Kim Sherrie Gonzalez And Paul M. Gonzalez Jr.
Everybody take a minute to reflect on your own childhood.What about your favorite place to go or funnest things you did? What about memories of loved ones or playing with your friends? Unfortunately, not all kids remember happy times with their loved ones. This, my friends, is a story about a beautiful brown eyed angel named Andrea.
Andrea was born to Michelle and Paul Gonzalez in Alabama. Eventually Andrea, her older brother, Michelle and Paul packed up and moved to Illinois. Not long after getting settled down Michelle gave birth to another son, this child was not Paul’s child, so he went back to Alabama.
Andrea and her two brothers were bounced around between Michelle and foster homes. During this time she was beaten, raped, and neglected. Andrea’s foster parents say that when she came to them she had stomach parasites, used profanity and had severe emotional and behavioral problems.
After Michelle was released from prison Illinois DCFS tried to arrange visitation with Andrea and the boys but she always failed to show up. Finally, DCFS contacted Paul and asked if he would be interested in taking Andrea. He agreed to come get her. The two little boys were put up for adoption.
Can you imagine what this little girl must have been feeling like? Her brothers were probably the closest thing to her that had ever showed her love, and now they too are taken from her?
In early 1993 Andrea moved in with Paul and his new wife Kim, who was pregnant their first child. From everything I can tell Kim was not 
happy about Andrea being there. On November 20, 1993, Paul and Kim reported their 5 year old daughter was missing from their mobile home in Russellville, Alabama.
When detectives got there they did not notice any forced entry. Kim was quick to explain that in older trailers like theirs one can easily pick the lock. More than 400 volunteers started searching but found no sign of Andrea.
I was nine-years-old at the time this happened and lived 10-15 miles from her home. I remember seeing pictures and little pink bows everywhere. In most pictures Andrea had long black hair but I remember seeing one where all her hair was cut off. Kim said she did it to punish the child.
Investigators finally called the search off because they suspected foul play. They gave both Paul and Kim lie detector results. Paul’s first results were inconclusive and Kim failed miserably (go figure, right?) A few days later Paul took another lie detector test and he passed.
On February 13, 1995 I guess Kim’s conscience got the best of her. She went to the police station and admitted she had scalded Andrea in the bathtub and then made her go to bed. After some time she went to check on the child and she was dead.
So, of course, she called 911, right? NEGATIVE!!
She claims she panicked and wrapped Andrea in two trash bags and attached a cylinder block to it held by extension cords just before she 
threw her off Mon Dye bridge. This lake is on Upper Bear Creek lake in the town of Phil Campbell, Alabama.
Now remember earlier when I asked you to recall your favorite place to go as a child? Well this was mine. I would go there with my two brothers, mom, dad, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. After all, it was right beside my house.
Police dragged the bottom of the lake while divers searched the waters, but neither found a trace of Andrea. By this time Paul changed his story and said he is the one that threw Andrea in the lake.
At first both were charged with capital murder but with no body and a change of venue they might just get off lucky huh?!? Paul’s trial was scheduled for April 1997 in Troy Alabama, but he decided to take a plea of manslaughter and testify against Kim. In exchange he would only receive 10 years in prison.
On May 12, 1997 Kim went on trial in Greenville, Alabama. Her oh so lovely defense attorney, Rebecca Green claimed Kim was a victim of domestic violence and Paul had actually killed Andrea and forced Kim to take the wrap. Evidently this worked for someone because Kim Gonzalez was found NOT GUILTY of murder but guilty of child abuse. She got 4 years!!
On September 20, 1997 Paul Gonzalez became a free man. Even though he got 10 years they counted the 18 months he was in the county 
as time served and released him. Kim was released November 2001.
This story hits home so hard anytime i think of it. Maybe it’s because we around the same age, or because she supposedly was buried in my favorite place, the lake.I remember Kim crying on television saying ” whoever has Andrea just please bring her back, just take her to Wal-mart. WTF? Wal-mart? Are you serious? I was 9 and even I knew she was guilty from day one.
Some people think she was buried somewhere while others think she was sold. The only thing that anyone knows for sure is this child is still missing and the two people that do know will not tell where she is. I do know this has devastated Franklin County, Alabama for going on 17 years now. I just hope wherever she is maybe she can either Rest in Peace or be happy.
Editor’s Notes: There’s a verse in the Gospel according to Mark that records Jesus saying:
“And whoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged around his neck and he were cast in the sea.”
There are actually several translations of this passage of the Bible, but this has always been my favorite. It’s almost 
sounds like Christ is laying down the law – If you hurt little children, I will make you wish you had never been born.
This thought is always with me whenever I’m working a story about child abuse,child rape, and child murder.
The fact that there was a huge miscarriage of justice concerning the murder of Andrea Gonzales upsets me greatly, but not nearly as much as the though of what must have happened to little five-year-old Andrea the night her stepmother Kim Gonzales scalded her to death and then threw her body into a lake.
This case truly has haunted the town of Russellville, Alabama – I found articles from 2009 that discuss what happened to the poor little girl with the angelic smile. The MySpace Page that went up in 1993, when Andrea Gonzalez was just a missing person, is still active, and the memorial to Andrea built at the Franklin County Jail is an important part of the town’s character.
As Tiffany mentioned, there’s been a lot of talk about whether or not Andrea Gonzalez is really dead, or if she was sold to another couple. In 2008, things went as far as comparing Andrea’s DNA with the DNA of a 20-year-old woman whose background and appearance was somewhat similar to the missing girl’s. Unfortunately, when the results came back there was no match.
UPDATE 12/11/2010 – Tiffany managed to find Kim Gonzalez’s Facebook page before the bitch took it down. Oh how the guilty hate the light of day, don’t they? She’s dropped the Gonzalez from her name and is going by her maiden name of Kim Williams, even though she still resides in Russellville, Alabama. I guess the most infuriating thing about this creep’s profile was under employers. She identified her daughter Elizabeth and her son Phillip as her employers, listed her job title as, “Peacemaker and Bodyguard”, and gave her job description as follows; “Keeping them from causing harm to one another. Also always making sure no one will ever harm them.”
It almost seemed like she was secretly taunting everyone. “Also always making sure no one will ever harm them.” Seriously Kim? Isn’t that a case of too little too late, and that’s only if we believe your story that Paul killed Andrea.
Andrea. Remember her Kim? She was your daughter until someone killed her, took her body out of your home and hid it at a yet to be discovered location.
Look, we all know it was you who killed Andrea and it was you and Paul who disposed of the remains. Why won’t you tell people where she is? You’re protected by double jeopardy, so you can’t be harmed by revealing the truth now. Her grandmother is making herself crazy thinking she may still be alive. Why won’t you relieve her suffering?

The problem is, with situations like this, the courts almost feel the child is valued by how the family valued them. A child who is adored by their family seems to always get more justice than a child whom nobody cared for. Look at the Nixzmary Brown case. Neither the step father nor mother got life in prison and they should have. BUT, I bet you anything Casey Anthony will get death when she goes to trial.
I don’t care how little or much value that kid gets. The parents who did the crime should be exposed to critical mass and get radiation poisoning.

This quote has always given me hope.
This still upsets me everyday. My God, how can anyone scald their child to death. Then about 4-5 years ago Andrea’s little brother was found walking around with underwear and socks on and tested positive for drugs. Kim did some more time but not near long enough. Paul took his ass back to Texas. Kim was beaten on a regular basis while in Franklin County Jail for this murder.
I hope that writing the article brought some amount of peace to you. Glad she got her ass beat on a regular basis – that certainly makes me feel a tiny bit better about the whole thing.
I think that they should have served longer prison sentences… It is so sad that there is truly no justice for abused & murdered children.This country is failing our children and not protecting them like them should. How many kids will have to be murdered before anyone stops it? If they get a case against anyone about child abuse why don’t they do something about it instead of leaving the child in the situation and than murdered a few days later.I look at the pictures of Andrea and her brothers and don’t understand how anyone couldn’t love them. I just mostly don’t understand why people are so irresponsible by having so many children and than not wanting them. All children are a blessing and they deserve to be happy and taken care of.
I don’t even know what to say. But this kind of thing happens so often that it’s almost like, somebody beat their kid to death, what else is new? The only comfort I get from this is knowing that hell awaits these two fools.

Wow I got the chills reading this. You really touched me with this story Tiffany. Child abuse hits me like nothing else in this world. I get a terrible feeling in my stomach when I hear about this stuff. There’s so much I wanna say, but gonna close my eyes for a little now:(

I’m hoping these two are given no peace. I hope their friends and families and neighborhood turn against them and remind them every day of what they did to this innocent child. How they could allow themselves to live after what they did… I’d kill me. I seriously would.
I guess I should feel lucky that I grew up playing in the Manson Caves in Chatsworth for a time. There isn’t a whole lot of horror that could ruin those memories… ;)
Thanks everyone for your words of encouragement. I love writing it’s always been a hobby of mine and I just want these cases and the victims to be remembered. I love PYSIH and my new found friends here. I am so glad that this website was made to remember all these victims and allow people to see what kind of monsters that live amongst us all. Child abuse is not about status, religion, race, sex etc. it affects us all. I’m just glad I am able to share my opinion on some of these monsters and angels that died far too soon.

Poor Andrea, I don’t even know what stomach parasites are (?), I’ll have to look that up. How could no one love or want this precious little angel? Why the hell is Kim and Paul out of prison? This makes no sense to me at all. Why was this case closed? There are so many questions.
I read this story last night and tried to comment but I think (?) PYSIH was having problems beause I couldn’t comment. Or maybe it was on my end. I visited the myspace page that was set up for Andrea, it was beautiful.
After that I went to facebook and looked her up there. Andrea’s older brother Anthony Cantrell created a page for her that says “Andrea R Gonzalez is my lil sister she has been missing sence she was 5 yrs old she would be 21 now and im making this group for those who want her found as much as i do facebook please dont delete me for this….”
He mentions his father being a monster and promising his sister that he would not put a picture of him on the FB page.
In July he mentioned that he hoped the new Sheriff in town would reopen the case and try to find her.

SO many things come to my mind thinking of this little girl. Her siblings obviously loved her very much and want to find her. I can’t imagine losing someone so close and not ever having the closure that comes with burying your loved one. That’s a HUGE step in the grieving process, without it how do you move on? I don’t think you do.
Ok so I was snooping around on Facebook too and found Michelle,Andrea’s bio-mom. She is still in Illinois and apparently has more kids. She posted on Anthony’s wall apologizing to him and Craig(Andrea’s little brother) but on November 24th 2010, apparently she was drunk and saying how her dad was the only person in her life. Her mother came on there asking about Anthony and her 2 new kids. They never mentioned Craig at all. He did speak up though and tell her he loves her. More recent than that though she said her kids were claiming a family with the same last name as her….I think her mom adopted him from what I can gather.She never not 1 freaking time mentioned Andrea. I even went back to 11-20 to see if she had posted something about her but no she didn’t. She didn’t even tell Anthony Happy B-day on 11-21(the day after Andrea came up missing)
This has always been hard on me but looking at these kids profile is tugging on my heart. Wonder what those kids must feel like? This is so freaking sad.
That pisses me off, Andrea’s birthday is in Jan? I’m tempted to add a reminder to go on Michelle’s FB to ask about her at that time. It probably wouldn’t even phase her though.

I wish I had not read this..I am so pissed that this woman can have a facebook page & go on with her life after serving only 4 years for this crime. That poor baby, where is the justice?? Her entire life was abuse, the only kind thing I can say is she is no suffering. Sad story.
Justice will be when both Andrea and Kim are in heaven together – Andrea will be sitting by a camp fire and Kim will be the log.
This sounds lie one of those crimes where individually everyone is innocent, but together they are all guilty. A great flaw in our system – try everyone separately and no one is guilty.
Since they were tried separately, I guess the Easter Bunny is to blame; Santa Claus could not have done that – he breaks into peoples houses and leaves stuff – the tooth fairy would have left way more cash for an entire body and everyone knows that they Great Pumpkin does not exist.

You are just like all other media…simply ignorant. I think the best advice that I could give you is to actually do some research before you post something. Kim is my mother..my biological mother, and just so you wont strain on actually getting the facts, my mother wasn’t pregnant with her first child when all this first started. She was pregnant with her second child. Maybe we will see you and the rest of the media in hell as well, since you are so worried about our day to day lives.
