Jason Foreman was like any other 5 year old boy. He loved playing with his brothers and friends in his South Kingston, RI neighborhood because up until the day he went missing it was considered a safe neighborhood.
On May 18, 1978 which was his mothers 25th birthday he was outside playing with his friends and brother when they got into a fight. Like any 5 year old he decided to go home because he was upset. Unfortunately, for him his journey home lead him to walk past Michael Woodmansee’s front yard. The 16-year-old loner was sitting on his front stoop when he called little Jason inside his home.
The exact details of Jason’s last moments are pretty clear. The monster decided to stab Jason with a kitchen knife because as he stated at his court appearance he wanted to see what it felt like to kill someone. …because as we know here at PYSIH that seems to be a normal feeling that is explored…not…after he murdered Jason he put his body in a plastic bag and left him in a trunk in his cellar for four to five years.
The victim’s father has mentioned that his son was sexually abused and that this monster ate his son’s 
flesh…but I am jumping ahead of myself and I will get back to that in a minute!
Jason’s disappearance is one of the most infamous crimes in RI history. People from all over the state came together and searched every section of his small, close knit neighborhood. They searched every house on his block, except the murderer’s because his father was a police reservist so he was ordered to search his own home…someone is kicking themselves today for that decision….
There was no sign of Jason or any clues as to what happened for 7 years. His mother never gave up hope that her son was out there and stated she would not believe he was dead until she had evidence pointing to that direction.
Michael Woodmansee thought he had gotten away with murder. He was comfortable that no one would find out about the bag of bones that he now kept in his room so his family would not find them in the basement. So comfortable that on April 15th, 1982 he lured a 14 year-old newspaper delivery boy into his home where he proceeded to get him drunk to the point that he passed out.
That boy had an angel watching over him that little Jason did not because he woke up with Woodmansee on top of him strangling him. He was able to break free and ran home to tell his father 
about what happened. His father went to the Woodmansee home and confronted this beast and ultimately ended up punching him (go dad!).
Michael Woodmansee called the police and told them about the fight and all the parties were asked to come to the station to work it out. Once the victim explained what happened a light bulb went off and decided to question him about little Jason’s disappearance.
After some interrogation Michael Woodmansee confessed to the murder of Jason Freeman 7 years earlier. He told the officers where they would find his bones and that there was also a journal detailing what happened but that most of it was fiction….like we believe that right??
They found Jason’s skull on his dresser and the remainder of most of his bones in a bag and also the infamous journal that would leave Jason’s father with nightmares that will last the rest of his life. The Providence Journal described the state of Jason’s bones as:
“The most striking aspect of the bones, the doctor said, was that all traces of flesh appeared to have been purposely removed. To be crude, said Dr. Arthur C. Burns, it’s a matter of boiling them with lye, a weak lye-type solution and soap.The mixture, he said dissolves the tissue and allows it to be taken off the bones very cleanly. The bones had also been shellacked.”
Jason’s father has said that the journal had mentioned that Woodmansee had cannibalized his son’s flesh. You have that right people he ate this little boy… Hannibal Lector much?
Jason’s family was able to finally have the peace of mind because they were able to bury their baby. The truth ended up opening a whole new can of worms for them and the town as a whole who had hoped he would return home safely.
They decided to not have a trial because they did not want all of the gory details about their sons brutal sexual assault and murder dragged out so Michael Woodmansee’s attorney ended up accepting a plea bargain of 40 years…that infuriates me because I have a 3 year old son and I would want the murder of my child to be found guilty of this horrible crime and serve the maximum number of years possible!
Fast forward to 2011, looks like Mr. Woodmansee has behaved very well behind bars and he has shaved off 12 years of his sentence. He is due to be released in August of this year. Jason did not get 12 more years of his life and this monster should not be let out any earlier then he deserves to be.
Jason’s father has gone on the record stating he will murder this man if he is released just as aggressively as he murdered his baby:
“I do intend, if this man is released anywhere in my vicinity, or if I can find him after the fact, I do intend to kill this man”
John Foreman is pleading to have the journal released to the public so everyone can see what this maniac did to his son before and after his death. This story has been featured on Nancy Grace and is gaining media attention nationwide.
It is a sad day to live in a country where these murderers can scrub some toilets and not get into any fights and be released more than a decade earlier then their sentence.

I am so sick and tired of reading about stupid parole officers and judges and jurors who seem to think that sex offenders and murderous paedos can be “rehabilitated”- today, in SA, the big news is that of a 33 year old rugby player who was arrested for hacking a couple of guys to death with an axe. You’re thinking- sheesh! That’s hectic- but wait- these guys GANG RAPED his daughter (he’s 33, same as my husband, our daughter is 3- so you do the averaging, either way, she’s a tiny little person, because they won’t even name the rugby player in the news to protect her identity!) and now she is, surprise, surprise, INFECTED WITH HIV!!!! Somewhere along the line, this amazing father snapped and realised that THE SYSTEM DOES NOT FAVOUR THE VICTIM and that THESE FUCKERS will get out on some pathetic excuse of a presidential pardon or some BS (we’re big on the “Presidential Pardon” crap down here)- I say, give him a fucking medal! If the system cannot do what needs to be done, leave it to the people.

I looked up the story you are talking about …so apparently he killed 3 and attacked a fourth one who got away. The fourth one TOLD the news paper the guy came up to him and said something like “I bet you never thought we would meet you raped my daughter” and the guy says “WHO IS YOUR DAUGHTER?” uhm, now maybe it’s just me but it I was accused of being a rapist I would probably be saying “I didn’t rape nobody!” haha. I just think it’s a bit odd that’s what he said, and also if they did rape this girl…they are sick!

I think I read about that one. It turned out that the guy lied. He didn’t even have a daughter and he had mental issues. I tried to find the article but my computer is slow. He hacked those guys and they were innocent!
Turns out the Rugby player was mentally ill and did not kill his daughter’s rapists. I’m unclear if he actually even had a daughter or if he knew the men he killed, but police reported that there was no rape investigation.

Thank you for posting this story! I really appreciate it and have read this site for years…this case touched home and infuriated me…there has been a bill to prevent criminals convicted of murder, rape, or child pornography cases to not be able to be released earlier then their sentence states. It is too little too late though because he is going to be released this summer and there is no way to stop it….

This POS was 16 when he killed this precious little boy! Imagine what he can do now. Its a crime in its self to allow this flesh eating monster back on the streets, no matter what state. Do you really think it matters what state he’s release to. He will strike again no matter where he is. God be with Mr. Freeman, and if he does carry out his threats (which I don’t blame it one damn bit) have mercy on his soul!
If Freeman actually does it, I think the judge should expedite a quick plea and sentence him to Time Served. Clearly this grieving father is NOT a danger to society at large, while the cannibal pedophile they are getting ready to dump out into somebody’s neighborhood CANNOT BE TRUSTED ANYWHERE.

The way I look at it is this: If someone raped, murdered and consumed my child’s body, I’d already be sentenced to life in a “prison” because I’d never be able to escape the horror, the anger, the sadness.

I signed the petition. There is no way I could NOT sign it. If this creep is allowed to walk out of prison, a target (for his back) should be standard issue on his release. SOMEONE will take him out. It’s just a matter of time. The details in this case are sickening, to say the least. He cannot and will not ever be rehabilitated. Whoever allows his release will have blood on their hands b/c he will do it again. He’s proven it. I don’t understand why the chance would ever be taken.

This was a very Jeffrey Dahmer-esque murder – younger boys, sexually assaulted, cannibalized, and the bones preserved for the murdered to keep as some kind of trophy.
Thank God they caught this guy before he had a chance to kill more people- after all, he was fascinated by it like Dahmer – but I think it’s kind of a shame that they didn’t take it to trial. Dahmer got multiple life sentences and I’m sure this kid could have too.

Michael Woodmansee was released from prison today. He is now serving 21 years probation and is in-patient at Elenor Slater psych hospital, a state-run institution and my tax dollars are probably paying for this monster’s rehab. No word on whether or not he’ll serve all years of his probation there, but likely not. He does not yet have a probation officer as he’s in-patient and not yet in the community. The state attorny general tried, unsuccessfuly, to change the good behavior laws in RI to keep this man in jail.
Infuriating. I am a life-long Rhode Islander who grew up in South Kingstown. I always thought this was an urban legend – the “Schaeffer Street Cannibal” – until I found out it was real a few years ago.
Just as a little UPDATE this monster voluntarily committed itself to our (I’m from RI) Eleanor Slater mental institute, which is by all accounts a dort on hell on Earth. He was transferred at the end of August of this year. For the record I attended rallies to keep this thing locked away, the public outcry was that of Craig Price. Another RI winner. He will never see the light of day again.
