Lynn Ellingsen
Robert William Pickton is, without question, the lowest, vilest form on life in Canada. He deserves to die a torturous death a thousand times over and yet he lives on, unscathed. True, he is incarcerated, but considering the nature of his crimes — the torture and murder of dozens and dozens and dozens of women (49 by his count), he cannot be punished sufficiently within the Canadian justice system.
But Robert William Pickton did not act alone. He did not live and kill in a vacuum. He had help, and inconceivably, unforgivably, outrageously that “help” has yet to face any justice at all. She will never, ever be put on trial for the incalculable harm she allowed to be perpetuated by one of Canada’s worst serial killers.

Lynn Ellingsen did testify against her pal Robert William Pickton at his trial. Her testimony was bought for the price of immunity. It was a pact the prosecutors made with a future resident of hell, if there is any justice at all.
Lynn Ellingsen is a cocaine addict and an alcoholic. She had to give up custody of her son because of her addictions. She prostituted 
herself to pay for her cocaine. She committed welfare fraud. She stole, lied, cheated, whatever it took to pay for her cocaine.
Lynn Ellingsen met Robert Pickton through a mutual friend, Gina Houston. Pickton generously offered this cocaine-riddled whore a job on his Port Coquitlam pig farm, cleaning up his trailer and such. He was unquestionably a slob. He also offered her the use of a room in his trailer. She was grateful. She lived there for several months.
While cleaning his trailer she would find $50 and $100 bills lying around. Pickton had piles of money – he was a rich serial killer (and that just totally galls me!). Lynn Ellingsen said she would show Pickton the money she found and he would just let her keep it. Pickton told others she was stealing from him. I believe him. I just can’t imagine a cocaine addict offering to hand over loose money she found. Regardless, she used this found money to buy drugs.
On March 20, 1999 Pickton was feeling “frisky” and took Lynn Ellingsen along with him to Vancouver to pick up a girl. OK, a prostitute. This is weird — how many men would take a woman along to pick up a prostitute?
Maybe Pickton wanted to make his future victim feel safe, less vulnerable as he drove her out of town. Maybe Lynn Ellingsen was there to 
reassure the girl that he was a good guy, that they were going to party. Prostitutes were becoming wary of creepy looking dudes at the time, what with the disappearances. Pickton was definitely creepy looking.
Lynn Ellingsen and Pickton drove to Downtown Eastside, Vancouver where the pickings were good. It was also where 13 prostitutes were last seen alive in the months and years preceding.
Pickton chose a pretty aboriginal girl with long black hair and bangs and high cheekbones. Her name was Georgina Papin, but neither Pickton or Lynn Ellingsen bothered to ask.
“She was a very pretty girl,” Lynn Ellingsen testified.
They returned to the pig farm and Lynn Ellingsen trotted off to her room to smoke crack cocaine. Pickton was left alone with his “date.”
Lynn Ellingsen testified that she heard a noise that was strange enough to bring her out of her room. She didn’t say what the noise was, but obviously it didn’t sound like the grunts and groans of a man and woman having sex.
Once out of her room, she spotted a light in the barn which was next to the trailer. This was the barn where Pickton slaughtered pigs. Lynn 
Ellingsen headed out to the barn and encountered an odour most foul. Curiosity made her open the door.
Lynn Ellingsen saw Pickton. She saw the women they’d brought back with them. Only the woman wasn’t standing up. She wasn’t lying down. She was hanging from a chain. By the neck. She was dead. And she was being skinned.
“I saw this body. It was hanging,” she told the court. “Willy pulled me inside, behind the door. Walked me over to the table. Made me look. Told me if I was to say anything, I’d be right beside her.”
Lynn Ellingsen continued, “This woman that we had picked up — at my eye level was where her feet, like her legs were, I seen red toenail polish. On this big shiny table, I don’t know what it was, but it was lots of blood and uh, hair, black hair.”
Asked if Pickton was doing anything to the woman she replied, “He was cutting something. There was blood everywhere. I just remember 
staring at her feet.”
“How was she hanging?” asked the Crown prosecutor.
“The same way he hung his pigs. There was a chain right there. That’s where she was, where he does his pigs.”
She further testified, “There were knives with blood on them. He was full of blood himself. He was cutting something that was on the table. I don’t know what it was.”
I can’t imagine the absolute horror of it — the blood, the gore, the strips of flesh, the hanging body, and a maniacal killer standing right there with knives in his blood soaked hands. OMFG.
Lynn Ellingsen gave many different versions to police as to how she got out of the barn, and whichever version was the truth, she managed to extract herself alive and unharmed.
The version she told the court was he later sent her off in a taxi to go buy some drugs. She wound up at her friend Val’s house.
Now I readily admit I know nothing about how the drug-addled brains of cocaine addicts work. I do not understand for the life of me how Lynn Ellingsen’s brain works.
If I had seen the absolute horror of a killer skinning a freshly murdered woman and lived to tell about it, I WOULD TELL ABOUT IT! I would march my carcass into the nearest police station, or I would grab the nearest phone and call 911. Because HOLY FRIGGIN HELL I saw a man slaughtering a woman in a barn!
I would tell even if I promised the killer I wouldn’t and that’s the reason he let me live. Even if I had crossed my heart, I would tell. Even if I pinky swore, I would still tell. Because Jeezus H. Christ there was a murder!
Now maybe Lynn Ellingsen didn’t trust the police not to arrest her. Maybe she thought going in to the police station all coked up would be bad. She could have told the taxi driver to call 911. She could have told her friend to call 911. The very next time she found herself sober she could have called police. She could have left an anonymous tip, for pity’s sake. But she didn’t.
Maybe Lynn Ellingsen imagined she’d been hallucinating on cocaine. Maybe she thought it wasn’t real. It was, after all, like a scene out of a horror flick. I don’t know — does cocaine cause hallucinations? But Lynn Ellingsen testified in court that she 
does not hallucinate on cocaine, and that she bloody well knew that the horrors she saw were real.
The RCMP’s Forensic Lab Toxicology Section is of the opinion that cocaine is not a hallucinogenic drug, and at worst would cause paranoia/psychosis. I choose to believe them. So she knew it was all sickeningly real.
Now maybe Lynn Ellingsen really was threatened by Pickton. Maybe he did actually promise to kill her if she told anyone, and it was fear that made her silent.
Fear didn’t keep Lynn Ellingsen away from the pig farm. She returned a couple of times to retrieve her belongings. Imagine, she was willing to go back to the scene of a gruesome murder to get her stuff! With a killer on the property!
And fear didn’t keep her silent. She wasn’t silent. She told her friend Thomas all about it. And Thomas went to the police in July 1999 and told them all about this Lynn Ellingsen who had seen Robert William Pickton hang a woman by the neck in his barn, cut strips of flesh off 
her legs and murder her.
Thomas further told the police that Lynn Ellingsen assisted in bringing sex trade workers (plural) back to Pickton’s property, and she had also reported seeing personal property belonging to sex trade workers (plural) in his trailer.
So on August 4th, 1999 Lynn Ellingsen was interviewed by the Provincial Unsolved Homicide Unit. And what did she do? She denied saying any such thing to Thomas. And she walked away.
But Lynn Ellingsen had told another friend called Wood all about it. Wood went to the Burnaby RCMP on August 7th, 1999. Wood told them about the gruesome slaughter scene in the barn.
Wood further told them that Lynn Ellingsen had confided that she thought Pickton was responsible for other murders, and that Pickton had kept women’s legs in his freezer. (The police eventually did find body parts in Pickton’s freezer, so this is not beyond belief.)
On August 10th, 1999 the Burnaby RCMP interviewed her. And she denied it all. She said it was a pig she saw being slaughtered, and it had made her throw up.
At the end of August, 1999 she was re-interviewed by the Provincial Unsolved Homicide Unit and again she denied seeing any murder. She did agree to take a polygraph but backed out. Big surprise.
So Lynn Ellingsen was willing to blab all about Robert William Pickton’s murderous ways to her friends, but not to the investigators. If it were actual fear of Pickton’s wrath, she wouldn’t have told anybody at all.
Nope, it wasn’t fear that stopped Lynn Ellingsen from reporting the murder. I could understand fear. Fear can override a lot of decent impulses. Fear can narrow your scope of action down to basic self-preservation. But it wasn’t fear driving Lynn Ellingsen’s bald-faced lies to police.
It all came down to greed.
See, Lynn Ellingsen saw not just a woman’s murdered corpse hanging in that barn. She saw an opportunity. Pickton had money (ka-ching!) and she had a habit.
Does cocaine decimate every atom of decency in a human being? Does it destroy every natural human feeling? Because Lynn Ellingsen had none left when she began to blackmail Robert William Pickton.
That’s what Georgina Papin’s gruesome death and dismemberment meant to Lynn Ellingsen — money. In $500 increments.
And what happened because of Lynn Ellingsen’s non-cooperation with investigators? This is what happened:

Lynn Ellingsen sat on her horror story until February 24, 2002 – two days after Pickton’s arrest. THEN she cooperated with the police. But ONLY if they signed an agreement granting her immunity from prosecution.
Lynn Ellingsen not only extracted an immunity agreement, she also extracted $16,000 from the RCMP. They paid for her rent, her living expenses, her drug rehabilitation treatment (which didn’t work), new clothes, and a new front tooth.
I am sickened that this soulless twisted shit stain is allowed to roam free. I am horrified that this piece of inhuman trash will never face justice in this life. I wish her a speedy voyage to the warmer climes of hell. And Pickton can join her too.

This woman has no soul…what an evil conniving, greedy,selfish, pathetic bitch, i can understand being afraid but she went back several times, she wasn’t too afraid to shake him down for money was she?? makes you wonder if she was more involved than anyone knows.
There is a lot to the Pickton case that has yet to be resolved. Not sure if it ever will. Lynn isn’t the only one who knew more than she should have and did nothing. I have followed this case closely and some of the theories out there are downright disturbing. Don’t get me wrong, this story in itself is creepy and very sad, but keep in mind that Pickton distributed human meat out of that farm, and no one really came forward to admit they took meat from that farm. You can always count on the people that wouldn’t want to know if they consumed human meat mixed with their pork, but personally I would want to know if there could be any problems health wise (mad cow). And then with piggy palace being so close…. It almost makes me think of that movie Hostile.

I guess the saying is true…drug addicts will do ANYTHING in order to sustain their habit. However, my withering faith in humanity still makes me question that. Lynn Ellingsen looks fairly young. She may someday get off of the drugs and find a normal sense of empathy and compassion and shame and guilt buried under all the years of partying and denial. If and when that happens, the guilt is going to hit her like a ton of bricks. Of course, that probably won’t happen, and she will probably live out her life finding people to sympathize with her side of things, which will inevitably cast her as the victim.
I feel so sorry for this poor women. They could have been saved, and indeed their blood is on Lynn’s Ellsingsen hands as well as the killer.

Professor Austin Sarat used to teach a class at Amherst a few years back simply titled “Murder”….I would have killed to get into that class. Enrollment surpassed “Human Sexuality”. That might very well have been one college class I would have stayed awake for.
Elizabeth Bathory killed +650 people is probably one of the most prolific serial killers in history, regardless of sex. She makes Ted Bundy look like an amateur. Some people say that Bathory was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” besides Vlad “The Impaler” Tepes. She was said to bathe to human blood to stay young and was referred as “Blood Countess” or “Countess Dracula”.

I just checked the link. They really don’t go into detail much, do they? Bathory used to pick servant girls at random to torture. She’d cover a naked woman with honey and tie her to a red ant hill in Summer until she was stung to death. In Winter, it was easier – she’d send a naked, soaking wet woman out into the elements to freeze to death. Many other stories. Truly a fascinating subject.

People don’t’ know about Elizabeth Bathory? The story goes that she slapped a servant for pulling her hair, and the slap was so vicious that it splattered blood onto her cheek. She noticed the skin beneath the blood was smoother than the rest of her skin, so she started to bathe in the blood of her servants. She was also a biter, but I don’t recall reading any evidence that she actually drank their blood. There were many rumors surrounding her, and they perpetuate to this day. I believe they’re still finding bodies buried around her castle. It got so bad that she took to simply tossing corpses out of the tower windows, without bothering to bury them.

I was in a production of Marat/Sade many years ago (I hate typing out the full title. ;) ). It was one of the most intriguing theater experience I’ve ever participated in, and that’s saying quite a lot. It wasn’t written by De Sade, but it is about him.
During my prep for the show (I was an Asylum Inmate, of course!), I read all of De Sade’s existing work that I could get a hold of. Much of it is out of print. If you’ve not read “Marat/Sade”, you should. I believe there’s even a video of the production somewhere out there – not my show, but A show, and as I recall it’s quite good. Could probably find it, if you wanted to. :D
I am surprised few have heard of Elizabeth Bathory. She should be well known because she is in the Guiness Book of World Records and it is one of the most read books.
The most prolific serial killer is Thug Behram. He killed 931 people.

On a far more serious note, this woman is guilty of a lot of things I think… she was almost as much a murderer as he was. But I also think that she was a complete and utter traitor. It might be the feminist in me I’m not sure, or maybe just an empathy I have with other women, but I can’t bear to see women attacked or hurt. For another woman to stand there totally impassive while this THING killed a fellow woman is treacherous. That poor victim probably thought she was safe when she saw Ellingson in the car and she was betrayed in the worst way possible.

i too have recovered from addiction, and i do agree with you that i am just a statistic. i have known addicts that would behave like Lynn, but i also knew far more that would not. even though i know i cannot speak for them, i can speak for myself. i would never sacrifice human life for my addiction. although it controlled a lot of aspects of my life, it did not blur what was right and wrong. i know a lot of people hold addicts to be the bottomfeeders of life, but so many are intelligent, good people.

as a former heroin addict who would use over $300 worth of drugs in two days, i would NEVER EVER EVER not go to the police because of my problem. and to most, heroin is worse for you than cocaine and has a lot more withdrawal and stronger, longer highs. if i saw what she did i would drop everything and get help, even if it meant doing jail time because of my lifesyle or suffering other consequences.

I just cannot reconcile that he let this twat live without there being much more to her involvement. Pickton should be given a medal for disposing of all that human garbage. The “victims” were uneducated, ill-adjusted ne’er-do-wells whose lives revolved around selling their bodies and dignity, spreading disease, poisoning themselves with controlled substances, committing various other crimes, and dragging down the entire city they lived in.
He slaughtered and dressed them like hogs, which was entirely appropriate, because that’s exactly what they were. They were worse than useless; police dogs contribute far more to society, when all’s said and done, than they did. They primarily harmed their fellow man, while contributing nothing.
They were filthy pests, pure and simple. That they were also human beings is completely beside the point.
Pickton himself is human trash, too, of course, but at least he did the rest of the world a commendable service — far more than I can say for his “victims.”

Most historians believe the cases of Bathory and Gilles de Rais were wildly sensationalized, and that many of the stories associated with them are not true….including their number of victims. Many think De Rais was just used as a scapegoat by the government and the Catholic Church. It’s just too difficult to determine what was true in those cases since they happened so long ago.. Ugh…your tone is simply annoying. Perhaps it isn’t intentional, but instead of questioning why someone isn’t listed how about you go about the tedious task of writing the story yourself. – Gee, there’s a thought, huh ?
Also, many “historians” deny the holocaust, and in your response to this – if there is one – I’d like you to list the “historians” who believe the cases of Bathory and De Rais were “sensationalized”.
People often tend to jump to conclusions about a person’s tone when there is only text and no voice, so I will not be offended by that. That statement was meant to express my disgust at Lopez’s actions and the fact that he is a lot worse than many I’ve seen on this site. I was not implying that one of you should write the story because I’m too lazy to do so.
Also, I am not saying that De Rais and Bathory did not committ crimes..even murders. I’m just saying that a lot of the particularly gruesome stories about them came from witnesses that may not have been very credible. There is a mountain of physical evidence and eye-witness reports that prove the Holocaust.. apples and oranges.. ALL of the stories about De Rais and Bathory could actually be true (but I really hope they aren’t…that type of suffering is just unimaginable), but since this all occured in an age when forensic science was more or less throwing a girl into a pond to see if she’s a witch, there isn’t a lot of concrete proof. That’s all.

I know way too much about those guys- and some gals as well….serial killers, I mean. Spent a great deal of my teenage years reading all about them. From Albert Fish to Gacy, Gein ; though, Gein wasn’t really a “serial killer”, Kemper, you name the killer and I probably know more than a normal person would. :)
That probably accounts for the nightmares I have sometimes about having to have to dispose of a body. – Thank goodness those nightmares are rare, and are in fact only nightmares.
I know exactly what you mean Maelstrom. I have books and encyclopedia’s on serial killers and pay very close attention. I was in the police station reporting a traffic accident a couple of months ago and there was a big poster of BC’s missing women. I recognized a couple of the girls right away but couldn’t quite put my finger on it. Then it occured to me who they were. I told the lady at the front desk that they needed to replace this poster with an updated one because there were at least 6 of Pickton’s victims on it. My husband shook his head at me but I believe these woman need to be seen and they’re stories heard.

I think Harold Schechter is an incredible writer, and I also read the books he wrote on Albert Fish and Ed Gein. I’ve got at least 20 or so books written on serial killers.
It was never some weird sick obsession that I had with them…but rather I think the adult version of the monster hiding under the bed type of thing. And it’s fascinating as all hell. How some of these men can function in normal society and then turn out to be thee most depraved creatures you can imagine.
Just fascinates the hell out of me. And it’s profoundly comforting to know that I am not the only one. :)
I agree, it’s the real boogyman stories that fascinate me as well. Some people get their rush from sky diving or roller coasters, I get mine from trying to understand the human mind. And it’s interesting that you should say adult form of the boogeyman…. Have you read the original Grimm’s Fairy Tales? I have the collection at home and it’s so clear how a lot of superstition and fear is given credit to “monsters” When in reality these monsters were most likely serial killers. I mean you look at stories like Jekyl & Hyde, the Wolfman… Even Dracula and you can find or come up with a reasonalble theory on how these “creatures” would have been a sociopath.
My fascination all began with an old boyfriend getting put in jail for life, for murdering an 8 year old girl. Blew my mind. Didn’t see it coming, so I started reading up on serial killers and sneaking into psychology classes at the U of S. Albert Fish was one of my first reads, and I still go back to that story here and there. I mean wow right. I have the a lot of the movies too but they aren’t the same.
Another fascination of mine is old mental asylums and sanctuaries. I know, weird. :-)
I’ve been reading about this subject for about 5 years or so, but honestly I have to take breaks from it because sometimes it really gets me down. I read a book called “I: The Creation of a Serial Killer” about Keith Hunter Jesperson, and it’s really disturbing because there are a lot of first-person accounts of the crimes.
Oh and Mandie I have the Grimm Fairy Tales, too. Let me just say… I had to edit a few of those stories for my 4-yr-old niece lol… Especially the part in Cinderella at the end where they make the stepsisters follow the wedding carriage while their eyes are pecked out by birds!
My mom worked in Dorothea Dix mental hospital here in NC for a year or two. A paralyzed former gang member was in love with her and she had to quit because things got a little too creepy.
Wow thats pretty crazy! I would love to actually take a tour in an old empty asylum. Just to see the old equipment and feel the energy. It’s truly disturbing how some of the doctors were more mad than the patients. And the conditions in which they lived. Here in Saskatchewan there are some pretty massive old mental hospitals. Some friends and I are going to take a tour in the summer and take in a piece of history before they are torn down.
How about the Rumpelstiltskin Story. When she guesses his name he rips all of his limbs off. LOL! I was shocked when I first read them. And how some of these disturbing stories became disney movies.
Hansel and Gretel…errrr….yeah, some evil old hag who wants to kidnap and cook children. Jesus God man, how fucked up is that ? Not one that I want to be reading to my two little boys, that’s for sure.

I always knew I was a little off when other girls in high school were reading fashion magazines and having sex….I was the massive dork listening to the Cure reading about serial killers. * sigh *
AHH Maelstrom. haha. I so know exactly what you mean. And yes, an overnight stay. I would so do it, but I can’t find anyone who would do it with me and like hell would I go alone! I too am atheist but the paranormal is so fascinating. LOL I bet our book collections are quite similar. I have a library full of True Crime, Paranormal literature, John Saul, Stephen King and of course Zombie books. :-)
Well, if they ever shut down Dorothea Dix hospital here in Raleigh, that would be an interesting one to spend the night in. They were going to shut it down a couple of years ago, but have decided not to. Either way, I’m sure the building would be saved because it’s a historical landmark that’s been here since 1849. What surprised me is the that the grounds are just beautiful – rolling green hills and giant old oak trees.. I only live about 10 minutes from it, so if it’s ever closed, head to Raleigh and we’ll go ‘ghost-huntin’.

There’s an old hospital in North Battleford, Saskatchewan and I am always taking away by its beauty. It’s so massive! Designed to be self sustaining. So many people are creeped out by it but I am just fascinated with it. I would give anything to be able to roam the halls. Without being locked up as a patient though :-)

Oh Cleo…PLEASE DO. I absolutely LOVE hearing about that stuff, and have a few ‘encounters” of my own, which I would love to share as well.
My very strong belief in ghosts is the one thing that makes me unsure about my atheism….very unsure. It is a very weird paradox – though I am not, nor have I ever been 100% sure that there is no “God”. Who knows really ?
When I had a lot of free time I would spend hours on those ghost cams on-line…the live ones, and read about the supernatural every chance I get. Absolutely fascinating.

I have a really close friend who was addicted to heroine, and she did a ton of aweful things she wouldnt normally do. Stole from friends and family, jewelry, cds/dvds, and 200 bucks from me. And the $ she stole from me was for christmas for my son, who was 2 at the time. And she knew that. That is the “terrible” things she did to get her fix.
That is what hard drugs do. If she had seen someone being hung like a pig and skinned, she would have called 911, or done something.
My point is, drugs do changepeople into ass faced jerks, but it doesnt turn someone into a soulless piece of scum who has no right living with the rest of us… hang her like a pig and see how she feels then, or, we can all hope she gets a bag of bad coke and dies…thats a nice thought now isnt it

I just watched a show called “Pig Farm” on Investigation Discovery. Can we nominate Dinah Taylor and Lisa Yelds for a toasty place in Hell, too? Dinah Taylor basically supplied women from area shelters, for Willie. Lisa Yelds knew something was up on the farm and when another person went to the police, she denied everything. She even stated on camera that she hated cops.
In the Trojan men and womens shelter is a cafeteria. A man there that has chocokate brown hair and was role playing wearing a FBI cap and he told me he has fake identification and showed me his two picture ID. One ID was with his photo and the name Richard Pickman and the other photo was him as a female impersonator nmaed Diane Taylor. He said he is a stripper in a bar and he said his favorite color is pink. He was stalking people and had a vehicle outside and was asking a female named Diane Taylor to go for a ride with him to his apartment. Reiner Rother that was a Canadian immigration lawyer said he goes around the streets looking for homeless persons to coerce them to go into a apartment on Davis Street and he and his friend tries to get homeless persons to be strippers or be prostitutes. the man with fake identification was pretending his name is Diane Taylor and Richard Pickman when he was stalking a reddish blonde haired woman named Diane Taylor that was driving a small red car that had been a car a man who uses two names was driving in the year 2000. He is a friend of Reiner rothe and his friend lived on Davis Street
I went to school with Lynn. She was kind of a “bad” girl when we were 12, but attractive. She hung out with the rockers in high school and got pregnant before graduating too. Weird how life goes sometimes. I remember hanging out with her at lunchtime when I was in Grade 7. She was nice to me.
