Teachers are supposed to help your children grow and develop their learning skills and hone in on their talents and social skills. Not 61-year-old Third grade teacher Mark Berndt. His thirty-year experience at Miramonte Elementary School gave new meaning the word experience.

When I sent my only child to kindergarten on what was going to be the glorious first day, I followed the bus all the way to the school and my child said “Mom, geez did you have to go all the way to school? My friends from pre-school were yelling, ‘Hey! Isn’t that your mom?’”

I read this site often and well it has not made me less observant, less suspicious or less cautious. On the contrary, I am an overprotective bear. I distinctly remembered my third grade. It was the year I met my best friend. That friendship has now spanned decades. Therefore, when I found out that this man lived in the same city as her I had to find out if one of her or her immediate family’s children might have fallen prey to this monster.

Well lucky for her the school is located elsewhere from the city of Torrance where this man lived. If I could have notated the address I might have written the address here. Unfortunately, he does live in her city but is in jail on a $2.3 million dollar bond. (That is not going to get him out on a teacher’s salary.)

The children who however have attended the Miramonte Elementary School in Miramonte, California this year or the last thirty years probably were not so lucky. Miramonte Elementary School is in an unincorporated area of South Los Angeles. Miramonte serves a poor, mainly Hispanic neighborhood. More than half of its approximately 1,400 students are still learning English, according to the school’s website.

The perversion here is disgusting so WARNING; the weak stomach and weak hearted please adjust your reading material back to Bambi.

Mr. Berndt was fired a year ago until the investigation could be completed. Completed it was. It seems that Mr. Berndt had a sort of show and tell with the children blindfolded. And he took photos.

Berndt is seen in the photos submitted to authorities by alarmed and alert processing company employees. A statement from the sheriff’s department noted that “the photographs depicted girls with what appeared to be a blue plastic spoon, filled with an unknown clear/white liquid substance, up to their mouths as if they were going to ingest the substance.”

That liquid substance was, yep you guessed it, semen. Berndt allegedly told the children they would be playing “a game.”

Sheriff’s Lt. Carlos Marquez of the Special Victims Bureau said it was determined the children were given semen on a spoon or on a cookie. Investigators recovered a blue plastic spoon and empty container from the trash in the suspects classroom. The items tested positive for semen, and DNA proved it to be Mark Berndt’s according to the sheriff’s department.

None of the photos showed the students actually eating the semen, but Marquez said the children reported they did not like the taste.

It brought mind the movie Silence of the Lambs. Quoting James “Buffalo Bill” Gumb, “it puts the lotion on its skin” and Dr Hannibal Lecter, “I ate his liver with some Fava beans and rice and a nice Chianti.” By a raise of hands, how many out there think he tried other substances beside this? (I know you all raised your hands too!)

There were also photos of children with large live Madagascar-type cockroaches or otherwise called Hissing Cockroaches, on their faces and mouths.” Gross!

Mark Berndt is accused of felony molestation involving 23 children ages 7 to 10 years old between 2008 and 2010, according to sheriff’s investigators. The police department so far have located 26 victims and have interviewed 80 others, but remember he has been teaching 30 years and that is just one year’s worth. You do the math. They are hoping other step forward that have been victimized. These felonies include gagging, blindfolding and forced ingestion, just to mention a few.

Sheriff’s Special Victims Bureau detectives recovered another 250 additional photos from the film processing business. California has a law that requires film processors to turn in any suspected child abuse pictures. A note to the film processors: No that was not cough medicine and fake bugs for Hallowe’en you were seeing. In addition, the children were not depicting mimes for 3rd grade with tape over their mouths.

Police say they have also discovered a DVD depicting adult sexual “bondage,” which investigators say mirrored the bondage-type pictures of the children. The children were pictured with blindfolds and gags and Mr. Berndt had his hand over their mouths. The investigation began in October 2010 when Berndt turned in a role of 35-mm film to be processed, authorities said.

Finally! At least one of the processing companies did follow the law and turned in the photos to police in 2010. Another 100 photographs that were not turned in were found in his home by the police department. Naughty, naughty to the photo processors that did not turn him in. It might have saved some victims the torture and molestation they endured until someone did the right thing.

Another thing, imagine also you as a parent or brother and sister and what you would feel after the police had told you what had happened to your child and that it would be suggested that they be tested for sexual transmitted diseases? I feel like the only justice for criminals is to let the punishment FIT the crime. I mean really FIT it. A death for a death and rape for a rape etc. When you cannot fit it exactly then improvise. A child rape is like a brutal rape for the perpetrator daily until they are dead. I could go on and on if I had time. Taking a child’s innocence from them is so terrible. Like virginity, it will never be restored. If anyone deserves hell, this person does.

The Los Angeles Unified School District agreed last June to pay about $40,000 to settle its dismissal case against former Miramonte Elementary teacher Mark Berndt. The District had dismissed him on the grounds of unprofessional conduct, immoral conduct and evident unfitness for service. Berndt fought the dismissal. The District finally agreed to pay Berndt nearly $24,000 in backpay from the date of his suspension, allowing him to retain his lifetime health-benefits. He also received $16,000 to pay his legal fees. Subsequently Berndt resigned his teaching position.

Mark Berndt has been charged with 23 counts of lewd conduct. He could face multiple life sentences if convicted. To read more, click here.

Amanda Taylor, 32, from Leighton Alabama was a beautiful, outgoing,loving mother to three children. She was a wonderful daughter/sister/aunt/cousin/and friend to many great people.

On October 17,2011 Mr. Lee, Amanda’s boyfriend picked her up from work but since he had to run errands he dropped Amanda off at Ron Weems’s home to use his computer. Ron and Amanda had known each other for years being as how Ron was once married to her sister and they had two children together.Because of this I’m pretty sure Amanda felt as though she could trust Ron. At around 3pm Mr. Lee returned to the Moss Avenue home to pick Amanda up, instead he saw Ashley Greenhill and Laquania Weems, Ron’s mother sitting on the porch. Ashley came out swinging a hatchet and told Mr. Lee that Amanda had assaulted Ron and then ran off and wasn’t welcome back. Being fearful for his life, Mr. Lee left.

Laurell Pruett, Ron’s current girlfriend, showed up to the home and Ron immediately pulled her inside the bathroom. Sweating, out of breath and without a shirt on Ron confessed he had just killed Amanda. So Laurell decided they should file a police report stating that Amanda Taylor had assaulted Ron, in order to cover their tracks. After all Ron had scratches on his arms and wrists. Little did the police know that those were wounds of a young woman fighting for her life and that her lifeless body was only miles away in the basement of Ron’s mother’s home. The law, as of now, states you can’t file a missing person report for an adult until after they’ve been missing for 48 hours. So on October 19,2001 Brandy Leeth reported her sister missing.

The local newspaper did one article about the missing young mother. The news didn’t even air it on television until Amanda’s father, Mr. Leeth, sent them an e-mail asking them to broadcast his missing daughter’s case. This man has even started a Facebook page asking for leads, making fliers and giving his phone number out in case people didn’t want to speak to investigators. This is a very strong man. He had absolutely no help from the media yet he still wouldn’t give up. In fact, Ron contacted him and told him that she was seen Amanda with a man in a nearby town knowing all along where she was. Mr. Leeth still hasn’t gave up. He is even trying to help other families who find themselves in the same situation he was in. That to me let’s me know that no matter what the tragedy is if you want you can turn it in to something positive.

On November 7, 2011 Ashley Greenhill, the hatchet swinging stripper, went to the police station and told detectives she had overheard Ron telling Laurell “not to worry they’ll never find her body and if they do it will be already decayed.” Ashley said she was afraid of Weems and moved out of his home. Don’t give Ashley too much credit yet though.

This story has some crazy twists maybe it’s time to explain them now. After Ron and his ex-wife divorced he started dating Laurell Pruett, from Huntsville Alabama who already had two children. Both were disabled and neither were in Laurell’s care but instead in the care of the department of human resources. Ron and Laurell started dating but described it as an open relationship. Shortly thereafter, Laurell got pregnant by Ron but that didn’t slow them down any. Instead they decided to bring another woman into their relationship, for the both of them. Evidently Ron is not just a gigalo but he’s also fertile-Myrtle because this other “lady” also got pregnant. She was a lot smarter than Laurell though….she got away. Just before she gave birth to their triplets. At the time the time the crime was committed Laurell and Ron were still together but Laurell was living else where and had a girlfriend whom she called “wifey.” Their daughter was living with Ron and his mother.

Ashley Greenhill of Florence, Alabama is a mother of two and already has a long rap sheet. Back in 2008, Ashley’s 2 year old son,who lived with her parents, came to visit with her but when she took him back the next day her parents noticed the child has bite marks all over his body and scratches to his back and extremities. Her parents immediately went to the police and she was arrested for felony child abuse since she was already out on bond for burglary,theft of property, criminal mischief, and receiving stolen property her bond was revoked. She took a plea deal and went to drug rehab. Thank goodness her parents were smart enough to go to the police then to take up for her.

I should also tell you all that Ron, Laurell, Ashley, Fox and many many more(you’ll see when the supporters show up) have formed a clown gang. Yes that’s right a clown gang. They call themselves the Juggalos(men members) and juggalettes(female members) they get together, paint their faces like clowns, carry hatchets, and listen to a band called ICP. Let me just say….I do not think in any way what so ever that them listening to ICP had anything to do with this murder. It’s just a part of the story that I must entail. In the fall 2011 Ashley began living with Ron, Laquania, and Laurell and Ron’s child at the Moss avenue home. Although Laurell and Ashley were friends they shared the same man, sexually. Matthew Fox, 21, Florence, didn’t know any of the people involved except for Ashley and I bet he wish hadn’t had met her or any of the others now.

A few days after Ashley met with detectives to tell them about Laurell and Ron’s conversation she met with them once again. She told detectives that Ron said “he dropped her on a road with tall grass on each side of the road near Leighton Alabama.” After driving around for a little bit Ashley told them to stop at Gnatt Pond Road in Muscle Shoals Alabama. While detectives closely watched, Ashley went into some brush and came out and told detectives it looked as if something had been drug through there but she didn’t see anything.

Police returned to the same spot this time without Ashley and they went to the same spot she had. This time they found hair and immediately called in the cadaver dogs. Now let me just tell you all that here in North Alabama we have 100,000s of acres of pasture,fields, and woods. Just about everywhere you look is exactly what Ron Weems had explained. How in the world could she just go to the exact spot unless, of course, she hadn’t already been there?

The next day on 12-3-11 the police and cadaver dogs went to Gnatt pond where they found Amanda’s skull, and several bones, some broken, some cut. They then searched the Moss Avenue resident and found Amanda’s blood on the wall and floor in the basement. The next day, Stacy Young contacted the police and told them that Ron and Laurell had set some stuff on fire in her yard the day after Amanda came up missing. When police searched the fire pit they found Amanda’s necklace, 4 earrings, some clothing and other items.

Laurell was the first of the suspects to be interviewed and she sang like a bird. She admitted that they had burned the stuff. She said it was a pair of pants, 2 shirts, a plastic bag of articles, and a plastic ice cream bucket. Pruett also said that after they had filed the assault report on Amanda that they had went back to the house where she saw Amanda’s body laying face up, her pants and panties were removed, she was purple and had a ligature mark around her neck, the nylon strap was lying next to her.

At around 10:30-11pm Fox and Ashley showed up to help their fellow clown fans. Fox made the suggestion that Ron cut off Amanda’s fingers and toes to conceal her identity. Weems got a kitchen knife and started cutting her fingers and toes off, he would drop each one in the plastic ice cream bucket. I guess it was just too much for Ashley and Laurell because they went upstairs to smoke some weed and take Valiums. Also let me tell you both Laquania and Laurell’s daughter were there at the time. How could Laquania Weems not know what was going on in her own home? At approximately 1am Fox helped Weems load Amanda’s body into Ron’s Honda Accord. Then Fox went home. Ron left and about 2 hours later he returned to the house and told Laurell that he had disposed of her body near Leighton and busted her teeth out a hammer. They then went to bed. How oh how does someone go to sleep after all of that?

Since Laurell testified Ron admitted to it as well except he said Amanda tried to hit him with a concrete block so he just killed her in self defense. Yeah right!! Because of the confessions all three were arrested(police report). Ron and Fox were charged with murder and abuse of a corpse, Fox also got hindering prosecution. Laurell was charged with murder and hindering prosecution. They are all still in jail on $500,000 bond. The reason they say they murdered her was for a child support check she supposedly stole…Laurell received it in the mail on October 19,2011. And of course when the defense have nothing else they always say they have some kind of mental illness. This case is no different they said Ron was bi-polar and that played a major role in the crime.

So what is Ashley being charged with? Nothing, Nadda, Zip….yet anyways. I totally understand that they wouldn’t have found her when they did without Ashley’s help but that should give her a “get out of jail for murder card” In fact Fox would’ve never met Ron or Laurell had it not been for Ashley. Mr. Lee was lied to and threatened by none other that Ashley Greenhill. I just hope she gets charged just as harsh as the others. Personally I believe Ashley, Ron,Laurell, Fox, and Laquania all deserve to be charged. Laquania should be charged with hindering prosecution if nothing else.

Now I’m asking everyone to please, please sign this petition for the Amanda Alert. It would allow people to report their adult loved one missing as soon as you realize they are missing. Although, I realize this probably wouldn’t have saved Amanda’s life it might would have sent the police to Ron’s home while the body was still in the basement and the family wouldn’t have had to live in agony for almost two months.

You’d let this guy look after three girls all younger than 10 years old, right before Christmas, wouldn’t you? In a trailer park with 15 sex offenders as neighbors, this wouldn’t be a problem with you?

Well there was a problem, and it started with a brick. No, maybe it was something else that started it but I’ll get back to that brick in a second.

This is Aliahna Lemmon, 9 years old, excitable, ADHD suffering, but cute as a button I must say, the sort of girl I’d chide about all of her “boyfriends,” and try very hard not to buy a pony for. Aliahna Lemmon deserved a pony for Christmas. She deserved presents under a Christmas tree, but all she got was a brick.

Michael Plumadore confessed in his third police interview(because the first two did not add up) to beating this 9 year old to death with a brick. Afterward, he hacked her to pieces with a hack saw, buried some of her and kept much of her in freezers both at his trailer and other places around the park. He wrapped her up like she was dog meat, and the horror of it all was too much for me to really wait before I wrote this all down. A 9 year old was murdered with a brick, her body cut up and spread around, and afterward, this man walked down the road, bought a cigar and smoked it.

I hope your Christmas was better than this. I’m certain it was.

But for a lot of families, Sunday morning is a time to sleep in, rest, recuperate and recharge from the previous week and try to prepare for the upcoming one. Unfortunately for one Franklin County, Alabama family, their Sunday morning was started when Jesus Christ himself appeared and woke them up.

Charles Eugene Timms, 65, (ain’t he a peach girls? He just sets your nose hair on fire he’s so fine) of Gun Town, MS (you just can’t make this shit up) broke into the family’s home proclaiming that he was Jesus Christ and he was there to have sex with the homeowner’s wife and daughter, so hand them over (“We’ve come for your daughter Chuck”).

Naturally, the homeowner was a trifle taken-aback by this request and showing what I consider to be an enormous amount of restraint, approached Charles, unarmed (I mean come on people, this is ALABAMA – it seems like everyone in the entire state is armed) and quietly tried to calm Charles down. Then Charles Eugene Timms dropped his pants, exposing his rod and staff and switched identities and claimed to be Elvis Presley. I guess he thought he was “A Hunk of Burning Love.”

While Mr. Homeowner was reminiscing with Elvis about his appearances on the Ed Sullivan show, another member of the family was able to call the police to tell them to come with their nets and possibly a straight jacket to remove Christ/Elvis from their home so that they could get on with their relaxing.

When the police arrived, Charles Eugene Timms fled the scene, with his pants still down around his ankles. A short time later, he was apprehended.

I chuckle at the “short time” thing. I mean how fast can a 65-year old fruit loop run with his pants around his ankles?

When he was finally caught and arrested, Charles Eugene Timms told the cops his name was “Jean” Simms, claimed to be the grandson of Harry Houdini and would escape from their evil clutches, and there wasn’t a thing they could do about it. Thankfully, Charles’ escape skills proved futile and he was charged with third-degree burglary, attempted indecent exposure and resisting arrest.

In an ironic case of stating the obvious, Franklin County District Attorney Joey Rushing said, “Just based on the circumstances of the arrest, we’ll be asking the state to conduct a mental evaluation on the suspect when the time comes.” Duh, ya think?

Now I in no way believe that poor old Charles/Jean/Christ/Elvis/Harry deserves to be thrown into the fiery pits of hell. On the contrary, we should keep him around just for the chuckle factor. Maybe he’ll turn into the Terminator (I’ll be back!”). He seems harmless enough. He appears to have so many people living in his head it would be impossible for him to come to any agreements with them all as to any criminal behavior.

We deal with so much absolute evil here, that once in a while it is nice to just sit back and laugh. Like Mel Brooks once said

“Humor is just another defense against the universe.”

So laugh away.

UPDATE

A new video of Charles Eugene Timms was spotted on YouTube earlier today. There is some controversy about the identification of Mr. Timms, but no one argues that it is definitely his M.O.

At the time, the woman was pregnant (three months in), and was charged with kidnapping, attempted rape (for which he was charged and served fifteen years in prison), and rape. He got out of prison five years ago.

That was supposedly the end of Sowell. You know, since prison is supposed to change people, supposed to make them better. He worked at a factory, quit, collected unemployment, and made a living selling scrap metal. Typical convict behavior.

Until September of 2009.

According to the Havelock News Network: “Sowell invited a woman he knew to his home for a drink. On September 22, 2009 she reported to police that after a few drinks, he became angry, hit her, choked her and raped her as she passed out. On October 29, police arrived at his home with a warrant to arrest him for the alleged rape. He was not there, but they found two bodies on the floor in the living room. He was located and arrested two days later.”

As if two bodies weren’t enough of a problem in the first place for the former prisoner, four more bodies were found around the property. Apparently, Anthony Sowell was too stupid to cover up his shallow grave in the basement.

After those initial six bodies were found around the house, three and a half (remains from a fourth) more bodies were found buried in the backyard. Apparently Mr. Sowell here had himself a regular graveyard operation running at his home/scrap metal business.

Then there was the bucket outside the house. Yeah, there was a bucket outside the house. You’ll never guess what was in this bucket. Remains from the eleventh victim. A human skull, to be more precise. Maybe Anthony Sowell was practicing for his local community center’s Shakespeare-fest.

Or maybe he was crazy. Or stupid. Or both.

Ten of the eleven bodies were identified in the three months after the first were found. They were all women, and they were all killed between May 2007 and July 2009. The remains of the fourth victim found in the backyard were too mutilated and ground to a powder to identify properly.

According to CBS News: “Lori Frazier, the niece of Mayor Frank G. Jackson, began a relationship with Sowell shortly after his release from prison, and resided in his home. She claims in an interview to have smelled the stench of the bodies and been told that the smell was coming from Sowell’s stepmother and when she moved out that the smell was from Ray’s Sausage shop.

“There is some confusion about when Frazier stopped living in Sowell’s home. In a video interview she mentions moving out in 2007, but in a published article she is said to have been living there until 2008. Another article quotes a friend of Frazier’s stating that Frazier stopped hanging around the house in 2008.”

So now what do we have? A fiteen-year felon, a scrap metal shop run out of a house turned into a graveyard, eleven dead bodies in various places around the premises, yet another rape, and a rebel niece of a Cleveland mayor dating this crazed maniac. What does this all spell out?

Sowell is currently charged with 85 separate counts of kidnapping, rape, and murder. He awaits sentencing and is facing life in prison. Sowell plans to plead not guilty by reason of insanity.

Maybe, just maybe, one of his cellmates will sharpen a toothbrush and put Sowell where he truly belongs. We all know where that is.

John Violette’s first trip to a California psychiatric hospital was back in the 1990′s. John was in his mid twenties and was displaying behavior that had grown increasingly bizarre. Behavior such as violent outbursts, talking to voices no one else could hear, paranoia, thinking people were following him, and trying to jump from a moving vehicle. His family also speculates that John was using drugs, but could never officially verify what, if any, he was using.

The family tried to enter John into a drug rehabilitation program, but he ran out, later turning up at a hospital emergency room in a frenzied state. Drug screens done that night could show nothing in his system. John was readmitted to a mental health facility. After a short stint in the hospital, a doctor officially diagnosed John Violette as a paranoid schizophrenic and recommend that he be released with a prescription for an anti-psychotic medication to keep his illness under control.

After returning home in his newly medicated state, his family became concerned that the pills he was taking were making him sluggish. They notice his speech had slowed a bit. Doubtful of the doctor’s schizophrenia diagnosis, John’s sister Denise urged him to stop taking his medication. He did. According to Denise, that was the last time John ever took medication to keep his paranoid schizophrenia under control.

After a few months, John seemed to be on the mend. He felt well enough to move away from his family in California and make a move to North Carolina. It was there that he started attending a Baptist church and frequenting their social events for singles. It was there at the Colonial Baptist Church that he met his future wife Amber. The couple fell in love and got married. For a few years all was well. John was able to maintain steady employment, the couple continued to attend church on a regular basis, and in 2002 after purchasing a new home their daughter Katlin was born.

At this point, it might seem as though John’s troubled past was behind him. But schizophrenia is not a mental illness to be taken lightly. People who suffer from this disease can suppress it for years and be perfectly fine, upstanding members of society. But more often than not, something snaps. Voices start being heard again. The looming dread of being followed starts to creep back in to every day life. You start feeling the grip of panic more and more frequently. Suddenly loved ones begin to look evil. Houseplants begin to look like strategically concealed microphones, recording your every word. Grocery store cashiers look like government agents sent to profile your every purchase. The hell of living this existence alone started to wear on John Violette. So he did what any man who put his faith in God would do. He read his bible.

On the morning of January 12th 2007, Amber Violette was preparing for a day at work as usual. John had abruptly quit his job with Lowe’s the day before, and was acting a bit… off. Katlin Violette, undoubtedly too young to understand that anything might be wrong with her father, was looking forward to a day of alone time with her dad. After all, John had always been the “fun” parent who loved to organize living room campouts and joke around. But that morning, it seemed as though that was the last thing on John’s mind.

As his wife prepared to leave, John begged her repeatedly to stay. Clearly terrified he explained to his wife that the apocalypse was imminent, and that a major disaster was primed to wipe out the eastern seaboard. Perhaps upon hearing this, Amber briefly considered calling out of work that day. Perhaps she thought she ought to stay with her husband, or hire a sitter for Katlin while she brought him to the nearest health facility. Any of these options would have been better than the chaos that was going to unfold, but that morning Amber left her ranting and visibly distraught husband and went to work.

Now the voices in John’s head were getting louder. Angrier. In John’s mind he was hearing the voice of God that morning, and God was telling him that his daughter had been invaded by an evil force. This was not John’s first time hearing the voice of God in his head. A month earlier, God had told him he could help save the world from evil and destruction by joining the “Christ Intelligence Agency”… CIA. The voice grew more persistent, telling John that the only way to rid the world of this demon was to kill it, and remove it’s head so that the spirit could not re-inhabit the body. So John did what he was told. He ran into the kitchen, grabbed a knife and stabbed his daughter to death. After he was sure she had died he decapitated her, stuffing her head into a trash can and commanding the family’s dog to make sure the spirit did not escape.
Then, John Violette ran.

In John’s mind, he needed to get off the east coast. He needed to get to other members of the Christ Intelligence Agency in Montana, to await the end of the world as predicted in the bible’s book of Revelation. Problem was, John wasn’t able to book a flight. He found one to Washington DC and boarded the plane. I wonder if any of the crew noticed him acting strangely? If he tried to share his predictions. He must have had the mental clarity to change his clothing before attempting to board an airplane. After many flights, I have been delayed more than once over a lighter or a silver belt buckle, so I’m sure if he’d shown up covered in his daughter’s blood, someone would have noticed. Once he got to DC, John holed himself up in a hotel with his bible and waited for the worst.

Around lunchtime, Amber came home to check in on her husband and daughter. Perhaps she was concerned about her husband’s strange behavior that morning, but it was well known that the family frequently made time to have lunch together so it wouldn’t have been unusual for her to come home mid day. But this day, something had gone horribly, hideously wrong. Upon walking into her home, Amber found her daughter’s headless body laying in the hallway. There was blood everywhere. John was nowhere to be found.

*I have to pause here and calm my lurching stomach. I cannot imagine the absolute horror that woman must have experienced seeing her baby that way.*
Amber frantically dialed 911, knowing there was nothing she could do. In a chilling call, Amber can he heard telling the dispatcher:

“Her head’s off! I can’t do anything! She’s dead! Don’t you get it? I can’t look! I can’t look! My baby … that’s my baby!”

Amber stood there amidst the chaos. She had expected to come home and have lunch with the two people she loved most in the world, but relatively speaking, both of them were already gone. Police arrived and began following the paper trail John had left that morning on his credit card, for both the plane ticket to Washington DC and the hotel he was staying at. When Police finally caught up with him, he was screaming excerpts from the book of Revelation and warning the officers that the end was near. After nearly ten years of keeping his illness dormant, John had finally reached the end of the line. He was immediately placed under arrest for the murder of his daughter Katlin.

John Violette’s trial was wrought with emotion and grief. Family and friends insisted over and over that this was not the man they had known and loved. They collectively wondered why this tragedy had happened. What I find frustrating, is that all the signs were there, and no one did anything.

John had been diagnosed as a schizophrenic and his family refused to believe the doctor, after putting him in the hospital looking for answers. He was put on medication to get his delusions under control and his family encouraged him to stop taking it. He quit his job and began sharing disturbing theories about the end of the world, but still he was left alone with a helpless child while his wife went to work and no one did anything. John Violette was left to fall through the cracks and a little girl lost her life over something that could have been prevented. “”I look back and I think, ‘We should never have let him out of that place’ said Denise Violette, John’s sister. As they say, hindsight is always 20/20.

John never stood trial for his daughter’s murder. His attorney Bob Denning entered a plea of insanity, saying that John Violette had no idea what he was doing the day he murdered his daughter and could not be held accountable. In a statement pleading for mercy from the court, Amber Violette begged for her husband to be placed into a mental hospital instead of a prison. “I want him to be treated. I still have hope” said Amber. Three doctors who testified at the trial were in agreement that this was a deeply disturbed man, not a criminal. On Thursday January 3rd, 2008 nearly one year after the murder of Katlin Violette, Superior Court Judge Jack Thompson declared John Violette not guilty by reason of insanity.

But John Violette might be walking the streets sometime in the near future. Since he was never proven guilty of committing a crime, he has been detained at the Dorothea Dix Hospital in North Carolina. He will remain there until he can prove to a judge that he has been fully rehabilitated and capable of re-entering society *shudder*.

Amber continues to stand by her husband, telling people who question her loyalty to the man who killed her child, “John is the most loving, compassionate, gentle man. And I know he would never do anything like this unless something were wrong.”

Does John Violette deserve hell? I’m not sure. He’s clearly a very sick individual. Does he deserve hell based on the fact that he killed his own daughter? Or was John Violette simply a victim of a support system that failed him. A family who refused to take his diagnosis seriously? A family who encouraged him to get off his medication after witnessing his increasingly psychotic behavior? Surely no one thought it would escalate to this point. I guess no one will know in this lifetime. For now, I can only say this: take mental problems very seriously. No one can afford to brush off any diagnosis, especially one as serious as schizophrenia. Rest in peace, Katlin. I hope the Violette family is able to find some peace.

“The court concludes she did not know the wrongfulness of her horrific acts,” said Judge John Sutula.

She’ll stay in jail, where’s she’s been since the night of the murders, until a hearing to decide whether she should be committed to a State Mental Institution. The date of the hearing hasn’t been set yet.

Assistant Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Mark Mahoney said the state believed Hill should be hospitalized.

“We will argue she is a danger to herself and others and that she be committed to a psychiatric institution,” he said.

Judge Sutula said evidence from both the court’s forensic psychiatrist and a clinical psychologist obtained by the defense concluded that Hill had suffered from “a major depressive disorder with psychotic features.”

Defense attorney Fernando Mack had said Hill heard voices telling her to “do it, do it” on the day the children died.

A forensic pathologist in the Cuyahoga County coroner’s office had testified that marks on the older girl’s neck indicated she may have struggled and was strangled.

Carolyn Hutchins, Hill’s mother, said she thanked God for the verdict.

“Now my daughter can get some help,” she said. During the trial, Hutchins had testified that she wanted to take her daughter to a hospital for mental health counseling before the children died.

Mack said Hill had since been medicated and was functioning well.

“She was a good mother,” said the defense attorney Myron Watson. “She cared for those children. Those children were the center of her life.”

What this all means in laymen’s terms is that Amber Hill will not be tried for murdering her daughters, 4-year-old Janelle Cintron and 2-year-old Cecess Hill. Instead, this three-judge panel found her not guilty by reason of insanity. Technically, she is now a free woman, but the State is claiming she is a danger to herself and others and has asked for a hearing in order to commit her to a State Hospital for the Criminally Insane, hopefully for a very long period of time. It is possible however, that psychiatrists could decide she’s no longer dangerous and release her anytime. It’s happened many times before, and the only way to be sure it won’t happen this time is for the citizens of Ohio to be vigilant. If, of course, that’s what they want.

After a quick shower, Sanchez went into the Bedroom to lie down on the bed. A few minutes later his girlfriend came into the room and placed the baby down next to him and left for a few minutes. 15 minutes later she returned and saw the baby lying in a pool of blood in the middle of the bed. She began screaming, “My Baby! My Baby! Jose’ Sanchez jumped up and split the apartment like his ass was on fire and his head was catching.

The mother took the baby to Columbia Memorial Hospital. Dr. Susan Heineck was treating another patient in the emergency room, but because of the baby’s piercing cry she came over immediately to treat Baby Sanchez.

This next part is very painful and difficult read if you care at all for small children, animals, or any other kind of helpless creature. Don’t say you weren’t warned.

Ken Jones, a criminalist with the Portland Police, who was in the operating room to photograph the injuries to the child, related the shocking details. He said the child’s tongue was ripped loose from the base of the mouth clear back to her tonsils, and partially torn. Her lower jawbone was showing through an open wound on the inside of her mouth. The sides of her mouth were torn open like somebody had forced something too large inside.

Jones said the outward-direction of the injuries looked as if somebody had stuck their hand inside the child’s mouth, grabbed her lower jaw and forcefully yanked it down. Surgeons described the injuries to the baby as “horrendous.” The tissue was so torn, in some places there wasn’t material for stitches, she said.

In other word, Jose tried to jam his man-size fist into his two month old daughter’s tiny mouth in order to (for reasons known only to Jose’) tear her tongue out of her mouth.

José Gutierrez Sanchez turned himself in after being on the run for 4 days and he was immediately charged with First Degree Assault.

Trial Began in Tuesday, October 21st, 2008. Sanchez’s attorney, John Orr, of Astoria, argued in closing arguments that the injuries occurred when Sanchez twitched in his sleep, accidentally ramming the baby’s pacifier into her mouth with his elbow and knocking her off the bed onto a pile of shoes on the floor. Orr argued that the hard edges of the pacifier cut the baby’s mouth.

And you thought lawyers didn’t have a sense of humor. You gotta admit, that’s a ridiculously funny load of crap in the previous paragraph, don’t you think?

The baby endured two surgeries. Dr. Carol MacArther, a specialist in head and neck surgeries, performed one. Dr. Anna Kuang, who specializes in plastic and reconstructive surgeries, performed the other. For three weeks, the baby had a steel restraints attached through her cheeks.

The surgeons described the injuries to the baby as “horrendous.” The damage to the baby’s jaw was so bad in some places that there wasn’t enough skin and muscle to properly stitch it back together.

On Friday, October 27th, 2008 the Clatsop County jury convicted José Gutierrez Sanchez, and finally, on Tuesday, October 28th, Circuit Court Judge Philip Nelson sentenced Sanchez to 7 1/2 years in prison for the horrendous First Degree assault of his 2 month old daughter.

“I can’t imagine how anybody could cause on any child that kind of injury,” Judge Nelson said. “If I could give you a longer sentence, I would.”

There’s no knowing if the baby will make a full recovery or not. Doctors predict there’s a good chance for residual numbness and nerve damage to her face and mouth

I have no clue why this son of a bitch did this to his own flesh and blood. Why would he jam his huge fist into that poor little baby’s tiny mouth, for no other reason than what appears to be to rip her tongue out. Is it just pure evil that possessed this man’s mind, or was it something as stupid as him being a little drunk and wanting to get to sleep? I guess only Mr. Sanchez can tell us, and what are the odds he tells the truth? So the search goes on……
