, pop bottles, FISTS, (or anything handy) as long as they continued to be coherent for at least 24-48 hours!!!!! As far as many of us are concerned, if someone is sent to prison for a violent crime, they shouldn’t get special protection for any reason. They didn’t grant someone a safe life when they had the chance, they shouldn’t get one themselves.
They’re in prison because they committed evil against another human being, and they should have to forfeit their ‘person’ card. If people have to be terrified of the gulag in order to be good humans, let it be so. It works for religion, it’ll work for prison.
Prison should be a nightmare deterrent and a punishment because, let’s face it, there’s not really any such thing as rehab for the vast majority of violent, repeat offenders. You have to WANT to change, and even then it takes a lot of strength to remain on the right path once you figured out how to creep off of it. I have yet to hear about a truly strong violent criminal, at least not ‘strong’ in any way that matters.

Don’t know if anyone remembers me….I was a regular for a while, but had to go away for a bit. I gave birth to another gorgeous baby boy this past March, and am quite busy doing the mommy thing to him and my two-year old.
Anyways….I hope to be posting a bit more now that things have calmed down a bit, and I have an extra 3 minutes of free time a day. :)

I’m sleeping pretty ok actually. My first child had colic, so I think I got maybe 4 hours of sleep that first 6 months….lol….my new little boy sleeps for 6-7 hours a stretch now. -I will gladly take it.

And my new little man is doing great !!! Colic-free !!!! – Which makes me think, y’know I’m always reading stories on here about these pieces of shit “parents” who shake, harm, and even murder their babies for crying. Well let me tell you something, and any parent of a baby with colic will agree with me. With my first son the crying wasn’t for seconds, it wasn’t for minutes, it was for HOURS. Literally….hours upon hours every single day for about 4-5 months. My husband and I hardly slept, barely ate…all we did was carry him, swaddle him, walk with him, drive with him….do ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING we could to comfort him. And never at any point did we harm him. Was the crying annoying ? You bet it was…but you get your shit together and leave he room if you’re getting stressed out. The thought of, “Oh, perhaps if we break his rib he’ll stop crying”, or, “Maybe if we throw him up in the air and let him hit the ceiling he’ll chill out”, or even better…”Let’s shake the fuck out of him instead”…nope, those thoughts never entered our minds. And I’m happy to report that we now have a very happy, relatively calm two-year old.
When I hear about these worthless parents hurting their babies for doing what babies do, which is crying….I swear I want to bludgeon each and every one of them.

In this case, he will have to serve the entire 15 years and then he will be eligible for parole. Unless someone on the parole board is as ignorant as whoever signed off on this deal is, then I don’t think he will be getting out anytime soon. But I totally see what you mean though. Sad to admit but in a professional capacity I had the misfortune of meeting Ivan when he was a teenager. His capacity for killing young children, I mean BABIES,does not surprise me. What’s sad is that he will be housed in protective custody with other like-minded individuals. Ivan’s mother, Pat, loved him very much and he was abusive to her. He was abusive to his sisters and his young nephews. 15 years in prison is not enough.
