  • The Max Who’s A Cat Is Back

In spite of my best attempts to eat, smoke and otherwise put myself six feet under, I find myself still alive and well, even though, as the song goes, “Every now and then, you know it’s kind of hard to tell.”

To keep it short, back on Labor Day of last year I found myself with a bad case of pneumonia. I ended up passing out, and on the ambulance ride to the hospital, my heart stopped (Again? This is getting very old). Fortunately, the Docs managed to get it going again, but I was out for long enough to cause some brain damage.

I was lucky. In spite of a period of no oxygen to my brain, I still know who I am, can still see, speak and hear, and still possess most of my memory. Unfortunately, what I did lose was most of my computer skills. In fact, it was just this week that I managed to restore my system (it crashed and burned too). I also lost most of my passwords, including the one for this website. In addition, I still can’t remember much about how I ran this website.

I won’t bore you all with a long, drawn out tale of woe. I will tell you that I’ve lost nearly 100 pounds & have quit smoking. But the memory loss is VERY frustrating – It’s like I’m starting all over again. I’m better than I was six months ago, but it’s going to be a long road to where I was, if I ever get there at all.

So have some patience with me, and don’t hesitate to point out the multitude of fuck ups that I’ll inevitably make. I’m truly grateful to admin for giving me a shot at this, and I’ll need all the help I can get to not let him and you guys down.

Any of my old running buddies out there can contact me at editorpysih@comcast.net.

I haven.t had the pleasure of knowing you max but started coming to this site about 2 months ago and love it. I’ve read a lot about you and i learned thru cleo at hellbeast’s that you’d had a bad heart attack. Wanna say glad your back and can.t wait to get stuck into some of those excellent articles you write. Just take it easy and i’ll excuse your fuck ups if you excuse my bad grammar.

Welcome back :) Memory loss is a bitch, but hopefully you will learn even more the next time around!

Glad to see that you’re back and were able to relearn things. I had an accident 10 years ago and still don’t remember what happened. Stupid brain…

Thoughts and prayers for your continued recovery!

Max! I’m glad you’re back, a lot of people have had you in their thoughts over your recovery. Take it one day at a time, and even though this site is awesome, your health and home life comes first :)

    12. Jenslore says:

Glad to have you back! I read the website any time I have a slow day at work (and even sometimes when I actually have work I should be doing, let’s be honest). I’m very, very grateful for it and as I’ve recently started to near the end of all of the posts (as I said, I have more free time than I should at work), I was quite worried the site might have been dead as the posts have slowed to a drizzle.

After hearing your story, the lag is more than understandable. It says a lot of your committment to exposing these lowlifes that you would even bother trying to come back to work on the site.

Everyone who counts for a damned thing will be thrilled to have you back in any capacity. And the ones who aren’t happy to have you back? Well, they’re probably gonna end up on the site in another capacity anyway :P.

Here’s hoping for a full recovery and the best of health for you in the future.

Have missed all the heated debates and thought provoking convo’s in the comments!

    15. diekatze says:

Yay! I am so glad you are doing better, Max.

There are two stories I have been wanting to do. However, I started having a few medical issues (bad headaches since February. Neurologist put me on Topamax and it turned out I had to be one of those people who have nasty side effects.) , and the fact that my twins were the same age as the victim in one didn’t help. I put the pot on the back burner.

Then I got “weened off” the Topamax (since you can’t just stop it suddenly) and started feeling better. My twins turned 3. I’m still in pain, but its better than the awful side effects. Now I see that you are better and back to editing. Maybe this is a little nudge telling me to start working on one of the stories again.

      Hi Max

My cat Shadow was killed on the road outside my house yesterday infront of my children, the driver was a young man and he was with his friends. They didnt even stop they laughed. Shadow was part of our family we are devastated. Can I nominate them for a trip to hell please.

      Tia :(

    23. KHR says:

      Yay, Max is back!
I’m glad to hear you’re on the road to recovery. Looking forward to seeing you around the site. I quit for a while, when nothing was getting updated and the comments were either trolls or repetitions, but I’m returning with you!

    24. Karrie says:

Mine was a stroke, I was 47 whats that about. Nearly two years now and life is just starting to feel normal in a much slower sense of the word. Glad your back, keep excercizing the brain. They told me one year that i had to teally work on my brain functionability before the brain stops recovering, but the last 6 months I’ve regained even more so don’t give up…..

    25. Brittani says:

I haven’t written a word in the form of a story or article or otherwise structured-anythings since I wrote my story for this site, Max. The writing bug left me. Maybe now that you’re back, I’ll get back into my swing. Good to hear from you!

    31. Homer says:

This is the best news I’ve seen in a long fucking time. To quote the legendary masters of steel, Anvil: FUKEN’ EH!!!!!!

Seriously, though, it’s really good to see you back, Max. You were sorely missed, and never far from our thoughts.

And I’d once again like to take the opportunity to thank Cleo and Jason, for picking up the reins while you were incapacitated. And mention that I feel like a turd, as I promised Cleo to cobble up a story about that icon of norwegian patriotism, Anders Behring Breivik. It’s the oldest excuse in the world, but I’m still working on it. There’s just been so much shit going on, especially at work, that it’s been hard to find the combination of time and energy. But I’ll get there.

In the meantime, you keep on getting back to speed.

      Welcome back. :-)

    32. psychodollbaby says:

I didn’t even know what was going on. I’m so glad you are ok max. I hope things get better with the memory. We need you to lay some verbal smackdown and put people in their places. I’ve missed you. Now that I know what was going on I’ll send some positive thoughts your way. Keep getting better and let’s get some more baddies!

    33. Smilee says:

Welcome back! Great to see you’re on the mend. My best friend was resusatated (sp?), and suffered brain damage. She never regained consciousness though, and died after a couple months. So, you’re very lucky. You’re meant to be here, and I’m glad to see you’re back, for my own selfish reasons, like the theraputic effect of pysh. Thanks for that, btw.
      Take care.

    34. Fred says:

Max – glad to see that, like the cat you are, have more than 1 life.
You and the people on this site have helped me deal with one of my more painful memories of my life and I wish to say thank you.
I hope that by publishing my story, WE, you who edited and published it, those who commented and I have and will continue to help others, though we may never know who and how.
I have a few more personnel stories to add, but there is some additional research I need to do and waiting for more answers…..

I am again reading “No More Christian Nice Guy” and I learning more about the true Jesus and my hate is growing more and more for those who gave me a false example to follow ….. I was taught that avoiding conflict and sacrifice was the right thing and all I have done at this point is live a life which is by no means the life that was intended for me, despite the many mistakes I have made.

I will say that all an attorney should be used for is legal knowledge, as an advocate most of them are useless and should be treated as janitors to clean up the mess that one makes advocating for themselves.

One of the last times I was in court, I was very upset at the way my attorney was NOT standing up for me and I took control of the meeting……. As I look back at additional paperwork I see that my attorney failed me more than I ever thought.

If I do not get to see my daughter next week, I am going to be getting court transcripts and doing research on my next batch of stories…… I will be hurting, but the healing must begin somewhere and I hope that somewhere along the line others will be helped as well.

If I do get my daughter, the stories are going onto the back burner, but will still come out because they need to.

    35. Tiffany says:

Hey Max, I’ve asked about you several times to your daughter, Cleo and Jason. I am sooooo glad to see you back. I tried to help out with pysih.com but couldn’t grasp the whole lay out. I did submit a few stories while you were away though.

WELCOME BACK I’VE MISSED YA BUD!!!!

    36. Maribeth says:

Max, so glad to ‘see’ you back in action. Sorry for your troubles….sounds like you have been to hell and back. Best wishes for a successful recovery, which will hopefully include regaining more of your memory.

    37. Snackcakes says:

Glad you’re back Max. Ya know cats are supposed to have 9 lives. And they remember things when they need to (like who has the food, and where the toys are) Things’ll come back to you in time, and what doesn’t maybe u can learn something new.

      Best wishes, Meg

    38. Linda says:

      Dear Max,

It’s so good to hear something from you! I can imagine that it’s all very frustrating. I will happily stick around and wait for stories. I hope your recovery continues to be succesful, and you regain some of your memory.

      All the best,
      Linda

    39. TakuroSpirit says:

Glad you’re back. I really enjoy this site, though considering the content that sounds kind of off. I once lost 100lbs as well but after my babies I’m back up a good 80 pounds. I wish you as much of a recovery as possible.

    40. deborah says:

Hey Max welcome home! Keep the stories coming!

    41. Anne says:

Welcome back – it is great to have you back!!!

    42. Kris Karnage says:

I like a man who let’s me finish his sentences (in this case because you can’t remember what the fuck you were talking about :-P) Glad to see you back!

Keep up with the therapy, ignore the insensitive people who like to say things like “youve already said that”. When you get frustrated because you cant remember things just remember how much more awesome you are than the rest of us, we only get to see, do, and learn thing for the first time once… Damn good for you giving up smoking. Your ticker thanks you! maybe someday I will be able to give it up too?

Now pit some stories up and message me if you need any editing help, my own writing skills suck but, I have a keen eye for finding every editorial mistake in what I read, go figure.

Glad to ‘see’ you again Max! Wishing you much health and happiness in your future!

    44. kraziehorse says:

Welcome back, Max. Sorry to hear of your terrible ordeal but glad God knew you weren’t finished here yet. Good luck on the road to recovering your memory, and you definitely don’t need to worry about fuck ups. You are more than entitled and excused!! Best wishes!

      Welcome Back!
I am glad to see that you have chosen to continue with this site. Hopefully the actions of writing, researching and editing will further your recovery. I applaud your honesty and can only hope that those visiting the site will offer some patience while you regain your feet. As for the memory loss and giving you a hard time if we’ve heard something before? I will not even get in line. I couldn’t begin to write and edit 1/4 as well as you and some others do on here, and would never degrade someone for something that I can’t do. Again, WELCOME BACK!!!!

    46. mulch says:

Dude what can be said? Yer alive. Naked happy dances with crisco, whiskey and many rubber ducks will be had.

      We love you Max.

    48. BlueGhost1 says:

This place was never the same since you have been gone. We missed you but Cleo was great in your absence. I only wish your health would improve. Without it there is nothing. God bless you and my prayers are with you. BLUE

    49. The Bosses Secretary says:

Look on the bright side. It’s damn near impossible to lose 100 lbs, no matter how hard you try! Good for you! I didn’t have a heart attack and my short and long term memory both suck! So hang in there, Max. The older everyone gets, the more they resemble each other. We’ll all grow demented and decrepit together.

    55. Lady J says:

Its such a fuzzy feeling you get when a true Gentlemen returns to the haven he has helped build for us all. I can’t wait to hear him kickin ass and telling it how it is again! YIPPEE! HIP HIP HOORAY!

    56. LilMissSunshine says:

Welcome back Max! This site wasn’t the same without you… So happy to hear you’re doing better. It’s a process, but you’ll get there.

    57. AThingCalledCat says:

Max, I am so glad you’ve come out of this alive. Thank you for holding on, for working through the awful times. I wish you the best of recoveries, & send many hugs your way. I wish I had just the right words to express how glad I am that you’re still with us, but my brain is failing me due to the sheer joy I feel reading that you are here, with us. Don’t fret about anything you can’t help, it takes so much energy away from all the other things I know you are working so hard on as you recover. My warmest thoughts, & best regards, from one cat to another :)

Hope you are getting stronger every day!

    59. Bobster says:

      Dear Max,

This long-time lurker is SO happy to hear you’re on your feet again! I know there’s been a big effort made to keep this site up and running, but without you, the soul was missing. Take care of yourself in the first place, we can wait a (little) bit longer to enjoy your awesome writeups. Great news!!!

    60. AB says:

      Hey Max:

Glad you are better. I wonder if they have given you a fluoroquinolone antibiotic from the pneumonia. This family includes: levaquin, cipro and avelox. They are toxic antibiotics and can cause heart problems, memory issues and musculo-skeletal problems. You can google their adverse effects.

    61. God says:

I sent you these plagues so you would change your ways. I gave you a second chance. Take the site down. There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you – who are you to judge your neighbor?

OMFG! It’s really God? I have so many questions! Mainly about the parts of the Bible that contradict the other parts, and which parts we’re supposed to be following because I’ve gotten some conflicting reports and I want to be doing stuff right.
I would have thought you would be busy with things like the massacres in Syria or Afghanistan, or even trying to deal with the politicians all evoking your name in different directions, but you’re taking the time to smite the people running this website. I guess even the Almighty has to have their priorities. Still, could you do something about Fred Phelps?

    62. subliminalninja says:

Hi Max! So glad you are getting better- I have missed you and the blog so much. I know you are still in the process of healing up, I’m just glad you are back. Good Luck- and again, really glad your feeling better!!

I had a stroke last May & have been re-adjusting to a different mental playing field as well. I hope you can enjoy the new ride with a minimum of frustration.

      Good luck and best wishes.

    64. AMuse says:

Welcome back to life. I get the whole memory thing. I haven’t been able to work since I suffered brain damage from ECT. (They tell me I didn’t, so I must have damaged it falling off my pillow or bumping into a fairy around the same time I had ECT. According to the Drs ECT does not cause memory loss or brain damage.) Life is frustrating sometimes but it beats the alternative. I know I’m a bit late but I was thinking about you and came by and was thrilled to see your post. Look after yourself. You don’t want to see all these fuckers in hell just yet.

    65. Leachlanceleach says:

So….I thought this page was back? Other then a few people commenting this place is pretty dead.

    66. Linda says:

Max, could you perhaps post an update about your recovery? I didn’t expect this page to be up and running by now but I am just curious on how you’ve been and if there’s any change in your progress.

All the best and happy holidays!
