I read a statistic yesterday, a very upsetting and horrible statistic. Every 17 minutes a woman in Canada is raped. That just boggles my itty bitty female mind, it truly does, so I just had to do the math. OMG, that awful statistic translates into 30,917 rapes per year. That is 30,917 times Canadian women are violently attacked and sexually violated every year.
As bad as that number is that is not the worst statistic. It is far worse that nearly 94% of these rapes are not even reported to police. That’s right, 94% of victims even after they’ve been overpowered, threatened, probably beaten and then forcefully penetrated by some loathsome hellbeast refuse to step into the arena of the criminal and justice system in Canada.

When I was 29 years old, I was a single mom to two rambunctious, misbehaved, humorous, silly boys. My ex husband left for prison when I was two months pregnant with my youngest to serve a ten year sentence for involuntary manslaughter.
To say I had struggles would be putting it lightly. To say I was depressed, hopeless, and feeling completely undeserving of the two little souls I was given to nurture and teach to become men would be a complete gloss over. But, as much of a douche bag as my ex husband was, he never raised a hand to me, beat me, or raped me. Unfortunately, Rachel Susan Miller was not so lucky.

I have always been an animal lover. I have always had a pet for as long as I can remember. At the moment I have 3 cats, 2 rats and a dog (and a partridge and a pear tree lol).
Now everyone I tell this to asks me why I would ever get a rat as a pet and I tell them how I was at the pet store getting cat food and was looking at the small animals when I heard a man, who was buying a large reptile cage, talking to an employee of the store about the feeder rodents they have.

Schadenfreude is an old word. Schadenfreude refers to the pleasure that a person enjoys from the misfortune, pain and/or suffering of others. It is a uniquely German word as only the Teutonic people created a term for this perverse sensation, and no other language has an equivalent.
The asshole in this story had been gathering pictures of pain, motivated solely by his intense enjoyment of the pain and suffering he was creating for a helpless infant.
Born August 7, 2008, Charlie Victor Rossi Hunt was a beautiful little four-month-old infant who ended up living with his mother after his parents split up in December of 2008.
Charlie’s parents, Richard Hunt and Laura Chapman, had a very volatile relationship and there was a bit of an age gap that may have added to the collapse of their marriage.

GRAND JURY HANDS UP 15 COUNT INDICTMENT AGAINST ROOMMATE OF TYLER CLEMENTI.
from the article by Kelly Heyboer and Tom Haydon – The Star-Ledger (NJ)
In the days after Rutgers University freshman Tyler Clementi committed suicide, his roommate tried to cover up his alleged role in using a webcam to secretly watch Clementi in an intimate encounter with another man, prosecutors said today.
Dharun Ravi, 19, misled investigators by deleting text messages from his phone and changing an incriminating post about the webcam on his Twitter account, Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce Kaplan said. The teenager also allegedly tried to convince friends not to testify against him.

On September 7, 2010, a Utah mother learned why it is a horrible idea to leave a young child unattended in a public place.
The woman, who has not been identified, was shopping at a Desert Industries thrift store in Sandy with a friend and her then 4-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son. She decided to let her daughter play in the toy aisle while she browsed the shoe aisle just a few feet away. When she came back minutes later, her child was gone. She was living every mother’s worst nightmare.
She anxiously searched the store, and even got the staff to page her daughter on the loudspeaker. Finally, she knocked on the door of the men’s restroom and heard her daughter yelling for her. The woman told her daughter to open the locked door. “I can’t,” she replied. Why couldn’t she? Because 42-year-old Richard Chad Randall was on top of her, attempting to rape her.

MOTHER GETS LIFE WITHOUT PAROLE FOR KILLING 13-MONTH-OLD DAUGHTER
from the article by Kelly Gooch – TylerPaper.com
The jury foreman in a capital murder trial involving the brutal beating death of a 13-month-old described the experience as “the worst two weeks of my life.”
“I didn’t think anything like this could happen to a child,” foreman Pat Beets said, adding that it was hard for jurors to talk about the case.
After less than two hours of deliberation, the jury on Wednesday found Jesseca Carson guilty in the sexual assault and beating death of her daughter, Amora.
