When members of the Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue responded to a call of a baby in distress at a home in Marlene Village, Oregon, they were ready for any problem involving a young child. Nothing is every routine when it involves small children, but I’m sure no one expected for the situation to end up developing the way it did on Saturday afternoon, June 6th, 2009.

Perhaps if they’d had a chance to see this picture of Korena Elaine Roberts they might have been a little more suspicious.

This story is a little personal, if only because it happened in my home town of Middletown, CT.

With the Lori Drew deal in the news so much, and parental responsibility being such a hot topic of conversation now-a-days, you would think just about every parent would be more conscience of their child’s, and especially their own, behavior. And you’d be right–just about.

Middletown is a nice, quiet city of about 45,000 people located on the Connecticut River a little south of Hartford. Our biggest claims to fame are Wesleyan University, the most expensive institute of higher learning in the United States, the Arrigoni Bridge, which spans the Connecticut River, and Joey Lagano, the rookie NASCAR and Nationwide Series driver.  Read more... Getting dumped is something nobody likes to experience. For some, it’s because they believe this person was “the one.”

For others, it’s because they find out the person they thought they knew was just a creep.

The third category however is more ominous. It’s composed of people who believe they are god’s gift to earth and no matter how cheating or abuse they put their significant other through, that significant other had better not leave them or else.

This charming newlywed is 23-year-old Phiengchai Sisouvanh Synhavong.

Married in May of 2008, Phiengchai Synhavong is a plus-size Laotian woman who is awfully handy with a knife.

Despite what she told her family members, and despite her rather rotund physique, Phiengchai Synhavong was not pregnant, although she had…plans…to…acquire….a baby.

On the 27th of June, 2008, the plan of Phiengchai Synhavong came together, much like the plans of that elite military group known as The A-Team, but with a lot more blood.

After enticing an acquaintance, 27-year-old Araceli Camacho Gomez, into her white 4×4 with the promise of some baby clothes, Phiengchai Synhavong somehow managed to overpower the 9-month-pregnant mother of two – which is not entirely surprising considering how vulnerable extremely pregnant women are.  Read more... An interesting trivia bit: Father’s Day in Australia isn’t in June, as it is in the United States. It’s in September.

38-year-old Robert Farquharson’s kids, 10-year-old Jai, 7-year-old Tyler and 2-year-old Bailey had been visiting with their dad over Father’s Day.

In Australia.

Robert had divorced his wife, Cindy Gambino, in 2004 after four years of marriage and 14 years of being together.

He was still a little bitter about it. His wife got the good car, and he got the 1989 VN Commodore.

It’s always good to be given a second chance.

Harrel Franklin Braddy was convicted of trying to kill someone back in the 80’s.

Due to good behavior, Braddy served 13 years of his 30-year sentence.

When he got out, he was good for a while. He did everything he was supposed to do.

He got a job.

He went to church functions.

At one of them he met 22-year-old Shandelle Maycock and her 5-year-old daughter Quatisha Maycock. They hit it off.

Shandelle invited Harrel Braddy to her house after the social, not knowing his history, just seeing him as a friendly, churchgoing guy.
